This video is about the output voltage of a computer UPS in backup mode. Test was done on a "600 VA" and a "1000 VA" UPS. Even though the output voltage mentioned is 230 VAC, during absence of "Mains" the output voltage is much lower. This video is made for educational purpose.
I was worried about my ups output voltage, when it is in backup mode. After watching this video I am cleared about this matter. Thank you so much

Sir I measured the output ac voltage in back up mode with a proper digital voltmeter. It showed a voltage of only 165voltage, but as soon as I loaded a 100 w bulb to it the voltage went up to 230v . My ups brand is microtek modified 50hz sine wave 600va or 360w max. So I did not understand how it happened in my case. I think my ups has a feature of increasing the output voltage according to the load being connected to it. Is it? Is not it??? Please answer
yes that how it should work. output voltage must be maintained with the mentioned spec. In some cases the output voltage will get reduced far below the mentioned spec on load. In the specs it would have mentioned (+/-) % with the output voltage.
@@vijudav oh yes I have seen the same +\- Mark beside the out put voltage. By the way can i run a 50 watt 50hz table fan with this ups ?????? I have connected bigger batteries with it and a separate charge controller.

Every seller advertising ups output voltage 230V. They not being transperant with customers. Gaming computeers can't handle by this ups. It may cause shutdown or reboot during power cut.
Sir I have 550watt 80+ bronze certified psu and my PC specs are Ryzen 5 3600, gigabyte GTX 1650 super , 8+8ddr4(3200mhz) ram , 240gb ssd , 1tb HDD, 3 fans , 1 cpu stock cooler , 1mouse& keyboard , 1 24inch monitor(btw it is TV) and I have Zebronics 600 va UPS-U725
So is it bad for my pc ? I don't need much back but what I just need is when power out then I have enough time to save my work and shutdown my pc .

@@vijudav yeh i get enough backup to save my work and instantly shutdown the pc but I'm worry about the voltage drop when the lights out as you shown in video , when lights out my ups provide 168-172V so should I use "Stabilizer" to maintain 230V ? Btw in ideal condition my pc power consumption is 300watt .
Stabilizer is not required. Your computer SMPS will handle the voltage drop.
@@vijudav thanks for clearing my confusion , and make more videos like this because this type of knowledge is hard to find on TH-cam , mostly people just talk about what to use in pc and how to build pc etc. But after building a pc if voltage fluctuation , earthing etc. is not proper at home then no Matter how expensive pc anyone can buy , that is going to damage from rough conditions of home.

There could be another reason .
So if anyone tries to connect the Mains directly to UPS output it should not allow the Loop to occur while on battery .. hence it's preset to only be on mains n start charging after a certain voltage( that is definitely higher to the output voltage on Battery ) for any UPS.

Dear sir, Thank you for posting this video. I bought a new UPS and I wondered why this low Voltage. Actually its measured 165 V. I thought it may be due to battery issues. I contacted technical people from UPS side and they did not elaborate about this. Now I understand this is normal. Am I right?

Sir i have a pc with normal specs 8gb ram 2gb graphic card 1 tb hardisk and Samsung's 24 inches monitor and zebronic rgb keyboard and mouse and ...in my home there is luminous inverter and when light goes my system turn's off immediately and starts again after 1 second and also some time in our home there is kow voltage and voltage fluctuations and also there is no stabilizer in my house so should i buy both( stabilizer and ups or only ups or if only ups then Which one or pls tell that if i buy only ups and if there is low voltage then will it increase the voltage protect my pc by sudden Voltage drop or low voltage please tell me which ups should i buy and is That stabilizer is really needed or should i save my money???????

In backside of the inverter there will be switch "Inverter mode / UPS mode" , change it to UPS mode. This will resolve the issue. Also let me know the voltage level during voltage fluctuation. Accordingly u will need a stabilizer.
@@vijudav actually I don't know exactl voltage level during fluctuations but some time there is very low voltage so can i use only ups?? Or when there is light only then there is voltage fluctuations and low voltage problem when light goes off invertor takes 1 second to on so ups will resolve it or do i really need a separate stabelizer!!
One more thing in my inverter there is light ups light which turns on automatically when light goes without even opening that specific ups switch behind invertor can u explain?
if there a UPS MODE switch, then turn it "ON" and check it resolves the issue when there is a power cut. Then i can answer what's next ..
when there is very low voltage or high voltage, ups will automatically disconnect the "Mains" and will run on battery mode..

No, you cannot use two UPS and parallel its output. It will short circuit. You need use high capacity UPS. According to the projector load.
Sir i connect 28ah battery with computer ups. When power goes out the UPS gone off. When no load is given the output voltage from UPS is 156v.battery voltage is 12.8v .

my ups battery mode output is around 160-170v but very high Hz .. 90-100Hz
my psu can handle 100-240vac 50/60Hz
its not recommended. change in frequency mains effects inductive loads. but in this case its not recommend either to use other than the recommended frequency of PSU.

I have 2 UPS, 1 with Sinewave the brand is ACCUPOWER same battery the output is 220volts in backup, my other UPS with brandname of Silvertech, with same battery only produce 140volts. this silvertech is squarewave i think it have to do with waves in DC in electronics
In DC we don't have any wave form. Only in AC, we have square wave, modified sinewave and sinewave

Check the input power supply specification mention by the manufacturer in the label or manual. Its important even though it has an SMPS section. Also home UPS ( commonly used for pc at home ) mostly are not pure sine wave.

are you running the ups in battery mode or under mains mode? Normally UPS voltage don't drop to that extend. It will disconnect the output.
Might be ups just outputting square wave and multimeter cannot measure true rms.

LED tv's will have SMPS type power supply, it will work with little wide range of voltage. But it would be better to check TV's input voltage range.

kindly check the ups output voltage in battery mode. If it's 180v, then its not recommended to connect the tv. As your input voltage for tv is 220 to 240.

have you tested the output voltage after connecting the load?
Your UPS delivers 220 volts step approximated sine wave which your multimeter cannot read accurately, don't worry UPS is fine.
in my ups when i connect the mains the pc is working but when ups be on battery mode then output is low and pc is not starting

UPS issue. On Inverter mode ( battery mode ) output voltage is high. Don't use. Only use branded UPS.
Lets do this to the way I understand.
You're using a UPS, identical to my APC UPS, and I guess those UPS is the offline one that do mimicking or outputting modified sinewave.
(FOR INFO) There are 3 class of UPS being utilized nowadays. Offline, Online and Interactive.
On the other hand is your multimeter that identical to the one I posses and I guess those meter is not True RMS. They can't race over the pure sinewave, and does impurity in voltage reading when used in modified sinewave.
This is what happen when we do work with the wrong equipment.
If you use a True RMS multimeter it would give you the best possible voltage reading, in either modified sinewave, or pure sinewave.
(FOR INFO) Modified sinewave is not advisable to anything that includes induction motor and related.
And also, UPS voltage don't sink down like what is being illustrated in the video even in battery mode. If it does, then it is good as damaged.
UPS shown are not old. They are new and unpacked few days back. These are the UPS's that are commonly available in the market. If you have any doubt you can buy a new one as the same model and test.
These types of UPS will not cause any damage to your computer or related devices, as the devices have SMPS power supply. They convert AC to DC (Hope you understand how any SMPS power supply works.
I have even tested with True RMS meter and didn't see difference in voltage. Iam not comparing with APC brand.
This video is just for information and awareness purpose only. Because many people are think of using it for their home load, instead of buying an Pure Sine Wave Inverter.

If the voltage is low, then the UPS will switch to UPS mode ( Battery Mode). If that's not working, then check the UPS battery. If its under warranty, then claim for warranty.
sometimes my voltage drops to 50 on battery.for a second it shows 50 (2digit voltage) and go back to 170
Kindly check with different voltmeter, if same then it can cause some issue..

Normally BLDC fan's, LED lights and Tube light with electronic choke will work without any issue. LED tv should work, but some TV manufactures mention voltage range higher than UPS output voltage in battery mode.

sir if you have low voltage issue in your area, then you can buy a triple booster or double booster stabilizer according to your area voltage. In case if you are going for stabilizer, you need to connect it before the UPS. i.e. from mains to stabilizer and from stabilizer to ups and then to computer.
If budget is not an issue , then i will suggest to go for "OFF Grid" solar pure sine wave inverter with adequate solar panels, which will reduce your EB bill and also run your house hold equipment's. Also protect your sensitive electronic equipment's from erratic voltage issues.

sir you mentioned the voltage range was "250 to 70" in your question, so "70" was typing mistake from your side. its ok..

@vijudav Why don't the UPS companies show this in their specifications? Infact what they show on paper is that the output voltage is 220 volts +/- 8 . I tested my apc bvx 700 and the output on the multimeter , on battery is around 154 volts. This is really so ridiculous because if the very equipment we are spending so much money to protect our devices may actually be causing harm to them by providing them less than the stipulated voltage.
@@nrikhy2793 Normal computer UPS don't output pure sine wave on battery mode. Even nowadays home inverters output pure sine wave on battery mode.
@vijudav Yes I agree. These ups companies are selling outdated technology to people. Most modern electronics use in their power supply Active Power factor correction technology (A -PFC ) and these electronics don't like simulated sinewave power ( square wave) . For example modern Led TV.

computer ups in mains mode deliver the output voltage as same as the input voltage. Only voltage drop in battery mode, which is ok for CPU and monitor. As they are designed for that kind of use.
