Ah man I feel your pain - I often go and try horses for clients.
I was running an RDA Center, and we were looking for horses.
1 we took on trial, but the first day I got on him in the school he fell over, turns out he was a wobbler (who we suspect had been drugged).
Another I was told was “the dream RDA pony”, if you touched him with your leg he bucked ferociously.
The next was apparently “bombproof”, when I went to mount she said “oh careful, he’s cold backed”…ahhh…”oh and don’t touch hi s mouth!”, so I thought well, I’ll wtc and politely decline, his hooves touched the sand and he shot off and played wall of death round the school - whilst the owner screamed “don’t sit on his back - don’t you DARE PULL HIS TEETH!!!” 😂 He eventually stumbled, tripped and bronked, throwing me THROUGH the arena wall, I ended up in A and E.
The owner then called, genuinely baffled as to why I didn’t think he would be a perfect horse for RIDING FOR THE DISABLED.

Wow this turned out to be an amazing journey you’ve had in finding your way to owning Nelly. Nelly looks to be so calm I thought she was a gelding at first seeing her be so chill behind you.
It was interesting for sure! She wasn't what I was looking for at all but is turning into something very special!! ☺️ She had her mare moments but mostly is a big softy! X

I'm kind of dreading when I have to go view horses. Mostly because of my chronic illness, so I know it'll be hard for me physically.

@@TwoJollyJockeys No, I have to save more money first. Horses in Norway are extremely expensive. Like you cannot find anything under 100 000 Nok, often more. So I'm going to Sweden probably, but then I need to pay 25% in VAT at the border... so it is still insanely expensive. So probably another year and a half. I also need to be healthier first. If I can make it through till next summer without getting worse, having my part loan horse 4 days a week, then I'm on the right track. I also need to be well enough the days I'm not at the barn, to live more "normal" as right now I'm mostly resting.

@@TwoJollyJockeys thank you! It's a stupid illness with no medication or treatment, and it likes to f**k with me and let me think things are going great, only to have be bedridden for a week... so I have to make sure I don't overdo it with any activity.
Really informative in that it proves the point if your gut says no, go with it, you obviously made the right choice and she was worth waiting for x

i’m confused how you had an instructor and no horse?
I have never owned my own, always ridden for other people. So I had instructors to teach me on other people's horses ☺️
