    Hi
I plan to move to Norway and your videos are HUUGE inspiration for me. I feel like I am the kind of person who will fit there more than I fit in my motherland and this video showed me that I'm right. Here I feel like I'm kind of outcast, but you ashured me that there is a country of people, where my "weirdness" is normal. I'm so happy that I feel like crying.
Thank you so much, movin to another country for the first time is a huge of a deal and you make it easier for me.

Non of the questions were in the category of typically Norwegian. Most Norwegians don't own a marius-genser. It's a sweater for kids. In fact, most Norwegians don't even own any kind of grainy knitted sweater at all. Most Norwegians are living in cities and don't care the least about nature in the winter.
Typical Norwegian is to be shy, easy going, relaxed, opposed to impetuous which is increasingly more common and to a greater degree the longer south you get. Thus for the most important properties and the most distinct part of being Norwegian, you are certainly one of them. If you colored your hair brown, no Norwegian would believe you're anything, but Norwegian. Btw, I don't know what is wrong with your color sight or if it is your camera, but from where I'm sitting your eyes are blue. Norwegian blue. So, there was no coincidence you ended up in Norway. Your natural shyness so easy to appreciate is exactly the type, characteristic for Norwegians in general. I can't believe you don't have some Norwegian genes in your blood, like a lot. You should test yourself. You get a comprehensive one for less than hundred bucks right now. Btw, for they who have been in Norway for more than two years and not thrown out, there is no return so whether you are a Norwegian or not really doesn't matter. There is no going back for you, Mon Amie, but you already knew that, didn't you?

Her hair color isn't exactly unheard of among ethnic Norwegians. Sure, it's a little rarer to be this dark in hair color, but there are people with dark hair in Norway. I've seen ethnic Norwegians who look very like this girl, in fact I was surprised to hear she was Portuguese at first.

Pale Pilgrim I have several Norwegian friends who are %100 Norwegian, born & raised in Canada & are very dark. At our local Scandinavian Culture Centre there’s many Scandinavians are dark & short but do have the ‘typical’ physical features such facial that are considered typical Scandinavian. They have told me that the Vikings brought back slaves from other cultures & they intermarried over the centuries.

Snus: Only wusses use the bags. To get the full effect (effectively nicotine poisoning if you're new to it), you use loose snus, and pack 5+ bags worth very loosely (or not at all), before putting it in your mouth, using the tongue to place in under your lip. This will instantly dissolve a lot of nicotine in your mouth, which will quickly be absorbed through the mucous membranes, and send beginners running for the toilet to hurl within few minutes. It works even better because the strong taste makes beginners reluctant to swallow (nicotine isn't absorbed through stomach and intestines). It's great fun to watch. It works on smokers, as well, especially if it's strong snus. For seasoned users, it's just how we do it.

I’m from wales but live in England, we talk about the weather a lot, we like to be cosy or cwtch up welsh for cuddle. I own a Marco master and drink black coffee but like tea too. I wear wool in the winter but not the summer, I own a Norwegian style jumper but we do say hello to are friends on the bus but I drive. I liked in Norwegian lifestyle and everyone is equal. Your name isn't Welsh at all. Just being born in Wales doesn't make you Welsh. You're obviously ultimately of Germanic descent with a name like Robertson, and you probably speak only English or it's your native tongue at the very least.
      You're not really Welsh.

Norwegians have quite a few things in common with english people based on this list :P
    potatoes,
    weather as a conversation starter,
    being conflict-avoidant and not complaining,
    Cosiness as something serious,
Pretending you don’t know acquaintances on the bus (true in southern England, not so much in northern England).

Haha the eating thing is so fun. I was backpacking in new Zealand (that is so simular to norway in the nature), and it was like around 8 (pm? Evning) , and we are sitting in the kitchen area, and someone asked me "Are you eating oats for dinner??!" and I just look weird at him and say "hum, no? I eat dinner earlier? this is my evning meal?" haha everyone could not understand the dinner so early, and 4 meals a day.

I heard it is really difficult to make friends in norway. Im going to study university in norway in 2 years and I’ve been watching a lot of videos and many of them say that foreigners are really lonely , is that true?
I think it could be easier to make friend If I go to school , because many of the people that say that they are lonely are only working in norway.
    Great video

    • @MonAmieDesserts

Making friends at school it's easier of course, but I think it also helps if you have some extra activities like a sport, or some kind of course, gym, etc. Some place where you can meet more people 😉 also being involved in the culture, like knowing how to ski

    • @Cantfi
      @Cantfi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Don't think you'll have any problems with making friends at school. Just know that norwegians often are bad at making plans to hang out outside of school, it's not because they don't want to, it's just that they are afraid to be introsive to your personal life or bother you, so don't be afraid to take the iniciative they'll usually be happy to hang out :)

Hey Mon! I love your channel! It's so informative! I'm from Cyprus and I'm visiting Norway for the first time to spend my Christmas holidays with my uncle's family (they live in Norway for over 40 years) and I was wondering what should I pack. How do people spend their Christmas holidays in Norway? Do they stay inside? Do they go out? Is there something that's a must for me to bring with me? Thank you in advance, Anna💛

In the Iberian Peninsula, two major ethnic groups met prior to the Roman or Germanic occupation, mediteranian civilizations in the south, and Celts in the north. The two populations fused over time into what is called Celtiberian. The Spanish and Portuguese genome today is half Mediteranian, half ancient Atlantic Celtic. Your just an example of the Celtic identity of Portugal! Not surprising!
