  • A short video of my new small switching layout - Westbrook. Inspired by Pan Am Railways branch line from Portland ME to Westbrook ME. More info and pics of the layout can be found here: www.rmweb.co.uk/community/inde...

I have watched all your videos. I can't believe how great your scenery AND buildings look. You've done a great job! I really love looking at your videos to get ideas of my own. GREAT WORK

Nice work on the scenery and weathering the rolling stock. Very realistic.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to use stepper motors for these?
They should be a lot less jerky because they have quite a bit more torque than a standard dc motor.

Nice SD-26. Is it bashed? (kitbashed)

    How is the uncoupling accomplished?

+David Goessling I was wondering the same thing. I'm new to this modern modeling. It seems that most of these video authors will only respond to those in the "same know" as themselves. These are more for "pat on the back" than for expanding the art.

+SMOBY44 The kadee are uncoupled manually (trip pins removed). For the videos the' big hand in the sky' is edited out

I don't know how he does it here but an excellent and cheap method is using a skewer stick. You just stick it straight down into the couplers and they pop right apart. We use this method and it works flawlessly. I was worried early on that the couplers would break easily but they don't.

Great scenery (where I could see it) - great buildings (again where I could see them) - but real boring switching video. I need to see thngs from higher to see the solutions to problems with switching. This is a very good video but I feel that it just shows cars being taken down different tracks without any explanation of why they are there.
