    Hey Arafat and Shehzad, I'm a Pakistani Christian, listening to you and a few podcasters it's one of my way to productivity while compiling sales copies for different brands. tbh, I felt goosebumps while listening to both of you, this is a much-needed podcast and I would to thank you from the depth of our hearts on behalf of the Christian community of Pakistan, you both are amazing guys doing such a decent job. I hope that one day Pakistan will be free from religious extremism.

      Afrah it takes courage to personally question your parents and reach truth. Well done.
      & to the troll commentor, the followers and fellow nutters like Mumtaz Qadri don't follow the Quran and Islamic values. Quran is beautiful. We don't need obsessive hindutva trolls in the comments.

But khair, brave effort. Blasphemy law has been abused for way too long. Second, we need free societies where even if someone does criticise the prophet, we need to defend with facts and not force.

    Holy shit. Several years ago, in 2016 perhaps? I was refuting a madrissa friend on blasphemy laws and I was literally translated this whole DAWN article for my friend, in Urdu, because he does not understand English. I did it manually to convey my point, I remember it took me probably hours. When Arafat mentioned in podcast "he met Ismail" it reminded me of that article because author at point had said the same thing. I just looked up the article and it's written by Arafat Mazhar. ❤

      On a very basic level, the blasphemy law (sec 295A) is a relic of the British rule and it exists not only in Pak but also in India. As far as its applicability is concerned, it is applicable on all the religious communities in both India and Pakistan.
      The major difference is that after the partition, Pak later added 295b and 295c as well under which the punishment is death penalty.

    I have been following your podcast for a whole year now. This is the most important podcast I have ever heard in my life personally. I don't even care if this results in any change in Pakistan. It just resolves a lot of things in my head and my deep belief that my faith and my prophet PBUH is not reflected in the way the likes of TLP behave. I am still reading through the book as well (still no page numbers lol). I want to congratulate you for curating great podcasts, asking the right questions and giving us such gems. Arafat Mazhar is a genius and we must protect him. I will share it with my whole family and we will do a collective watch together in the lounge as well

    Alhamdollilah you both have made my day. I am one of those who just are mostly affected by this law. When I read the Holy Quran I wonder how our Muslims cannot understand that our Holy book tells us to stand against zulm and it does not say zulm only against the ones believed to be Muslims and it is zulm against any Muslim. I pray for the safety of both of you and all the other true Muslims like you. Extemism can vanish from all our Ummah (even if I am not considered to be part of that) if our leaders can only remember this ayat that our beloved prophet sallahu alihe wassalum is rehmatull- lilaalaameen. You made me once again a proud Pakistani. Fi amannallah.

    The idea of there being joy in our theology made me pause and try to (unsuccessfully) remember the last time I felt true joy whilst engaging in a religious practice.
    The constant n o i s e that we are subjected to in our everyday lives permeates our very souls and before we know it- we're unable to tell where we end and the prejudice begins.
    Everyone's rushing to get an A in their faith by any means necessary and anyone who fails to toe that line or rejects it completely gets kicked out of the room.
    I can't help but feel extremely aware of how much my environment plays a role in this. The subtle and insidious ways hate has seeped into the words and actions we are subjected to in our everyday lives has shaped us today, leaving us free to strip away the humanity of whomever we're displeased with at any given moment.
    And that is a terrifying thought. To have that kind of power running unchecked within us, among us.
    Thank you for this insightful, empathetic and rational conversation! The fact that a majority of the comment section is concerned for your safety speaks volumes about the fear that prevails. The fear of asking questions, of calling out what needs to be called out. And the fear, of giving second chances. Peace!

India has no blasphemy law yet every other day beheadings are planned and executed on account of the wazib-ul-qatl 'ness of a gustakh-e-rasool. Go back a 500 years(a blip in time in context of this ancient civilization) there has never been any such 'ijma' in this society. Shocked at this version of liberalism or liberal islam i must say: for the 1:40 mins I agree with this person, but when he disclosed his personal views (which he did bring in at the end close to 1hr 40min mark) they blew my mind away - So, what he is essentially suggesting is - whoever speaks against the prophet will have to be punished - but his view is, they should not be punished this hard. As long as people think, that criticizing anyone is hurtful, society will remain stuck. I think it would have been better to make his position clear at the start itself - and make it clear that he too believes there should be punishment for blasphemers - just not as hard. So, this entire podcast is essentially about saying, yes, punish them - just dont murder them - and this is progress. Good to know.

      great catch: I guess most of the viewers here are shocked at the topic itself....so they have lost it on seeing that this nutcase is himself part of the issue: he thinks that messing with the prophets IS NOT FREE SPEECH - then wtf is he lecturing us: because he only thinks they should be punished but not murdered. This is what progress in Pakistan looks like.

    Really brave of u Shehzad to make a podcast about such a sensitive topic. Props to u for taking such an initiative to speak on a topic which alot of people prolly won't cause of fear of the supporters of a certain political party whose sole moto is the supremacy of blasphemy law

      They were not religious flaws, they had crept into the culture over a period of time! Sanatan dharma is a philosophy which in my opinion is way more evolved than any of the Abrahamic religions.

    I don't understand why it is mandatory for a non-muslim to respect your prophets (with due respect) while a Muslim can openly abuse non-muslim's dieties or their religious beliefs? If you want to fix a punishment for non-muslim, then do the same for Muslims. Your religion is not the ONLY pious religion in the world. As a Muslim you abuse hindus, make fun of their idol worship and what not but if they pass any comment about your religion, then you feel the fire. Learn some tolerance.

    • @ThePakistanExperience
      @ThePakistanExperience  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A Muslim cannot insult other religions. That is also a crime under 295A

    • @akshaybatra1777
      @akshaybatra1777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @The Pakistan Experience yes but does the law actually function? Even muslim community won't punish those who insult other religions. Take example of interior sindh, pretty much every other day, hindu minor girls are being converted forcefully, muslims celebrate this as some kind of victory. You can't imagine the terror with which Non muslims live in Pakistan

    • @akshaybatra1777
      @akshaybatra1777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @The Pakistan Experience the so called law is always available to punish non muslims but it cripples when it comes to muslims. Cuz muslims are jannati

    • @zulqarnain401
      @zulqarnain401 ปีที่แล้ว

      Muslims do not disrespect Prophets of Judaism or Christianity. Neither do we disrespect dieties of other religion (except Qadianis or any such offshoot of Islam which do not accpet the finality of Prophethood), however, followers of such religions is a completely different story.

    Dear Shehzad,
    I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for your recent podcast episode on the blasphemy law in Pakistan. It was nothing short of extraordinary, and I cannot begin to express how important and courageous your discussion was.
    In a world where fear and silence often overshadow the truth, you and Arafat stood tall and took the leap to address a topic as sensitive and significant as the blasphemy law. It takes immense bravery to tackle such matters, knowing the risks involved and the backlash it might attract. Yet, you both fearlessly delved into the heart of the issue, shedding light on its complexities and implications.
    Your dedication to discussing issues that truly matter is remarkable. While some may resort to social media campaigns against you, attempting to silence your voice, we all recognize their true intentions. They seek to hinder conversations like the one you had, for they fear the power of truth and knowledge. But please know that their attempts are futile, for your work resonates deeply within the hearts and minds of those who genuinely care.
    I want to express my utmost gratitude to Arafat as well. His grace in uncovering the truth left a profound impact on me. By the end of the episode, tears streamed down my face, moved by the labor of love he poured into his research. It was evident that every word spoken, every source shared, carried the weight of sincerity and commitment to unveiling the truth. In a climate marred by violence and erasure, Arafat's dedication to sharing knowledge is an act of daring and an inspiration to us all.
    This podcast episode goes beyond mere words. It touches the very core of our existence and the values we hold dear. It reminds us of the importance of honest conversations about love and faith. It urges us to confront the darkness that shrouds our society, and it serves as a beacon of hope, illuminating a path towards understanding and progress.
    Shehzad, your work and the platform you have created, The Pakistan Experience, are catalysts for change. You have brought to light issues that have long been ignored or silenced, and you have ignited conversations that are vital for the growth and well-being of our nation. Please continue the brilliant work you do, knowing that you have an army of supporters who stand behind you, valuing the truth and the courage it takes to share it.
    In this journey, trolls and detractors will always exist, but they shall forever remain irrelevant and unknown. The impact you make on the lives of those who listen, who learn, and who are inspired by your words far outweighs their noise.
    Once again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your exceptional podcast episode. May it reach the depths of the hateful hearts and remind them of the power of love, empathy, and understanding. Let us strive for more conversations like this-honest, enlightening, and unafraid. Together, we can create a brighter and more inclusive future for all.
    With heartfelt gratitude and unwavering support,
    Saeed Risalat

    Let me say this for Pakistan: That land and people are inheritors of thousands of years of rich native cultures, traditions, languages and philosophies. They left everything, and are now fighting over Hanbali, Shafi, etc. They follow a religion that is divisive, that others everyone else, and at best, maybe relevant for the Arabian peninsula some 1,400 years ago. Time to consider.

    Law passed in 1986 was end story for Pakistan as a country. All these Fatawas were written by scholars were the creations of human minds. It is up to the individuals to take it or leave it. To remain peaceful should be the condition.

    The clips show the extremism in Islam. How emotionally charged they are? How do they use rhetoric to pent up the public? I think you should criticise even Quran. The idea of infallibility is essentially led to rigidity. Science and rational thinking are based on fallibility. Both ideas cannot reconcile with each other no matter what. Indian social reformers challenge every idea in society. They kept good ideas and threw away bad ones. Current saints try to justify even their ideas based on some kind of rationality. The differences in societies are clear.
