Wow guys ...! In a world where every aspect of photography has been covered so many times, this conversation is something special. The empathy, quality and depth with which photographic topics are discussed here is rare in my opinion. Thank you for making my day Paulie and Reuben! Greetz from Hamburg, Jann
At first I was like… this guy seems pretentious… then I realized… no, I’m the pretentious one. What a philosopher! Guess I need to start reading more books. Beauty video man!
Man...every time I listen to him talk, I learn something new. I share the same problem with feeling like my work needs to be something besides just making pictures. It almost felt selfish to not have a big mission like other photographers do. Reuben said exactly what my reason is...for mental and spiritual balance. It makes me feel alive, and it's a way to connect with others. Really great episode again!
This is such a good way of talking/thinking about photography, it is so helpful to have these videos as someone who loved these type of talks at uni this is really inspiring to listen to reuben talk
I've watched every single video of your channel and I just wanted to say if there would be nothing on TH-cam but your stuff I'd be fine. Keep up the good work Paulie.
Two great artistic minds talking Photography and sharing the wealth. What else does you want. Times flies listing to you two and it is always to short IMO Thanks guys for the effort and sharing.
Another great conversation with Reuben, Paulie! The street photography world feels so much like the punk, skater, DIY scene that I grew up in. It’s amazing to see that mindset still pervasive in Reuben (and maybe you too, Paulie?) after all these years. I know that it’s always been a major part of my life’s operating system since I was first introduced to it and I’m glad to see it welling up in myself and others once again. 😊
another great show! thanx for keeping the ideas flowing. and thanx to reuben for bringing the deeper view. i'm digging all the episodes, but this one is golden! now... back to work! P
this was really great to listen to. im a 19 year old photographer who has been taking photos for about three now. right now im struggling with seeing something deeper in my photos than what I put there, Im feeling kind of lost in art and don't know where my attention should be.
Wow, the idea of having something at stake was very helpful for me. Been doing street photography for about 8 months now and hitting a point where I'm trying to define what I'm even pursuing other than "making pictures."
same boat for me. for the last three years I've been so focused on making photos that look good that I don't know why I do it. but maybe that's just part of the process?
He talks about not trying to „copy“ other peoples work, but can you not try to copy a style and take what you like about it and from that form your personal style? I‘m just starting out watching all these videos at night to see and learn how others do it while I can‘t, so I’m just curious
Great series and that part about composition especially. I think he hit the nail on the head for me personally. My pictures are often just too passive. Subject, expression all there but the „meta“ composition often is just too plain and there isn’t much to look at except the subject.
so much free game. nice to have these conversations as a palate cleanser between gear talk. this is the important shit
Everyone probably already seen it, but Walkie / Talkie with RR is excellent
Agreed--- one of the best episodes
Totally agree. One of my favorite videos on photography. Definitely thought provoking.
i could ear Reuben talk about photography for hours, i feel i'm always learning something from his vison
"It's about being in a process that dissolves the sense of distance between you and the rest of humanity". I really like that.
"a process that dissolves the sense of distance between you and the rest of humanity" ... Love this.
The discussion on frames is crazy free game!
Ruben deserves his own channel.

I came for the photography tips, but I stayed for the charming banter between Reuben and Paulie. #OfficeHoursGoals
Reuben's words are pure gold! I'm gonna have to watch that video a few more times to get everything he's saying.
Always very inspiring when Ruben tells. It's great that Paulie gives him this space.
THIS WAS VERY VALUABLE, if you don't save this video to help remind yourself you tripping. Good stuff Paulie
"Objects in space" - Great name for a book or zine.
Reuben seems like a hugger to me. But only if you've earned it.
THIS GUY SPEAKS TRUTH THAT SHOULD BE EMBEDDED IN THE BIBLE PAGES FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS! I GOTTA ATTEND HIS WORKSHOP ONE DAY!!!💯
new fan of Reuben.. I love the frame and shape within framing convo on composition. really info in this Vid, Thank you both
Reubens is a brilliant facilitator and really explains the whole photographic process so succinctly. Would love to do a course with him.👍🇦🇺😎
I love how he draws inspiration from musicians as well.
These videos are sooooo worth everyone’s time to watch. This one is worth more than 75 percent of videos on this subject

Great content!✌️😎
Thank you! 👊🏼
amazing content!
So helpful! If I can see the shapes when I edit, is there any hope that someday I’ll see them in the wild?
RR THE LEGEND
What camera strap are you rocking at the start of the video?
I think they are hyperion straps
So good. What kind of camera strap is Reuben using?
I’d pay to see a recorded Masterclass course by Ruben.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you both...
Interesting chat.
You need to make a podcast
Anyone know what black jacket is using reuben?
It's an M-65 army surplus field jacket. Alpha Industries make them.
What Camera has Ruben ?
It looks like a Leica M-P (Typ 240).

yo
Reuben.. put something new on Substack 👍🏻😉
Should “WE” say anything more? Who’s this “we”
yes
Dude is deep. Too deep for 4:27am. Not to self: rewatch/listen
I love this! You should do a walkie talkie with John Free. That would be amazing.:)
