Beginning on August 13 this year, the monthly membership price for GamePass Ultimate will be increasing. 😥 This may have also affected the conversion ratio of Xbox Live Gold to Game Pass Ultimate. Some commenters have reported a 3:2 ratio being the new normal--so three years of Gold may only get you two years of GamePass Ultimate. I'll update this comment if I see this confirmed by Microsoft, but here is the email they sent out today: "Thank you for being an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member. We want to give you details on how we are planning to increase our prices to bring you the best gaming experience. After August 13, 2023, your payment will be $16.99 plus applicable taxes every recurrence period. You can manage your account, how you pay, or stop future charges, by visiting your Microsoft account. Just did it today (06/21/2023) and can confirm it still works! Bought 3 years of Xbox Live from the Ebay seller you listed for $165, then bought one month of Game Pass Ultimate for $15.00. Now I have 3 years of Game Pass for $180!

ive just done it and it still works 25/07/2023 but yes they changed the ratio but add 3 month codes and it gives u 1 extra for recurring bill so each one gives 4 months so will max it out with 2 years 3 months worth then add one month of ultimate then just turn off auro renew when done
I'm a bit confused, did you redeem all your 3-month codes and then convert? Or, redeem a code, convert and then keep redeeming 3 month codes? The ratio seems to be worse than 3:2 when you keep redeeming gold codes while having an active ultimate subscripton.

This does not work anymore. I mean the ratio 1:1. Gold to GP ultimate now converts to ratio 3:2 so keep in mind that 3 years of Gold will be converter to 2 years of GP ultimate. I belive the last day of 1:1 ration was on July 5, 2023.

This is probably a dumb question but since xbox live gold is getting retired soon, if I cancel the subscription I already have so that I can redo this for three years instead of one, do I get anything back or is that just 10 months that are completely lost?
@Risky_Crew It's my understanding that if you cancel, you still have to run out the rest of the months you've paid for. So I'm not sure you'd be able to crossgrade unless the account is expired like mine was at the time of renewal. All of this being said, Xbox just today announced they are planning to retire Gold and I dont think anyone knows exactly what this means for the future of Game Pass just yet...

To my knowledge, you cannot add more than 36 months of prepaid XBL Gold to any one account. That's the limit, but I do believe the conversion trick would still work.

Yes, I believe that would work. However, you would get more "bang for your buck" if you bought a 3 or 12 month subscription to Gold and then did the conversion.

Yes, that sounds correct. You would let your current gold plan expire, then buy in the order you wrote above. You would follow the steps in my video and it should work the same for you.

Hmm so I could pay around $90 for 2 years live and 1 month of ultimate, since they did away with the 1 month trial for $1. And only play Starfield for 17 months via Ultimate on pc (don't have a series X). Or I can pay $60 on steam and own the game.

So once your gold subscribtion ends in 1-3 years you can just renew another 1-3 years of gold and still have gamepass?
Not automatically, no. You would need to follow these same steps again and see if Xbox still allows this conversion trick 1-3 years from now.

Yes. All you need is a one month Game Pass Ultimate code SO LONG AS you already purchased and redeemed your 1-3 years of Gold first.

When you cancel Game Pass Ultimate, your account will still be active until your original renewal date. Whenever that date is/was for you.
