HOW TO: Diagnose Stihl chainsaw stopping, bogging, dying mid cut. Stihl 029 neighbor james

Hey Neighbors! I discovered yesterday when I went to sharpen chains it was 3/8" pitch, and this saw has a standard .325" sprocket. This was PART of the saws issue, but it is still not performing to par after installing 3/8" sprocket. Neighbor James has his saw back, the pawn shop gave him a partial refund (not enough in my opinion biven ALL the broken chit), and he is considering buying an MS290 I have.

Well it's not tuning that tells me air leak. But can't know for sure with China carb. Good luck and get that metering level perfect because they are touchy bad. Good luck.

Saw actually passed vac pressure test.... it was largely due to a 3/8" bar and chain on a .325 sprocket in terms of refusal to tune, but it still had low compression

@@tedneitzel ya if you listen, is actually a different sound then just a tight chain, I've never noticed before until I watched this video that they sound different

If it’s not an air leak, I think that carb is bad. Put a kit in the one that came off and try it again.
It should tune, low jet sounds real boggy when you throttle it.

Ya I did rebuild his carb as I said was the plan, the saw is still low on compression, had the wrong pitch bar and chain, which really impacted its ability to tune, and it does still have blowback and is performing like a saw with low compression should perform, it works but aint great.
