I'm still comparing bootcamps here in Canada and I believe the most 3 that stand out are General Assembly, university of Toronto continuing studies bootcamp (run by edx but also receiving a certificate by UofT), third is lighthouse which has the best reputation but it's not as recognized as UofT. Wish me luck

If you want to be competent in today’s market then you have to have advance knowledge of Statistics and Mathematics Because without these prerequisites you want be able to do even as basic bas linear regression

Time line is simplisitic. The stats alone is one year of uni-level study. The probability is another and assumes you know multivariable calculus. Then, and only then, can you go on to stochastic processes and then time series analysis. O/w you will be at a serious loss in abstract understanding. The coding part is reletively simple.

Maybe it's not appropriate to judge whether the magnitude of laid off numbers toward data scientists is big or not. The absolute numbers vary greatly between different roles (such as SWE, DS, HR, ...), making it difficult to assess based solely on the laid-off groups.
That’s fair. There are far more SWEs than data science folks. The study is also dependent on self-reporting so could be biased due to that (like most self-reported studies) but that’s the numbers we have. If you have additional insights, would love to hear.
I have covered machine learning and deep learning concepts, i am also persuing my honors in aiml, and i have good enough understanding of statistics, not for being a data scientist should i persue data analyst skillset also (I plan to take the goole's data analyst certification)?
Realistically should expect to learn all of this if they are fully green and think you are going to learn this via YT/Khan Academy and automatically become a data scientist in a year not even 3 years. My recommendation is start as a project manager over data lake or similar projects and then slowly learn these skills otj and transfer internally to that role. Learning statistics alone is enuff to gray your entire head!
why limit yourself to location? data science/ml has plenty of remote jobs, even at entry level. better have plenty of projects to show for it though, no different than any other job.

I think at this point you are better off getting a master's degree since the job market is so competitive that an MS is a minimum requirement now.

How is the Julia language doing in Data Science? Did it get some interest but dropped off, or still too little known at this point? I find it fantastic for physics and math research, and it looks like a great tool for DS and ML in the near future.

I have a question: I am a biology graduate (studied in French). I am planning to shift to data science. I’ve seen in many comments and posts that to be a data scientist, you need to learn statistics because it’s the core of data science. I want to obtain a university degree to ensure I have a good understanding of this field and leave room for future career development. I am committed to this path; I know it will be long and hard, but I want to choose the right undergraduate path. Should I study computer science because I have no knowledge of programming and coding, or should I major in statistics and add data analytics as a minor? Alternatively, is a community college sufficient to avoid wasting time and start learning while working, or should I just take a certificate on Coursera or any institute to become a data analyst and then start my journey to reach the highest position level? I am so confused; please help
