  • If you like cheap RC’s then I think I may have found something for you, the Rage R/C Mini Trek. It seems like every day we get emails offering free cheap RC cars for us to review, but almost all the time we decline the invitation. The one you’re about to see here wasn’t offered to us, we placed the order. The Mini Trek truggy styling caught Greg’s eye and he thought it would be a fun cheap RC to try out and fulfill the requests we’ve had for more cheap RC reviews. So watch as we go over the details of this tiny off-road fun haver and see if it will hold up to some small scale bashing.

    As much as I like my 1/4 and 1/5 scale stuff there is always a special place in my heart for micros. I still have a fully aluminum and carbon fiber brushless Losi micro-t. Now the losi micros, especially the 1/36 scale ones, are pretty collectible so I don’t run them a much I would like too. I was very happy when the Mini-t was re-released because there is just something fun about the throttle control needed to run a two wheel drive small scale car when it is brushless swapped. I would even run 3s in my brushless micro-t!

    • @rcdriver
      @rcdriver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahh I wish I still had a place to run large scale gas. They just sit on a shelf. But yeah lots of cool small scale stuff for quick Rc fun.

      Me too! My last upgrade years ago was the 10,250kv brushless motor upgrade from the lower KV one that came in the kit and a set of losi oil shocks, question now... What put my micro desert truck on the shelf was those damn losi oil shocks broke the eyelets off the end of shock and I couldn't find replacements any idea where I can still get good oil shock for it?or what company makes a good set. The micros really need them once brushless on 3 cell, also ever found a reliable metal diff for them? Thx!

    • @Cr125stin
      @Cr125stin ปีที่แล้ว

      @@romper4444 I have the oil shocks as well. The only oil shocks that I know about for the micro-t were the Losi ones. You would have to keep on eye out on eBay I guess. But you will pay up for them! As far as the diff I only ever ran the stock losi diffs. I don’t think they ever made a ball diff for the micro like they did the mini. On 3s it was common for me to blow those diffs up even keeping them lubricated. It’s just not sensible for me to beat up the little micros on 3s brushless because the parts are harder to find and they are pretty expensive these days. That’s why I wish they’d come back out with a 1/32 micro-t so I can have my fun again!!

    They are nice I got six total for the whole family and my 3 younger beat on them daily. 3 key weak spots. 1) pinion compartment needs to be sealed. A spec of dirt and it grinds. 2) the upper front A arms crack at the mold seam on the pivot pin. 3) the ball end on the steering knuckles are soft aluminum. They bend then break off requiring a new knuckle. I've found fixes for all. Other than that they are a blast for the price.

    I just purchased this! My old Redcat Sumo was down and wanted a new 1/24th scale. This is the best one to date. Also, the Redcat Sumo aluminum shocks are a direct fit for this truggy! Now i have better suspension.

    I'd really like to see them bring back an updated version of the Losi 1/36 scale Micro T;s . They're such awesome vehicles with excellent parts and upgradeability . They just need a 2.4 GHZ radio system to make them modern IMO . I still have several that work perfectly to this day . The only issue is the very outdated crystal system .

    I'll have to pick one up! 1/24th micros these days are either crawlers or drifters, it's rare to find truggies. I still have my Redcat Sumo 1/24th from 10 years ago, love that little truck, but the radio sucks, picks up interference way too easily.

    There are certainly some design details to the car that remind me of how the Redcat Sumo 1/24 scale RCs were built, the non-crawlers. The main chassis and motor placement is different, but the shocks, wheels, diffs, and associated parts look like direct fits. Maybe will have to pick one up just to compare directly to my, now ancient, Redcat Sumo buggy.

    I wish they came with oil filled shocks. It's too bouncy with the quick shock rebound which makes it difficult to control.
    I've been on the lookout for a quality 4wd micro truggy. The best I've found so far is the LC Racing EMB-T 1/14th. It's great, but I'm trying to go smaller scale for those winter indoor basement sessions.

    • @rcdriver
      @rcdriver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s the scx mini rock crawlers issue with me as well it shouldn’t be that hard to add oil filled mini shocks to these things. Understand it’s more expensive but add an optional upgrade for like 20 bucks for 4 of them I’d be all over it.

      I'm sure they harder to make than the larger and people would complain they cost too much so I guess everyone decided its not worth making oil filled micro shocks , I was going say just buy a set oil filled for this truggy bc you never find a perfect micro truggy or regular too for that matter unless you buy a kit this one already has metal diffs and bearings so if shocks are available I'd say with micro truggys this best going do , I have mini ts you can run those indoors , I also have 24 scale team acosiated but they are really toyish and still 70$
