    Mark I understand the principal, but since you are plugging hose off at the end of the hose on the reel, isn’t the suction still coming to that point, thus defeating the purpose of the splitter? If that makes sense?

      It doesn't seem to effect the suction negatively (since it is not an open hose) the splitter just makes it convenient to be able to carry more hose on the reel and use it all without have to disconnect it from the reel (which is more difficult on the Butler because of its location inside the reel hub)

      To maybe clarify a bit more. The remaining hose on the reel is like a larger waste tank in effect. It's just not into play anymore being plugged off vs keeping all the hose live on the reel. It does create a smaller length of open suction hose overall.

    After seeing your original set up I had Butler install my bypass brand new when they were building it. It truly is awesome thanks Mark!

    Awesome video. I ended up disconnecting my vacuum hose reel and just use the splitter. When it was hooked to the live reel but I used the splitter it would collect water in the hose on the reel. Do you use anything special to keep the 2.5 hose from splitting on the first rotation on the reel? Thanks

    • @MarkSaiger
      @MarkSaiger  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Too hook up my 2.5 inch hose to the inside of the reel, I used a 2.5 vinyl cuff, which seem difficult to find. I just happened to have a few but I think I'm down to one of my last ones. I had in some of my earlier first Y splitters I built the water collection you are describing. I've been trying to think of the last time we experienced that and cannot recall. It's been quite a while... Even will all hose stretched out from the reel (which it seemed to happen more often then). We tend to run our vans on highest speed while cleaning carpets, then on idle setting for Upholstery. We rarely use middle speed... But wonder if us running high speed helps to prevent this. Don't know. But I do know what you are describing. Thanks for sharing here, and I hope I addressed your question correctly.

    Hey Mark, I was thinking real seriously about getting a butler system over an Everest 870. What are your thoughts?

      I do love my Butlers. They perform very well. Really good heat and performance and easy to drive. They are also very quite and are well built. Super reliable. The 870 is a beast with great performance, but is really designed for dual wanding or super long hose runs. I have run my Butlers up to 475 feet out. You do start to loose some performance, but there is still good power to clean. I also like the Butlers in our cold climates. We run with the doors closed so that even makes them more secure and safe. You can definitely reach out to me via a phone call. I would be happy to give even more information and help answer more specific questions. I guess I have made the comment more then once to people... I feel lucky to be in the position that I could purchase any truckmount I want, and I truly prefer to own Butlers. My best to you as you contemplate what would be best for you too 😊👍

    how many feet of 2.5 can you hold on that reel?

    Mark I got a question? By chance do you know much about early model GMC Butler System vacuum cylinders and pods? My van fell off a lift during some maintenance work and the insurance was trying to give me Pennies on the dollar so I bought van back and contacted butler for new cylinders and pods. After installing everything new nothing worked correctly. So I put all the old stuff back on which would work just not efficiently. Now even with the old cylinders and pods my system will not engage. I’ve checked vac lines and the pods and they are working correctly. I’ve adjusted rpm bolts on blowers unscrewing them counter clockwise and still not engaging. If I pull up on rpm chain or push on gas pedal the van and system will rev but not hold. Do you have any thoughts. I talked to Chip on this matter and we both are running out of ideas. Let me know if you have any input, thanks Mark.

      @@ParrishCleaningOfficial sorry this has taken so long to answer. I've been reading and pondering it a few times. The vaccum pods run off the vaccum that would have went to the cruise control on some year vans. What year is the van?
      I'm just wondering if when they were performing work on the van, did they previously disconnect something by accident and maybe not put it back together correctly or forgot to hook something up. And if you were tracing what you saw (which could have got garbled up in service) this could possibly be a problem.
      It has to be electrical or vaccum are my first guesses. If it was working correctly calling up power to the vaccum control modules, then I would check vaccum. Is it pulling vaccum at the end of the hoses that would hook up into the pods on the throttle cable?
      Another thing is maybe something got bent enough to effect the system to work.
      This is a tough one not being on site unfortunately 😕

      Hey Mark! So after all this being said it ended up being the pod chains were too long. Not sure if something broke loose or stretched but I had to cut the pod chains by two points/balls in order for the machine to engage. I’m praying nothing got bent or the cable didn’t fray inside the rubber line but for now I went through every piece of wiring, fuses, vac line hoses and fittings, etc. I think that did the trick. Seems to be working good. It’s a 2001 GMC with the Butler System. After reading up on newer van set ups I’d prefer to work on mine, a lot less fuses and relays lol. Thank you so much for getting back to me!

    • @MarkSaiger
      @MarkSaiger  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ParrishCleaningOfficial Wow. I would have never thought about the chains. That's pretty crazy. Having owned the old style and new style I do have to say the new owns are pretty nice
      And hardly any real problems. They also seem easier to be honest to diagnose. Thankfully, I have not had any major issues with my Butlers.... Now my one van I had some issues but that was more of an issue caused by the dealership....
