Great video. Very slow and smooth operations just like the prototype.Your layout proves that you don't need a large layout to have a great ops session. Thanks for posting.- Tom

Very nice video, I liked it. My question is, it appears to me as though the cars are sort of pulsing along, such as at 2:40. I have seen this on other train videos as well. Does anyone else notice this? Is it due to how dc motors and/or controllers work? Or is it just the way it appears on video? I don't think it's on my end because I don't notice it on other videos that are not model train related. As a side note, I run my trains on old school analog DC, and I can see some pulsing type movement at low speeds with my trains as well. Thanks for answering my question!

I've also noticed this 'pulsing' effect on my videos. I always thought it some sort of problem with my PC. Certainly nothing to do with the smooth running of trains at low speed, they are fine.

Ok thanks for the reply.....like I mentioned I have seen it on several other model train videos from other people as well, so it's not a unique issue.

It's a frame-rate issue in the video encoder. On a computer, you can pause the video and then use the comma and period keys to go backwards and forwards one frame at a time. When you do that on this video, you see that every fourth frame is identical to the previous one. If you look more closely, you see that the amount of movement from one frame to the next follows a repeating pattern of zero, small, big, small. So, on average, the train moves one unit of distance per frame but, in reality, it successively moves zero, one, two, one units, which is why the video looks jerky.
Unfortunately, while I am able to tell you exactly what the problem is, I have no clue what causes it or how to fix or avoid it.
