Be glad Angus is willing to play this great song whenever he chooses sung by anybody he picks. Bon Scott would be proud the band would be playing this song well over 4 decades later. So stick that in your fuse box negative comments.
First heard this song in ‘78 at Day on the Green in Oakland. By the time Bon said “Livewire” the first time, I knew they were the new kings of R&R. They blew Van Halen, Pat Travers, Foreigner, & Aerosmith off the stage...with a 35 minute set. This song is Bon Scott. In my 44 years of concerts the only opening song that has ever come close was the Foo Fighters on the One by One tour playing “All my Life”. Close...but no cigar.

They got me hooked in the summer of '76 with T.N.T. I was eight that summer. They've been my favorite band ever since. I'd give my left nut to see them one last time.
I was there, in the nose bleeds, but kudos to Stevie! He's got that tight hook and solid hammer of a right hand. Malcolm (and Stevie) Young, Phil Rudd/Chirs Slade, and Cliff Williams are the greatest rhythm section in Rock N' Roll!🤘
I'm A Die Hard AC-DC Fan Since I Was 5 , I Love Bon Scott , I Have Seen AC-DC Several Times In Concert For The Last 35 Years It Is The Same Song List , Brian Johnson Would Only Sing Very Few Bon Scott Songs Because Of The Singing Difference Between The Two , It Is Awesome AXL ROSE Is Bringing The Bon Scott Songs Back To Life , So Many Of The Bon Scott Deep Track Songs Have Not Been Played Since Bon Scott Was Kicking Ass Rocking These Songs , I Think AXL ROSE Is Also Kicking Ass !!
I still like Slade. Phil is stone faced and gets the job done. Chris smiles and laughs and he's a fucking machine. Phil is better, but Slade is a beast in his own right like Stevie is.
Axl really knocked it out of the park covering BOTH Bon & Brian! Some BIG shoes to fill. For all of the craziness involving his track record, he stepped up and really did great. You can tell the admiration & respect he has for those guys. Also, I couldn’t imagine doing an entire AC/DC tour then go right into the GNR tour(which was one of the longest out there in modern history). Kudos, for somehow keeping his vocals throughout all of that.
I was a little apprehensive when Axl was called to sing for AC/DC, but he did a great job! I was proud of him! I saw them in Greensboro,NC. It was the first show featuring Axl. They seemed to be well rested and ready to go! I just wish they would have played "Touch to Much" for us.
What about Cliff he was rocking that bass and the fact that they turned it up a lot made me so happy Cliff is one of my favorite bassists super underrated. I’m not the real angus fyi
wow, listen back to this Axl/DC stuff and remember how well Axl did on this tour - especially with the old Bon-songs - and comparing how his voice sounds today with Guns is terrefying. Man, it´s been 6/7 years already, since the Rock or Bust tour. Time flies
Man, towards the end after the guitar breakdown, Angus starts moving pretty damn good for a guy that would've been what, 61 or 62 here? I can still see a touch of him from the '79 performance of this in "Let There Be Rock."
He did great job but could you imagine how he could have sang this song 2 decades + ago before he lost it. Been a ac/dc and gnr fan over 35 yrs and there is no doubt when these bands first came together in their youths pure magic happened and the stars aligned. I also have to say Johnson did an admiral job filling the shoes of Scott but there's nothing like the original, you can also tell that Scott was the lyrical genius. Lucky they had boxes of his stuff after he passed.

@Manuja DayanandaThe vocals in GN'R are not "harder" than AC/DC's early Brian material. There is also no question that Brian sings them better - he is the original singer of them! The only good thing about the dark period of AC/DC's career (2016-2018) was at least they played Touch Too Much. Now they have to do that with Brian - also Flick of the Switch material!

Just saw this. Born in '72, this is a band I've had all my life. In Bon's 7 year career with the band, they brought some of the most talented music ever, in the history of the earth. Brian has spent over 40 years filling that legacy and continuing to grow it. Without him and his amazing albums AC/DC would be gone and we could argue about who did better. Axel really pulled it off. Maybe we'll see him later, but it's nice to see the old stuff played like it used to. That being said I don't want him in the studio trying to rerecord anything on the Highway to Hell album. Good luck.
I graduated high school in 1983 so this is the AC/DC I was listening to, the Bon Scott years. But I also like Brian Johnson. Bad boy boogie, let their be rock, the jack. Man those were the days.
I just love acdc. They've had unbelievable bad luck. Three lead singers and loved by millions! No wonder they are the best in the world! Love them loads! 😄
Unbelievable bad luck ? Over 40 years in the business, never having to follow trends, their fan base always there waiting for the next release. Massive, sellout tours across the world in 4 different decades All things considered a lot of bands would love to have as much bad luck as ACDC has had.
One of my Fav's from this group . It was said below by John Lam how they really need Phil on the drums to capture the original groove , and I could not Agree more !!! Phil's been the best drummer by far for this group , some songs just require his touch ... Can you imagine Slade playing Gone Shootin live ?? It would be a mess ! Long Live the mighty ACDC !!!
Listened to this song (on my Walkman, lol) before every game in (American) football ...... Hell yeah after this song and Natl Anthem, I was ready to kick some arse
I have known of Live Wire for 30+ years and I like it more and more and more every time I hear it. If I were asked what my favorite AC⚡DC song were, it would be Live Wire. This is confirmed.
Given their discography, it’s reasonable to see why they need a falsetto vocalist like Rose to cover their 50 year career. Bon wouldn’t have been able to do Johnson’s songs, like Johnson always interpreted Bon’s vocals much differently. AC/DC has always been a hand blessed with distinctive vocalists, and cursed with tragedy. A true rock and roll story..... Don’t hate, people. Revel in their music
axl and brian use the same technique which isnt falsetto, its more of a head voice to get those super high notes, which brian hits easier being a baritone as opposed to axls deep bass voice. axl went super hard on his vocals to be able to go as high as brian and is already struggling from the damage imo.
It´s okay, what Stevie plays. I think, it´s not easy to hear everything exactly here in the net. Thank you Stevie, keep rockin. Sorry for my wrong critics.
His opening chords are all over the place with the meter. I realize there's not much for him to go by, only Cliff's eighth notes, maybe an earpiece with a clicker to keep time would help.
He probably prefers the AC/DC he grew up with. I was born in 88. So the AC/DC I grew up with is Brian, but I find older guys prefer Bon. My first album ever bought was back in black. We like what we loved first most.

Angus completely lives up when he played these old tunes, I really wonder why they didn't gave them more attention. I mean I know that they were very straight forward in concert but it would be very cool to have like a pool of old songs randomly played ( 1 of the pool per set or perhaps 2 ) so it's always a surprise what you're gonna get. Riff Raff and Live wire were spot on this tour with Axl ( regardless of the errors made by Chris here and there )
Axl's voice fits AC-DC like a glove... almost like listening to the band in their prime again (no disrespect to the legendary Brian Johnson of course).
I'll take any version of AC/DC over 99% of the crap put out today. And no disrespect to Stevie, but Malcolm was always the man quietly driving the machine.. Long live AC/DC...
All those with the knife in axel, he's giving this a good crack and nails the bon era, band were doing stuff they ain't played in years like this tune for starters. Pity Chris slade on drums has gone too
It was done originally (and best) by Malcolm, Phil Rudd, Mark Evans & Bon Scott (with Angus, of course). None of those guys (besides Angus) are playing it here, so, yeah, it sounds off. To his credit, I've heard Cliff play it great too, but he had Malcolm and Phil locking it down with him at the time. Credit for taking a swing at it, though! It is a great tune. Axl takes a lot of heat, he was stepping into 2 pairs of VERY big shoes, and he knew it, but he is doing a good job with this one. I don't know why they pulled it from the set for so long. It's a great opener!
Axl does a great job here to be fair. The same cannot be said of old man Slade on this track. He was completely lost at the end. Bit odd for a band of this status.
If that is Axl singing then yes it works. This is a better fit than Brian as he has the chops to carry this off ... but not tight without Phil - what ever he is he is the perfect drummer for AC/DC - and Malcolm is irreplaceable ...
trick to acdc whether its this or down payment blues is to open the song almost clean with amazing feel. Then you kick in the overdrive not distortion. Nuff said dont fc it up and most people do. I can tell Phil isnt on the drums havent looked yet but i know
What band do you think Axl's voice matches? Axl has 1 volume level, cranked to 10. Its perfect fit, its just he is old as hell now. If Axl had joined ACDC in his prime.... ACDC would have made album to rival the success of back in black.. Axl's voice was made for a band like ACDC. Quality of this video is shit, if ACDC ever releases a live concert with Axl, with great audio people will see how good Axl's voice actually is these cell phone videos all suck.
Sorry this guys voice is terrible, can't stand GnR's, mainly because of that. Apart from the Back In Black album, and the odd track (Thunderstruck), AC/DC have been really poor since Bon died, he was the man. Would rather see a good tribute band now...
First time since 1982 ??????? This song should never have been played live since 1979! Sorry ...this is the pinnacle Bon Scott set opener ~ SACRED~ AC/DC LIVE SONG! ( sorry for venting)
Thinking that myself, when i used to go and see the best ACDC tribute band called ABCD from Nuneton near Coventry in the UK they are a Bon Scott tribute act so only do songs up till and inc Highway to Hell. They open their set with Live wire and the whole crown signs at the chorus "LIVE WIRE"

Line up on September 1 2016 was Axl rose Angus young stevie young ciff Williams Chris Slade Axl rose my favorite
Axl/DC was actually pretty good.
since 79
Axl does a great job here to be fair.
♥️
AC DC numer 1 ok 👍👍
Well thanks axl for fucking up another Classic
trick to acdc whether its this or down payment blues is to open the song almost clean with amazing feel. Then you kick in the overdrive not distortion. Nuff said dont fc it up and most people do. I can tell Phil isnt on the drums havent looked yet but i know
Bon Scott is rolling over in his grave
What band do you think Axl's voice matches? Axl has 1 volume level, cranked to 10. Its perfect fit, its just he is old as hell now. If Axl had joined ACDC in his prime.... ACDC would have made album to rival the success of back in black.. Axl's voice was made for a band like ACDC. Quality of this video is shit, if ACDC ever releases a live concert with Axl, with great audio people will see how good Axl's voice actually is these cell phone videos all suck.
Only an Aussie should be fronting AC/DC.
I think it could be a lot worse
He was doing that when the Young's stole his song book.
69glamboy they played it in Glasgow in '82
get over it , Acdc lives on
Literally played in Paris 1980
Sorry but, Horrible ...
They played in '82, at Glasgow, but Brian messed up the lyrics....so he never sang that song
Is the crowd dead?
Thinking that myself, when i used to go and see the best ACDC tribute band called ABCD from Nuneton near Coventry in the UK they are a Bon Scott tribute act so only do songs up till and inc Highway to Hell. They open their set with Live wire and the whole crown signs at the chorus "LIVE WIRE"
