We allways go to Hovedøya. It has beaches and parks, a good restaurant. Only accessible by ferry but the ferry uses the same ticket as the subway and busses so basically its free.

My personal favorite is Langøyene always bring some food, a water bottle and now the water is drinkable! There is a nice kiosk there love the place absolutely beautiful. You know not a lot of beaches in Norway have sand under the water, which I prefer. :/

Impressive knowledge of beaches in the Oslo area! Ingierstrand is a really nice beach too, just a bit further from Hvervenbukta, with a restaurant etc and a «tower» for jumps into the ocean. Another beach closer to the city center is Sydstranda on the little island of Ulvøya, which is situated on the southeastside of city center just a couple of kilometers from the area of the Opera house. Its a bridge over to the island and most of the island is a residential area with some really nice houses etc. Worth checking out! There is a bus going there, I think its Buss # 85.
All the islands that you need a boat to go to like Langøyene, Hovedøya, Bleiksøya, Nakholmen, Gressholmen etc is also good for a trip and picnic albeit not so much sandy beaches.
Freshwater beaches - Sognsvann, very popular lake with a sandy beach, Im sure you know about it. Ulsrudvannet on the eastern side of Oslo is also a nice freshwater beach site. Easy accesible if you take the T-bane to Ulsrud and walk a few minutes.

Huk. You didn't mention Huk (the naturist beach). The first time there was an accident, I was trying to get to Huk and took the path that goes to the right from the bus stop/carpark in stead of the path that goes straight on to the main beach at Huk. For a single parent it is brilliant. It's easy to keep an overview of what's going on and an eye on your kid(s). There is a really nice sandy, shallow bay. There is sand, there is grass, there is a grill area, there is a small kiosk for ice cream, cola, and coffee, there are rock pools for crab hunting, rocks to climb on, etc, etc.
After that day it became my preferred beach.
Yes, it's a naturist beach, so; if nudity for some reason bothers you, don't go there. However, being naken is not a requirement. If you prefer to keep your bikini or your trunks on, then do so.

I think the name of the beach you called Hvervenbukta actually is Bestemorstranda. It is a bus going there diretly from Oslo, but you may take bus no. 100 and leave it at Fiskevollen (city fare). Then a nice walk to Hvervenbukta (or Bestemorstranda).

So, Norway is done with the lockdown? Are things back to normal there? Here in the US, San Francisco was the first to lockdown in mid March, where we live ... and we’re still here 110 days later, while we wait for everyone else to wake up. So frustrating and I’m sorry we may cause problems for the rest of the world. Enjoy your freedom!

    • @MonAmieDesserts

Hi! ☺️ Norway went into "lockdown" (not a very serious one) in March. But then in mod April things started to return to normal. Now everything looks super normal besides the facts that almost no one can leave or enter the country with a few exceptions. 💕 Stay safe!

Greetings from the Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand! Your channel must have popped up in my recommendations due to the time I spend watching Norwegian webcams, especially those at Geirangerfjord and Hellesylt. Anyway, I, too, didn't really think of Norway as a place with an active beach life, I tended to think that winter in Norway was when most Norwegians went into the great outdoors, due to all the winter activities that are on offer then. Beach life is my favourite thing in life, which is why I now live in a small coastal town. You can't beat having the beach and ocean right on your doorstep! If you check out the banner for my channel (no videos yet!) you'll see the beach that's across the harbour from my one. Most of the beaches around this part of New Zealand are just like it.
Anyway, keep up the good work with your videos, they're most enjoyable to watch - and informative!

Thanks! ☺️ I agree with you. There is nothing like having the beach close by. I grew up living in a house right in front of beautiful beach in Portugal.
New Zealand sounds so good! I'll definitely visit one day!

You can be here on a 3 month tourist visa or work visa. If you get a permanent job and pass a social and language test, you can apply for citizenship after 6.5 years. It will give you a good and long life - and financial security for the rest of your life. Norway has an incredible social security - you should never beg for food or apartment - if you have a downturn in life then you get help from the State.
