But due to prolonged war, low harvests, and several natural disasters the Soviet economy was still in trouble, particularly its agricultural sector. It had many flaws, communism isn't very stable and as good as it seems. Adding onto that you are talking about the 1920s era which was around the time of the great depression, the American economy grew much faster than the soviet economy, and many americans were homeless, but what you dont realize is that unemployment and homelessness is good for a countrys economy, because if everyone has jobs, inflation would become a majour issue. But in the soviet union that was not really the case.
