Loved the pushing of triumph past rooms in consideration for others. Consideration for others is a lost art in the us it seems
Thanks man! We're all in this together. Chivalry ain't dead 😂
haha yeah once I piped my GS I didn't like starting it at 530 am to go to work in consideration of my neighbors... with the zero they never hear me leaving haha
You & Jenn are AWESOME!!! thank you again for the phenomenal video, and for sharing your fantastic trip!
Broooo thank YOU! I'm glad you guys are having as much fun watching our trip as we did riding it :D
Wow, that was amazing, thank you. My Sister got married in Akaroa a few years back during a Akaroa French festival (not intentional but very cool). This was a very nice reminder.
Whoa nice! Thanks for watching :D I'm glad you liked it. Akaroa is an amazing place and I really want to go back and spend more time there.
Looking forward to the next installment. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers Paul, thanks for watching!
Awesome 😎 such great bike roads...
I take old underwear and tee shirts on my bike trips, and bin them lightening the load...
Hahhaa tht's actually a great idea 😂
@@NewZeroland and reduces the washing
I haven't watched yet, but I can't tell you how much I have been hanging out for this video.
I love your vids,
I love motorcycles,
I love Te Waipounamu.
I almost don't want to start watching. Like when your favourite author releases a new novel. Or the third LOTR film comes out. I want to throw a party, but I also want no distractions.
Now to go watch...
Hahaha that means so much! I hope it lived up to the hype. Just know.. there will be many many videos in this road trip series :D
@@NewZeroland oh oh oh.
It was better than I expected.
Thank you so much.
@@gasdive cheers! So glad you liked it 😁
I was looking forward to this and wasn't disappointed.
Haha cheers! Glad ya liked it. Part 2 coming soon.
honestly one of your best vids to date
Wow thanks! That means a lot. Here's hoping I can keep it up with the next dozen or so episodes in this series.
Cool vid. Loved the humour and Jen joking about cooking humans. Made me laugh.
Haha thanks! Glad ya liked it 😁
Holy crap man! Welcome back. That looks like you guys had an amazing trip. Incredible views for the win. I hope the scrape on the bike didn’t end up with anyone hurt. All in all it seems like a decent way to say goodbye to 2020.
Thanks bro! It really was an amazing trip, and I wish we had taken two electric bikes. Can't wait to show you more!
Much fun was had watching and agree with gasdive :) I reckon just fly the drone and ask for forgiveness instead of permission. It's not like you're going to be up long anyway! The summit road is also amazing at Akaroa, and of course you can already tell that the series 'NewZeroland: An Unexpected Journey' is going to feature the dramatic white Trump more than it should! Thanks for tiding me over until i head there next month on my Eva107!
For sure! People love drama 😂 None of this was scripted or planned. All anti-ICE propaganda will be justified haha.
BRUH I've been missing your videos. Always stoked when one pops up. Excited for the next!
Thanks man! That means a lot 😁 Happy New Year!
@@NewZeroland Happy New Year!
"Not much to see here...", as Sam pans across a gorgeous cloudy beachfront. Sheesh! Lovely video, man! Thanks!!!
Hahaha thanks bro! Glad ya liked it. More gorgeous scenery to come 😂😁
Yeah it's pretty epic for people that don't live next to the ocean haha
Love love love! So happy you all get to explore and embrace life on two wheels together
Cheers! It really was an amazing trip and I wish it didn't have to end. Jenn definitely makes these videos more interesting!
Wow that earthquake looked bad... But that new road looked so good!!! So beautiful brother!!! Can't wait for the next vid!
Right?? 😮😁 So goood! The south island is motorcycling paradise.
@@NewZeroland That scenery is unbelievable I would have kept looking and rode into the water lol!
@@ronaldb479 haha man, you don't know how true that almost was! It's so hard to keep your eyes on the road down there.
@@NewZeroland LOL!!!
hurrah, really enjoy your videos and roadtrip ones especially. I sincerely hope your being so on-top with replies to all the comments will result in an increased (and so well deserved) reach on YT.
Thanks! Haha I try, man. Part of the fun of youtube is definitely the community.
Fantastic video you 2......And please keep those vids coming......Can't wait for the rest of the trip.....I live in frozen Illinois and right now all I can do is dream of riding my bike.
Oh man haha, sorry to hear that! I'll try to make this a weekly thing, but I'm back at work this week so we'll see how realistic that is. So much happened on this trip that this series could last for months 😂
Gosh i been waiting for this! Awesome bro👌.
Woo!! Thanks man 😁 Hopefully this keeps you entertained until you can ride again.
@@NewZeroland definitely bro!. How good is that scenery huh!! 👌. coming along great thanks just had 2nd set of surgery and back home again. R1 bits and pieces are on the way, i will be in need of a test pilot soon 😉. Awesome content bro keep on killing the game
I'm glad you are getting out and about and posting it on the youtubes. We all got lockdown over here and it's nice to dream 😀
Aw maaaan.. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully these videos keep you sane while the world is going crazy 😁
It's been said before but...Awesome video, team! I just bought a poor man's Zero (electric scooter) for my town commuting etc. and I'm having a ball zipping around with no fuel charges (thanks to solar panels). Looking forward to the rest of the trip, with some trepidation re the Triumph.
Thanks! Dude, solar powered e-machines are the best. Good going!
Epic adventure, for sure.
Probably the epicest you've ever had.
Installing pannier mounts really helps journeying.
Chilling that will-it-fall-off fear.
Yeah, our next bikes will absolutely have those, and both will be electric 😎
As always an excellent watch, and we're all having our holiday with you in the UK while things have ground to a halt 👍
Haha thanks! It really sucks what you guys are going through. I feel so lucky to be here, so I'm glad I can share some of the fun 😁
Absolutely loved the video and scenery Sam. I've never done that trip by car or bike. I've done Southland years ago but the scenery was amazing. Make me miss NZ even more. Thanks for all the effort you put in. Really appreciate it. Infections here in London are horrendous along 3 and 4 degree days. Nice watching this on my TV in my snug lounge. Take care and stay safe!
Awesome! I'm so glad you liked it. This was only the first 2 days, so get ready for way more videos. The next part will be Arthurs Pass. The scenery down there blew my mind so I can't wait to share it!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....it was too short!! Awesome vid, waitiing for the next one :)
Hahaha I had to split it up because there's sooo much video. That was only the first 2 days 😂
Excellent work! From a fellow Wellingtonian who rides the upper south quite frequently I salute you :)
Cheers! Glad you liked it :) That was such a fun trip.
Wow!
What a breath of fresh air.Your so lucky.
Things couldn't be worse here in UK.
Cold, snow, covid running riot,in lockdown and the Ego in for replacement throttle (good timing actually, would be able to ride it).
Can't wait for next episode👍👍👍
Oh man, that sucks! Hopefully things get sorted out soon and the world can go back to normal. And if not, I'll keep uploading videos to help you guys escape 😁
6:09 Nice detail. Thank you.
Cheers, thanks for watching!
Sometimes it's not about the journey, but it is about the destination... charger. Bwuahahha
Best joke ever 😂 I'm so stealing that
Love the logic in picking trips, that's exactly how I scope them out too!
Thanks! Yeah man. Motorcycle trips are all about the roads. Ok car trips too 😂 Winding roads are life.
You two are awesome, I’m glad you liked riding in NZ
Thanks! Next up, North Island!
lovely, can't wait for the rest !
Cheers man!
Wow, reminds me o some of the trips my wife and I used to do in BC/AB/Montana, stunning. Can't wait to see NZ when we are allowed.
Nice! New Zealand definitely has a Canada vibe. The mountains and lakes down south are really similar to Banff. Here's hoping the world goes back to normal this year! Until then, I'll keep uploading these videos :D
Such a cool trip. And that last camp out. Awsome! Even when your getting cooked.
Haha thanks Jeff! It was an amazing ride and I wish we didn't have to stop.
Loving this. Keep it coming 👍
Cheers buddy!
Epic road trip! I've been looking forward to vicariously enjoying this road trip since you announced it.
Man, those earthquakes certainly cause some grief, but that coast road looks absolutely worth it.
Love the consideration Jen showed the guests at the accommodation by pushing the bike out.
"Quiet pipes save dreams" 😂
And that final stop on this section… Just wow!
You're a lucky couple to be able to enjoy your biking together, even if it sounds like the Triumph is causing grief.
Triumph HQ is only 10 minutes' ride from my home, if you want me to head over there and give them some grief! 😁
Looking forward to part 2!
Hahaha thanks, John! Quiet pipes save dreams 😂 HA! Definitely go bug Triumph about their charging issues. How ironic is it that the ICE bike had battery problems? 😵
Watching this reminds me that surely need to go a big road trip on my bike at some point, been riding for almost 3 years now and still havent! NZ has so really nice places as well.
Dude yes! Go go go! As long as you live in a safe place that isn't locked down and it isn't snowing, hit the road and have an adventure 😁👍
It suddenly ended and I thought I was only 5mins in. Can't wait for Part 2! Can't wait for spring so I can go touring... and also.. end of corona times.
Haha thanks! Yeah I really hope the vaccines come soon and the world goes back to normal. Until then, I'll keep uploading vids to help you guys escape 😁
At 10:03 I just noticed the sweet graphics on Jenn’s helmet. I can’t believe I hadn’t spotted it until just now. 😁
Yeaaaah anime helmet!! She loves it. Gotta have something bright 😁
U guys are assume, thanks for the amazing scenery. Jen is a Jam. NZ brings back beautiful memories from my visit there, though was not lucky to travel on a bike. I hope u visit the 'Britten Stable', the place where Motor cycle legend the 'Mighty Britten' was crafted.
I felt and still feel blest having the opportunity to meet with the man and its incredible Machin
Whoaaa you met John Britten?? 😳😮 That blows my mind! We didn't get to go to his house, but we did see his Bitten #1 in Invercargil at Motorcycle Mecca. Such amazing bikes!
@@NewZeroland Yes i was blessed to meet him by coincidence in November 1994 (We lost him few months later in Sep 1995), i was in the two room workshop in Christchurch after i told them i made it all the way from Israel and they were very kind to let me in. I bought two T shirts which one of them I cherish as a treasure. Sometimes it worth while being old
Awesome episode! I'm glad I have something to look forward to during this very wet summer! I did manage to get on my Zero and scoot around Sydney today, and if the weather holds I may break out the Hyosung tomorrow.
New Year's resolution: more riding and getting outdoors.
Cheers man! That's a great plan. Hopefully the rain doesn't last long over there. I'm still waiting for summer to hit Wellington 😂
Yet again a great video mate. Next time you are down let me know and you'll always have a place to stay in Christchurch....... and charge.
I'll get you up the chairlift for free too (which is on my doorstep), dont want to miss that
Sorry, just saw this comment. Thanks for the offer! I definitely want to spent more time exploring Chch and the surrounding area.
I like Jenn, her smile and the way she thinks. She seems like a fun gal. 😁
Me too! That girl is great, and I'm so glad she's in this series of videos a lot.
Awesome video, so jealous you are going towards summertime
Thanks man! I'm super excited about it.
I live in Pegasus not far from Amberley and have ridden those roads many times on firstly on a Vstrom 650 then a Tiger 1050 both awesome bikes. I just feel so lucky to have such awesome riding out my front door. The rest of the South Island will blow you away.
Dude awesome! We stayed in Pegasus on our way back up north. That's a cool area. I wish we had more time to explore Christchurch, but I guess that means we'll have to do another trip :D
Fantastic. FX is on its way to add to the NZ fleet.
Yessss! That's the perfect bike for this country 😁👍
I travelled around the world for 4 years & I can honestly say without doubt New Zealand is the best country in the world
Whoa! That's awesome to hear. I love it. What was your second favorite?
I would love to visit NZ once in my life... so beautiful ❤️
Man this is SO GOOD!
Thanks bro!! Hopefully the rest of the trip lives up to the hype 😂
Thoroughly enjoyed that on my 65" screen in the warmth when it's 2c outside. Looking forward to the next installment.. BTW, I'm sure turtle love is illegal in many countries!
Whoaaaa no thanks, winter. That's crazy cold. Glad ya liked it, man! I'll see how long it takes to get the next one out. Splitting the trip up into episodes seems like the only way.
65" ?? you truly are sitting pretty on all that "TH-cam money" I only have a 55".. someday I'll make it!

@@RoadcraftNottingham likewise us older channels didn't fare to well over the last few years all the changes blacklisted our channels
That was great!!!
Cheers man! It was such a fun trip.
Makes me wish I lived there, its so beautiful. My 2017 energica ego finally arrived at my house, sadly I live in Chicago and it's way too dang cold to ride. I've just been enjoying sitting on it in my garage and making engine sounds.
Oh man haha, I need to remind myself how lucky I am to have summer right now. Otherwise I'd be in the garage too going "zeeeooooww" 😂
I got to go up my driveway at 1-2mph using the forward assist function, very thrilling for my first time ever being on a motorcycle. I did get to impress the guy who delivered my bike with the fact that it has a reverse, I wish that you could make it beep while backing up though.
@@Magic_Toaster reverse is soooo useful. One of my favorite features. That and cruise control, surprisingly.
@@NewZeroland finally had a day above 40F here, so I tested it out around my quiet neighborhood backstreets. So easy to ride, and even the rain mode acceleration puts a huge smile on my face going up to 25mph. I see how this takes a bit of practice to get good at it, but not having a clutch takes out a huge portion of the difficulty.
@@Magic_Toaster NICE!! I'm glad you weren't forced to store your bike over winter. Have fun over there!
Cool stuff it is really neat there! My buddy has the same triumph well same color.. is that the 1050? couldn't see the stickers
Thanks man! Oh nah, this is a Street Triple 675. Amazing bikes when they're running right lol.
@@NewZeroland yeah haha he traded his 600rr on it they gave him cash his insurance went down and he got a bigger bike haha I rode it a few times really a sweet bike
Went to the Aviation Museum on our visit to NZ, a fabulous place and recommended to everyone.
Nice! Yeah man I loved it. Really well done sets and collections.
g'day guys, new to the chanell and well done. One thing to do the trip on a petrol bike, but awesome job on a electric bike and knowing where to charge up. yeah west coast would be pushing for charging of the bike,. Im suprised little river has the charge up station that's great. yeah party on to the destination, man Hot Tub over the harbour Ill drink to that, Cheers paul
Dude thanks for watching! It really surprised us how many stations there were, in the weirdest locations, and how many of them were free. One day I rode 300km totally for free. Crazy times man 😁
We're going for a riiiiide!
Dog bike is so excited!
I used to work as an engineer on the "Stinky Ferry ", part of highway 1, I lived in Christchurch a fantastic town. I say town as that's how it felt when I lived there. Wish I was back there, 👍🏻
Awesome! There's so much to see around Christchurch and I can't wait to go back.
ill be an ingredient in that human stew any time as long as its that cauldron. Looks so relaxing
Haha man it was an amazingly relaxing place to stay.
Oh also, for next time, when you get to the end of that road in Kaikoura, where there's not much to see; if you walk just around the beach there you can normally spot seals hanging around. Also I looked on your Merch site but couldn't find the NZL wizard hats?!
Hahahaha Gandalf put the beanie over his hat. It's the height of fashion in Middle Earth. Well poop! No seals on this trip but a lot more animals are coming up soon 😁
Sweet, makes me want to visit NZ.
Didn’t see the diesel support charging vehicle?! 😜
LOL no support crew. Who am I, a celebrity?
Looks like you guys had a blast. I'm surprised with as many fast chargers as you have out there, that there seemed to be a hole in the network. I wonder if there wasnt something out there that got decommissioned or was there but just wasnt on the plug share map. I'm also kinda surprised seeing a tiny little Grom in a road trip with bigger bikes
Right?? That Grom holds it's own on most of these roads. And I really hope there are more stations down there next time we visit, but the insane amount of free ones made up for it.
It's electric boogie woogie woogie
Doodoodoo, doodoodoo doo doo
Congratulations on your lovely trip.Which part of the year you guys visited South island. I am planning myself a motorcycle trip to South Island.
Thanks! This was over Christmas last year, but any time between Jan-March is good. Have fun!
My folks used to own the Bach across the road from the French farm winery....there used to be a couple of other baches where it now stands......spent a lot of my holidays as a kid there .can you give me the info on where you stayed at french farm......it looks like you were up behind where our Bach was somewhere below the pulpit as it was known back then....cheers
That's awesome!
Awesome!!! I'd really love to do that in my bike...
I can get like ~30mins charge to 85% but I only get like ~55km of range...
That's crazy fast charging! In NZ that range would be fine because there are stations all over the place 😁
@@NewZeroland yeah but is because I build my own Chinese electric sport bike with Titanate batteries and a little bit big AC charger... (Like 2kg in my backpack)
May I ask, when you where going with your zero, how much your backpack weight with all the charging cables and now how much the Tesla charger weights?
@@SniperSnake50BMG the cables were really heavy.. way too much hassle. I really love DC stations for that reason! All the cables are built in.
May I ask how much power draw is the Tesla UMC?
Cooooolll flight museum
That was only half of it!
It did look super fun. How did you like the smell of all the old canvas and dope on the WWI aircraft?
The air museum in Dayton Ohio smells amazing in the WWI and before section.
@@stevenb7319 hahaha that definitely added to the experience 😁
You would notice an earth quake on a motor bike.... you would think your steering head nut had come loose...
Was in Christchurch for the big after shocks driving a car thought there was a steering problem or two flat tyres slowed up and was looking at a road light pole which was whipping about... penny fell then.
Whoaaaa that's insane! 😳😵
That was an enjoyable watch. Qu. what did you use to make the map animation (yellow line from place to place).?
Thanks! I animated the maps from scratch in Maya. Way too much work 😂
now, this is the stuff I have been waiting to see!
NICE!!
That little hobbit shack at the end looks soo romantic
Super romantic!! Such a peaceful and relaxing spot.
Did you figure out why your bike is down over a second in the 1/4 mile?
I think it came down to low battery % not giving me full power, but I haven't had a chance to test it again.
@@NewZeroland Cool, I’d love an update when you test it again. Maybe you could get a Draggy for testing. Also, the French Farm area was spectacular. Great job on the editing, music and cinematography. The time you put into these videos shows and my wife and I love them. Thanks!
@@Tothefloor thanks for the compliments! Good idea about the draggy. That might be a good investment.
Jealous. Miss riding way up nort' here in northern Indiana in January. Overcast and 20s (F).

Hahaha truuue! I'm jealous of your setup, man. Hopefully it doesn't get too snowy where you are. At least you don't have to warm up EVs :D
Thanks for the filter on that tritium charger :)

@@NewZeroland my ears didn't explode so I figured maybe...
@@GregHassler OHHHH! I was thinking about snapchat style visual filters 😂 Maybe the south island stations are just quieter.
That was awesome !! Nice to see a free charge station, too. :) How was the stew ? :P :P
That was the first of a LOT of free stations. I had no idea there were so many 😁
13:45 i was really getting jealous again !!! Haha never mind... I think it must have been an awesome trip. 18 Days on the roads. Yea man 🙃
Freeeeee charging is the best!!
yo mate, may I know what a driver license is for riding an e-bike like yours in NZ? is a full license must be held? cheers.
Yep, full license. There are lower-powered electric motorcycles like Super Socos that don't require a full, but these are basically liter bikes.
Little river, big station
Let my stations be FREE
Were you able to top up on the ferry?
Nah, I wish! That'd be a cool option.
@@NewZeroland maybe and 110v...?
@@SniperSnake50BMG Yeah surely they'd have an outlet somewhere. Maybe even a 32A caravan plug.
Did you charge in Murchison on January 1st, at around 2pm?
That was me! Did you have the Hyundai?
@@NewZeroland Yes. I have been talking with my motorcyclists friends about your bike, I was really taken by it.
I'm looking forward to seeing the video of the rest of your journey and would like to hear your thoughts on long term ownership of an electric motorcycle.
@@iallso1 awesome! I should have the next video up next week. It was an amazing trip and the bike did not disappoint. We definitely ran into range anxiety on the west coast, but the rest of the south island was a dream. For comfort though, the IONIQ is a better choice haha.
@@NewZeroland looking forward to the next one already.
The Ioniq may be more comfortable but I wouldn't swap it for my bike for the daily commute, I would however swap my DL for an electric motorcycle.
If your Triumph had not died the road from Queenstown to Glenorchy is worth doing too. I watched a video by international sports car test driver SHMEE 150 who labeled the Crown Range Road one of the finest driving roads in the world.
Oh definitely!! I'm bummed that we didn't get to go. We probably should have, because the Triumph lasted pretty long after this.
Very nice countryside. And the weather!
We have got -4C and -9C tomorrow. No riding unless you live south if the Alps.
But let me make a request: For your non native English speakers you sometimes ( often) speak too fast and with accent that makes you very difficult to understand.
It would be great if you could slow down your speaking speech and pronounce a little clearer.
And Happy New Year!!
Thanks man! Wow that's cold haha. Ok I'll speak slower in the next one 😁👍

My observation as an ex motorcylist, modern riders assumne drivers will see them and give way, NO going to happen, also, road awareness, they don't look for potential trouble such as driveways, sideroads, sudden turning vehicles, on coming overtaking vehicles, there seems to be a total lack of road awareness, just open the throttle.
