Old Crosman's seem to attract those green and white paint drips too! Like my 160 Pellgun variant 1. Green and white drips all over the stock. Restored it a few years ago.

Old BB guns have the magical ability to attract paint drops, might be because they become invisible from time to time while leaning in a corner of some closet.

Thanks Shane!😉👍Don't aim high, aim small. I need some of that .180 lead shot for an early 1914 model 25 that was orig. black chrome. Pre-production? Maybe late 1913? I need to contact the museum to nail it down. Thanks for showing what you don't see every day. Great content!

The gamo lead shot was a touch small, one of the other commenters suggested using thin paper as a patch like our forebears did with the old school muzzle stuffers. I'm gonna give that a try.

For anyone out there needing .21 caliber lead shot for the early air rifles like say, Quackenbush
I bought a Rock Tumbler from Hobo Freight and buy .22 caliber shot and put it in with some water and sand and a light oil and let it roll and stop and measure 5 of them with a pair of vernier calipers from aforementioned business until they measure correctly and
      VOILA!
There ya go! Hope that solves your problem and you can laugh at people wanting like $900.00 for 200 shots!!!!!
PS: Your Daughters hilarious interjections are great!
      Y’all are a perfect couple!🎉

Amazing it still shoots fantastic condition , It kind of reminded of an old gas pump handle, maybe rolling papers to help act as a wad to hold the shot in place is my guess for a cheap fix

I'm gonna try that, it can't be needing to much to seat properly.

Hello, thanks so much for posting this! I have a question and hoped you could help. My father just gifted me with one of these and it is damaged. The plunger rod is broken and I believe it should have some sort of a hook on it that had broken off. Do you have any images of the end of the plunger shaft where it gets pulled back to cock it?
    Thanks for any help,
    Jeff Bruce

Sadly no. I did not disassemble this gun out of fear of breaking something and being unable to obtain/fab parts. I have not seen any schematics on the interwebz that apply to this gun. I'd trek over to the Daisy Talk forum and see if anyone there can point you in the right direction

      Hello!
I have pictures of the innards of my Daisy 20th Century Rifle!
      Happy to share.
Didn’t realize that the “Seal” on the Piston would be Leather.
      Nope.
It’s very thin candle wick string, almost like thread!
I also believe I read somewhere that the really early Rifles used Sperm Whale Oil to Properly keep them lubricated!
Don’t know how to post pics yet.

    • @glennsmith1797
      @glennsmith1797 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I did manage to post 2 videos on TH-cam showing the cocking pull rod assembly and the piston, spring, pull rod with the curved end that is the trigger sear tip. And the Candle Wick String wrapped around the piston head (that was clearly missing or shrunk from age and not really sealing anymore) of which I might replace with original type medium or possibly try fabricating a leather seal. Undecided at this time, accepting suggestions at this time.
I have never made a TH-cam video before so please accept my apologies for the lack of professionalism.🤣
I guess you can find it by searching: Daisy 20th Century Air Rifle…..

Glenn, stopped by and dropped a like on both of your shorts. Outstanding! You could follow that up with some dimensions on length of the hook style part. Jeff from the comments above is looking for that kind of info for a build. @@glennsmith1797

What a cool Daisy! I liked that your daughter was asking to film the roll stamp (as per your usual) and a bit of a bummer that it didn't have a roll stamp. Do you know when Daisy started roll stamping their guns?

I have one like this in exactly the same patina!
It would shoot when I first got it but….
Of course i’m an Expert at disassembling anything, and a Noobie at ever actually completing anything!!!😂😂😂🤣🤣
I found it was the easiest rifle to disassemble and repair and reassemble out of the many I have acquired and repaired and or refurbished.
    One of my Faves!
Wondering what your thoughts on completely replating it with a fresh nickel coating on all of the original pieces?
The stock is in about the same condition as the one in this video maybe even nicer.
Should I give it a light sanding and new clear coat?

The refinish or leave it as it is question is entirely up to you. Most Daisy collectors would faint at the idea of re-nickling the gun or touching the stocks. Congrats on getting the gun apart as the one in the video defeated me with a stuck stock bolt and I was afraid of marring it if I got too vigorous with it. If you do re-nickel the gun then it would make sense to address the butt stock.

Possibly. It's still a bit strange to me but might have had local meaning back in 1898.

Mine holds more of the chrome color on it and it says Daisy on the one side and instead of 20th century it says REPEATER. The guns that say 20th Century on them were in fact made in late 1899-1900. Model was made from 1898-1902 they just had different sub variants, etc.

Great Great Grandfather bought the Daisy for his 5 year old son which is my Great Grandfather on the same day he bought himself a Winchester 1894 single ring carbine in 30 WCF and yes have both bought in 1900 and both are in great shape....Win is nicer than the Daisy overall but both are very nice. Actually in looking at this closer...mine can load more than one at a time but has very short tube...maybe hold 8-10 at a time but other wise it is exactly the same. Even has the same stock swivel.

Does a new Red Ryder also perform well with those Gamo 177 lead roundball bbs? Or do you need a slightly smaller one for a non-worn barrel?

in modern shot gun pellets the size "BB" is .180dia and a 25 pound bag of said shot would be a lifetime supply for a little one and his daisy

    • @cameronlamb7274
      @cameronlamb7274 ปีที่แล้ว

That’s most likely what this was made to shoot but even modern lead shot isn’t perfectly round. Only one who carry’s lead bb shot anymore is ballistic products as far as I can find Lead BB shot is all but dead bc we can’t use lead on waterfowl.
