Okieee everyone- we are a couple days before apps are due! Here is my ranking for the seven colleges of UCSD : (for engineering majors put Warren first) 1. Sixth 2. Muir 3. Marshall 4. Seventh 5. Warren 6. ERC 7. Revelle
Hello, I'm an international applicant to UCSD, intending to major in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. I've done extensive research on the colleges at UCSD but couldn't find sufficient information. I came across your TH-cam video, and I believe your insights could be immensely helpful for me. With limited time left to apply, could you please recommend colleges that are in close proximity to the engineering school and offer good dormitories with quality food? Thank you for your assistance.
Thanks for the video! Two questions: Am I able to change my college choices after turning in my application (on nov 30th)? And, how are you able to live in Sixth if you're a Marshall student? Is that common?
Great question! You will not be able to change your college choice after you turn in your application unless you email someone at admissions. Even if you email them, I'm not sure if they will be able to do anything. I would proceed as if you won't be able to change it. As for your second question, UCSD has overadmitted for some time so I was moved to "overflow" housing. This is definitely not the case for all Marshall students- but there are a handful of us in Sixth right now. So to answer your question, nope it's not common- I def got lucky!
I’m a transfer student so idk how much of this applies to me. Sounds like u can take classes at the different colleges since ur a Marshall College student living in 6th College taking classes at Warren College. Im going into Computer Science. That’s what I was most worried and confused about, like if we had to do everything within our own college. Sounds like it’s not. Thanks!
Great Question! So you don't take classes within your college- you can take classes from anywhere. For example, bio classes can be in buildings closer to Revelle and math can be in Warren Lecture Hall. The college classification is only for housing and your GEs. lmk if you have any follow up questions.
Glad it was helpful! To answer your question - the building is in Muir however none of the math classes are located in there. Math classes are held wherever. For example, my math classes this semester were both located in Warren.
So you don’t necessarily have to live in the college you choose? For instance if I chose warren for the GE’s but wanted to live in sixth for the environment. (I’m pursuing CS)
So where you are housed on campus is up to HDH, not us. So, chose a college that also represents where you wish to live since you most likely will be living in that college.
As a prospctive CS major student this is my top 3 ranking: 1. Warren 2. Sixth 3. Muir Do you believe its a good ranking list to go ahead with? I love STEM, don't like humanities.
Hey i am applying for UCSD as a international student for computer science major. Could u please suggest the collages best for me in ranking that would be great
Usually students are placed in housing that is associated with their college. There is a slight chance you may be placed elsewhere but that's usually because of overflow. If you are coming in as a first year, where you live isn't determined by you.

I’m a cs major, I will have IGETC completed, do I have to worry about completing any GEs? If not, if I remove that GE factor, how should I rank them? Also eighth college popped up, any news about it? EDIT: COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE I THINK. Since transfers supposedly don’t live at the colleges, the biggest factor one must check is left over GEs to complete at the varying colleges
Humm I'm not really familiar with IGETC but if you wanted a ranking of colleges without considering the GEs (so dining, location, and housing would be considered) then I would chose Sixth, Eighth, Seventh and the rest are arbitrary.
@@shreyanaguI see, turns out transfer students don’t even live at the colleges and that there are still some varying leftover GES to do at the colleges
If GEs, it’s roughly same as 7th college. Just do sixth, Muir, warren (this is the top if you’re doing engineering major). Then marshall(good if you have lots of APs) / 7th /8th. Then erc/revelle.
Good question! At the time I was making this video, Eighth was just announced so I didn't have much information on it to rank it with the other colleges. But don't worry, I'm filming a new video with Eighth in mind!
Hey guys! I just dropped an updated version of this video with better lighting and content, i promise! Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/MHP0Yf78TXg/w-d-xo.html
literally filling out my UC apps watching this... IT REALLY HELPED thank you sm
ahhh glad to be of help!
Sixth was called camp snoopy back in the day when it was new when I was at UCSD lol. Can’t believe there’s now two more colleges added lol
I'm literally ranking them right now thanks for your help : )
OMG OMG SHREYA THIS IS SUCH AN AMAZING VIDEO 🎉🎉🎉

Which college would be best for a marine biology major??😭 thank you so much !!
No college is best for a particular major (except warren for engineering students)- it only will change your location, GEs, and housing.

Hi my daughter admitted for 2024 as an international student in data science. Plz tell me how do dorms are alloted. Do we get any choice?
this was very helpful!
This helped out a lot, thank you very much! As a prospective math major, I heard the Mathematics building is around the Muir area, is this true ?
Glad it was helpful! To answer your question - the building is in Muir however none of the math classes are located in there. Math classes are held wherever. For example, my math classes this semester were both located in Warren.

Ya this good! Maybe replace Muir with Seventh if you don't mind walking to places but still want nice dorms.

I think following the colleges I listed out in the video would be perfect! Just put Warren or Sixth at the top of your list!
