thanks! i did know that, i was being an idiot. and i think i agree. i've owned a whole heap of Volvos and I get on best with this model, and this engine / gearbox combination.
Surprisingly if you lay the front seats in a 940 right back, they are so comfortable your easy get a great night's sleep .. Thou it's HUDGE I won't recommend sleeping in the rear ( especially if you lay out the rear seats and boot like Geoff did ) Because of security issues.. 🤔 If the driver is sleeping on the driver's seat, they only need bring it forward and to be in the driving position ( the Volvo's roof being very low, it is NOT easy to climb over to reach the driver's position ) !!! Unless you feed confident in dealing with a possible assault, then Exiting the car is an absolute NO NO Ps My Wife and I absolutely loved our 940 wagon ( one of the best cars we have owned ) We used it to tour extensively 🤗
Ps, ( should you so wish too ) it's a simple mod to disable ( turn off ) the automatic " Runnin Lights " so that they only operate on the Lights Switch
Just about every Volvo built up to the 940 series is exceptionally well built, however 240 being far less complex is likely to be less troublesome Not that this series of car is particularly " troublesome" But remember you will be dealing with a 30+ year old car ( which could have suffered neglect in recent years ) 🤗

Not rust. The boot lid is aluminium. You can safely ignore it. IMO, this is the best car Volvo ever made.
