Well it looks like a TH-cam but has cleared this description…. But anyways yeah come along with me for the day(s) while we get er done with a breaking truck!
Sitting in a reststop, I can feel your stress. I'm a company driver, I can't imagine what it's like to be financially responsible for my trucks repair bills?
You have a talent for conveying the stress involved in just getting into and out of a shipper or receiver. These facilities have truck traffic in and out, all day long, you think they could invest in a sign, maybe two?
I’ve been waiting to see your rig in the flesh, and it finally happened! I saw you once parked on the 407 E/B above the 115 and the other 407 E/B between the 412 & 418. It was surreal!
Can we just take a second to admire how well that pete leans while loaded going in to the gears. 10/10 Man that is a stack of lumber. 13' 6" of lumber but nice load on the flatbed. Few things I like about the mechanical engines with the air system.. you don't have to wait since Automatic semi you have to wait since everything is controlled by air. Manual Trans you don't have to wait you can just go on a fly. If you know their is no leak your fine. With automatic just take a bit of time and you just love having the truck yell at you for many things..
Thats what finally put me out of business after 45 years as an OTR/OO. One truck doing my onwn driving just like you. A truck that kept breaking and costing anywhere from $500 to $2500. Good luck. I pray Gods blessings on you.
Since it fluctuates within a range, I would look at the thermostat first. General overheating would have the thermostat open all the time. Also overheating can alter the thermostat. A head gasket or cracked head would eventually expel the coolant.
What? An open thermostat is a constant cool situation, closed thermostats are cause for overheating. And these trucks run 2 thermostats. My thermostats were stuck open and even pulling mountains in the summer, the truck took ages to even kick on the engine fan at 215°.
Have you put the overflow tube from the reservoir into a water bottle with water? See if it’s bubbling out exhaust gases through the overflow tube to check head gasket
Matthias
Hello Matt I am so glad you made this video your first video I really liked the music in it is it your music thankyou for sharing it here from Ontario Canada ( I really in joyed it) have a great weekend 😊😊😊😊
Although you are from Canada ( A ) lol. We here in the U.S. support you and your channel. Hope you get your truck fixed so you are able to keep trucking.yes of course we have truckers in the U.S. but your adventures across Canada makes our day.
Matt did you test those may be possible bad thermostat yourself and compare with new ones, if i have a coolant issue a thermostat will have difficult time opening if that little air lock drain hole gets plugged from a possible small combustion cold leaks until warmed up or from hot spot. If it holds full coolant not boiling about 220 f that is good. i overhaul every size of engine in my farm, lots of discoveries and savings . You seemed so concerned my friend , that's just one example
The rapid check uses a reagent to test for exhaust gases in the cooling system. This test indicates leakage between the two systems, which would be bad.
thermostats in an engine work using bees wax. they are a sealed hydraulic cylinder with a bias spring to hold them closed. as the water temp increases, the beeswax melts and expands causing the thermostat to open.
Keeping your radiator fins clean will also help to keep your re-engineering cool. A lot of dirt and debris gets built up in the air to air and plugs up the air flow. A hose will usually get most of it out. Do it monthly.
Hi Matt, love that ya wave to other semi drivers.!.😂 How often do your STEER TIRES need to be repurchased.?. The things you notice are funny.!".OH YEAH" helps put me at ease. Ty.!.😊 You run a hard game, 😂. Love ya Matt ❤ can ya just try stabilizing the go pro, for times you're having to look back n frth .? I like it when you take the ĜoPro w you on foot too. Glad ya took us to the end of you day. Toot toot😂 grab some chow man 😂
Hey Dom, I can tell you all my. CAT ENGINES all run around 180 never reach 200 degree. I had one CAT ENGINES hit 220 -230. I thought It was Odd it got so hot, but the turbo exploded .
Hi Ya , I think us old fellas (72 ) who have been owner drivers me since 1978 and ex mechanic have done repairs and mods to there trucks need to pass on the knowledge to others . one mod im sure would help is shit trap tanks . these catch all the water from the vast amount of condensation every day dirt too ! under the front of the tank usually the lowest part . I got a 8x6" box 2" deep with a drain plug . drill a hole about 3/4" in the main tank that must drop in the centre of the shit trap to stop flow back . with any movement of the truck at all the tanks will be cleaned 24/7 . all you need to do once a year or so drain into a bucket all the crap . water can do damage to your pump n injectors so you get protection with no down time . your filters will have to clean the microns of dirt found in cloudy diesel . so your filters last longer too . I ran a Cummins 430 and i only changed my filter when I felt her tugging then Ide find a down hill , swap the filter and rubber new filter dry get her rolling 4th drop the clutch 3 seconds she running . over 30yrs of using the shit traps never had problems with pump or injectors ... Good luck with the junk ... Kevin Fullard
My KW900L the temp just sits at the 200-210*F from the day it left the factory, but yea, if a gauges all of a sudden aren't sitting at there normal spot, red flag.
Saw you at the vineland scales early last week when i was coming back from new york was good to see you. Hope they didnt bug ya much at vineland. Cheers
That area around airport road is really confusing especially with the express and collector lanes when your gps is telling you something different to what you are actually seeing. lol!!! I hate Toronto! Downtown has parts of the road that you can’t drive on now. Ask me how I know? A cop was following me and then came up beside me and said you aren’t from here. Of course he knew that from running my plates when he was behind me. He said there are certain parts of the streets you cannot drive on now only the tic is allowed. You have to really read the overhead signs . He was nice about it cause it was a $200.00 fine.
Your truck is very nice but you should give the hood a paint job! I always follow you from Italy! My favorite truck is the Peterbilt 359 from the 70s and 80s!What do you think of the 359? Have you ever driven one?✌️🇺🇸
The horton fan doesnt kick in until 103c in my c15 Cat, thats 217F , so youre not running way to hot, we operate in hot conditions so slightly different, you know your truck, our fan would cut out again around 97C , running triple road trains 130ton its up there all day and night..i rarely turn fan on manually unless pulling up through hills for a long time, even then... What diff ratio do you run or what revs are you doing in top gear at 100kph? What temp does your horton fan cut in at when on auto? Cheers
I seen ya on the super expensive road the other day lol recognized the truck from the eastbound side. Looked like you had a load of armour stone going westbound maybe heading for the 401
Have you changed thermostat 2:31 lately those new thermostat all run 190 to 205 is normal on newer style motor look at dip stick and radiotor for any signs on oil in water if head gaskets you will get alittle oil on dip stick 😅😅😅
Planning on keeping this one as my personal truck for as long as I can, just keep rebuilding it. As for other trucks I would consider, the Edison motors diesel electric hybrid is a very intriguing truck!
You're a personable guy. I like watching your vids, traveling, but man put your camera on the mirror n.take. it off of your forehead.!. Plz My buddy won't even watch ya cuz of that. I really like looking at the temp guage n what you're looking for. I hope you'll teach us about some of those other guages n what you're looking for in them.?.!. Thanx for speeding up Long Moffett unloads. Love you tenacity.!. Love your laugh. Stay well Matt . Peace : )
I never hear you talk about your hours of service, never see a log book? I know your tractor is too old for electronic logs, but I never see a log book?
Dude, I've been meaning to ask for a while - I keep thinking your channel name combined with the hair and your profile picture must be a nod to old-days Cliff Burton and/or James Hetfield. Am I on the right track at all with that?
Ah good lead but not quite the origins! My name is Call The Mall. Little 2007 me created it on a whim way back when I started this channel, thinking “you can’t call the mall, you can call the stores within the mall, but you can’t actually call the mall itself.” (Turns out you totally can)... Haha.
@@noone3734 Hopefully TRUMP will. I don’t see anybody else with the stones and the political detachment. If the United States leads in rejecting this globalist agenda of destruction, perhaps Canada will dump its worthless “leadership” as well.
That feeling in your stomach doesn't go away until you run it for a while always hoping the repair worked..
Watching, glad is staying normal so far!
You do a very good job at showing what it takes to be and Owner Operator, and the challenges and stress that can come with it.

The way you film is the best, the headcam backing was great.

Maintenance fund.
I'm glad to hear things worked out for the best on the truck.
Happy to hear it was the thermostats and not a head or head gasket.
hate when things break despite you being on top of things. but i love every video you put out even though im not even a trucker. much appreciated

14:35 all the traffic and the Moffet reminds me of Pac Man!!! Be cool-Be safe!
That was my local Fortinos growing up. So cool to see you deliver there!
Have you put the overflow tube from the reservoir into a water bottle with water? See if it’s bubbling out exhaust gases through the overflow tube to check head gasket
Yes and no bubbles which made me feel better!
CAT head gaskets will last longer, if you ALWAYS give your engine time to get to op temps, before putting it under load. Based on experience.

Awesome video Matt, thanks for sharing👍👍👍
Just use a microfiber cloth for your gauges. Maybe a lil water on it if it's hard to clean. "Giant no trucks sign, too bad" lmao.
I'm glad it wasn't as serious as a head gasket. Stay safe out there!
just subbed i loved watching your pov and listening to you and the truck. Nice truck buddy
You did a great job turning around at the place that had all of the lumber.
Keep on trucking brother
Good stuff & great driving.

Glad it was just the thermostats mate
Stay safe out there

You gotta love these deliveries in town with all its traffic considerations; not to mention poor informational signage at the shippers!
Now that is a Friggen load of sticks!!!!!
You handle that B TRAIN like you were born to. Nice young man you are Sir. I enjoy the ride alongs. Dave
That;s exactly me at a left turn signal go go go go.
"Showing you where to go" is much better than "Telling you where to go" 🙃

If the fluid is being blown out it is the thermostat if it boiling out it is a head gasket.

Amen on the new leadership worldwide .
If it was your head gasket you would leak coolant into the oil and your oil would become cloudy/milky.

Pretty sure I saw you rolling through Hwy 28 to 7 the other day past my work with large stone.
Yep very likely!

Wait until you have to replace the fuel injectors, I had to wait almost two and a half weeks to get them $1200.00 new ones

Yeppers!
4 days late but was gonna say the thermostat, had the same issue with mine, such a small thing can cause major temp problems lol
I shop at that fortinos 😄
Thats it, time to upgrade to a newer Cascadia. Lol
Saw you last week east bound and down loaded up and Truckin ! on the 407 at 404
Carbon tax hike? I guess that's so they can rebuild every bridge to support the weight of electric trucks.
What rear end ratio do you have in order to pull that type of weight
How’s the Brampton drivers? Lol
Valve seal leakage can leave oil slip in and cause extra combustion, possible cause for your poping sound.
Hey CTM there is a 1981 359 Peterbilt white for sale it gots 3408 V8 in it
is there a system to unloading ..like do they tell what skids come off first or is it just your choice .whats first second and so on
Easy fix! Good on ya!
Have you changed thermostat 2:31 lately those new thermostat all run 190 to 205 is normal on newer style motor look at dip stick and radiotor for any signs on oil in water if head gaskets you will get alittle oil on dip stick 😅😅😅
just remember matt it identifies as a stop
Could try running with the engine fan on manual if that happens again.
Do you ever truck down in the US and could you if you wanted to, God bless stay safe and keep up the good videos❤
I used to but for now my authority is Ontario only
👍👍
Super video (🇨🇿už mi bylo smutno) 👍👏🥰🇨🇿😉
So I just have a question, how long exactly are you gonna keep your Pete 379? When your it breaks down, what truck are you thinking of getting next?
Planning on keeping this one as my personal truck for as long as I can, just keep rebuilding it. As for other trucks I would consider, the Edison motors diesel electric hybrid is a very intriguing truck!
What guitar did you use to track that, galloping rhythm?
My newest acquisition, a Kramer Nightswan! Though most the sound is from hand technique and amp settings
AWESOME
Carbon tax? I had to google that🤔
Carbon, the basis for all life on earth, so taxing it will surely give them all the control they desire. This world is an insane asylum

Looks like the paint on the hood is peeling?!
What are your thoughts about what Edison Motors is building? Would you ever retrofit that peterbilt?
Very interested! Not sure if I would retro fit this truck particularly but definitely another truck once the conversion is available!
Get on all social media....plz thx
Carbon tax, what horseshit. How the fuck does your government expect to have all of their goods delivered after they kill trucking?
They aren't planning to kill only trucking, everything else too, including us
Just wait for your rebate cheque Junior is a total joke time to go
it sounds like the water pump
I never hear you talk about your hours of service, never see a log book? I know your tractor is too old for electronic logs, but I never see a log book?
Nope elog hooked up through my phone 🤙 I basically set it and forget it until the end of the day
