    I replaced my brake pads on my C Class for the first time today. Thank to the video, it gave me a lot of help! Thank's! I didn't hang the piston caliper by the hose, and used grease. Other than that, the video is very helpful!

      I was priced a 425.00 to change my rotors and pads I purchased, mechanic said it took longer for rear brakes on a 2007 Mercedes R350, the price seems way, I is that fair or blowing smoke

    Everywhere I search I'm finding different sockets used, for the T30 torx you use I'm finding people claiming it's a T27 torx, and for the 7mm allen I'm finding people claiming it's a T40, also for the 18mm socket I'm finding people claiming it may be a Torx. I'm also finding people claiming to remove the rotor there is a "service mode" you have to put the car in using the instrument gauge cluster that automaticaly pushes the emergency brake back. Guess I'll have to be sure to purchase ALL the various tools just to make sure I have everything.

    Don’t you need to unwind the parking break tensioner to pull the rotor off?

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, in this case it is not necessary to unscrew the parking brake tensioner

  • @yomeyo6622
    @yomeyo6622 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    You can risk damaging the brake hose when you leave the caliper hanging by the hose.
    And as another user said: "grease"
    The concept of the video is good though.

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In general, the replacement will be similar, the only thing may be slightly different is the design features of your car. More accurate information can be obtained from the technical documentation for the car or by contacting a car service.

    Didn't mention about removing some of the brake fluid in the reservoir under the hood. When you push the piston back into the caliper, it (the brake fluid) will overflow. Especially if you do all 4 corners! Oh, and take the lid off or you'll hear a big 'pop' and there will be brake fluid everywhere and eating through your paintwork!!!

    Kinda messed up you didnt loosen the brake shoe and people think that the brake disc is just proper stuck in there so when they force it off you mess up the brake shoes and theire springs and no diy mechanic will change brake shoes by themselves

    I did this today, step by step. When I drove home, there is a scraping sound coming from the rear brakes. I stopped and looked for unusual marks but only see where the new pads cleaned the new discs.
    Is it possible that I did not allign the disc before tightening the screw? The wheel bolts went in fine though.
    Is it possible that the disc is scraping against the back dust cover plate? So the scratches would be on the inside of the disc?
    Is it normal to have it scraping because it's new? I don't believe it should...
    What did I do wrong? When I tightened the screw all the holes lined up....

      @@autodocuk what I meant was... on some cars, the rear brake cylinder needs to be rotated with a tool in order to compress it into the caliper; does this vehicle use the same procedure?

    • @sparkykevboss
      @sparkykevboss 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ninjahirodude658 Looking at the tool he used it is just compressed, not turned.

    • @sevensupersport
      @sevensupersport 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The need to turn the piston on some calipers is to wind back the handbrake auto adjustment mechanism. The Merc has a drum brake operating in the bell of the disc. No windback necessary

    So now I've been at it 2 hrs trying to get the rotor from the grasp of those ferkin parking brake shoes. Top one's clear and the rotors at an angle and nearly there, but won't let go of the bottom one!! Any ideas anyone? Am I supposed to back of the shoes by adjusting them somehow? Grrrrrrr.......

    • @scruffygit771
      @scruffygit771 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Update...yes I'm supposed to back the parking brake shoes off by turning the star type adjuster with a flathead screwdriver. Once backed off and a couple of bangs and tugs later the rotor slipped off.
