I have an external drive m.2 2tb crucial t500 inside a NewQ Maintenance-Free 40Gbps USB4 enclosure and I’m getting 3k read write and use it to boot off of. I can bring my drive anywhere and have my life with me and run it on any apple silicon machine. It’s a beautiful thing
If there isn't much difference in the price, which one should I buy? Right now, the T7 1TB (Beige) is priced at Rs.11,199 ($133), and the T9 1TB is priced at Rs.11,599 ($138). I'll only use it to store some photos and videos, so 1TB is enough for my use.
Yes, but you can install the OS on the external drive and use it instead of the internal. If you get a nice fast Thunderbolt external then you won't notice much of a speed difference.
Have a look at the portable 4TB Orico R3700 I bought one yesterday. Up to 3700 speed on Macbook Pro max, pretty damn awesome. Build in fan and it just works.
Hey Marina, is it possible to turn this samsung t7 as the main storage? so probably to install the macos sierra into that ssd and run everything inside the t7. My mac mini m2 storage is already full of capacity, So I was expecting to move the library folders into the SSD if it's possible. Thanks
Yes you can! It’s not a super easy process, you will definitely have to know what you’re doing, but it’s doable. However, I would suggest you first try to move your folders to the SSD, and not the entire OS. Your internal SSD is probably much faster and reliable than any USB attached device.

Marina i purchased a 2tb T7 plugged into windows down loaded software transfered photos Then plugged T7 in ipad pro and although it sees it i cant see any mac os or any of my photos. Can you swap between windows and Apple or not with this ssd? Anyone?
@@MarinaTech Thanks for your reply unfortunately I am completely i.t.iliterate I thought formatting it would remove all the files on the T7...also how do I do what you said🫣🫣sorry

Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel 🥹❤️
If you are backing up a few apple devices to the Macbook, the 512GB capacity would be an issue?
Hey Marina, why not the Crucial X9 pro which is smaller, cheaper, and has a longer warranty (5 years vs. 3 years)?
I've used external SSDs with my Macs for years, for storage and for Time Machine.

Bought an iMac and spent the money for it on the RAM instead and added 2 of the T9s (quasi RAID) style and it works so well and no fear of data loss.

I'd agree if the storage options didn't affect the life span of the Mac. Unfortunately the lower storage options have fewer read write operations.
What do you mean? Storage affects the life span of a Mac?
This only applies going from the 256 to 512 I believe. @@nala8631

Great video. I have the C7 and it works extremely well with my MacBook Air 2.

You will probably need to format the SSD as ExFAT
Just make sure to back up everything before formatting!

No better way to improve my English watching you. As a plus getting some tech tips 🇧🇷 😅
I bought my own TB4 external enclosure and SSD. It was cheaper and faster.
Vamoooooo🎉
