I just want to say, i used to make your recipes as a teenager and loved them and your humorous and fun take on cooking. Im now a married mom of 3, and i just came across your videos again after 7 years and your recipes are still wonderful and you have the same great attitude. I love that even the structure of your videos havent changed. It warmed my heart to hear even the tune at the beginning hasnt changed. Keep up the great work chef john. You and your recipes are a delight to have.
9:54 I can't believe you moved the center magical cranberry!!! I had the beginnings of a very magical story of how that cranberry had struggled to be the star of your star bread 😂
I feel like this would also be excellent stuffed with pesto, prosciutto, and gruyere cheese and garnished with some freshhhhly grated Parmigiano Reggiano for a savory take 😋
Great instructions! I hope this encourages people to try making this recipe. Yeast breads are very forgiving (except for don't have the liquids too hot), so the novice can feel very accomplished with the finished product. Looks impressive and delicious!
I want to make this. I want to make so many variations of this! I want to do it without nuts. I want to do it with chocolate instead. I even want to do a savory version with olive tapenade instead of cinnamon and sugar. I am officially inspired friend!
I hear you ! I often make a different version of a CJ recipe, he always inspires me . This one’s gonna be savory and dusted with cayenne. Might use black garlic to spread…
This looks amazing! Usually I bake a sweet christmas bread called "vianočka" for the Christmas day breakfast but this year I need a star on the table 🤩🤩
You are the Guy Pardo of how far with the fruit and nut mixture you go…. Couldn’t help myself. Merry Christmas John and everyone in Food Wishes land. 😂😊🎉🎄🦌🎅🧑🎄
When mentioning the degree temperature for things, can you add a notation or other popup on screen that provides the conversion and information about the temperature? Since I *know* you're using Farenheit but some people from my neck of the woods may forget that and use celcius - and 100-110 degrees is boiling point in C, so that milk would be waaaay too hot for the use lol! I also suggest a version where you use chocolate spread in the middle if you're not into cinnamon and nuts/fruit - the chocolate spread version is SO tasty!
OK! you either waxed and removed hair from your hands mid video, or those are not your hands. At 2:05 the hand and finger hair does not match the hand and finger hair at 2:33 and 2:44! You are caught my friend! Who has been doing your cooking?
I love your videos and presenting style John, but I have to say that it's very disappointing that you were too afraid to call it a Christmas Star, replacing it with "Holiday Star". You're better than that.

Chef John is literally the best human being.
Heaven is just a pastry away!
Bet this would be really good with apple pieces and apple sauce!
I like the apple theme. How would you cut the apple pieces? Maybe small dice

I think I can do this .... I think I can do this.... Thanks Chef John !
I made one of the savory versions a few years back. It is true what Chef John said. It looks fine/impressive after it is baked!
I was thinking that my family would probably prefer a savory version, May I ask what you used in yours?
I have trouble to post. Try go to King Arthur baking site and search for savory star bread.
The one I baked is more of Italian style. Happy Holidays!
You are the star, of this holiday bread!

Ooooooo olive tapenade👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻that’s a great idea too 🎄🎄🎄🎄👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Chocolate or Nutella would be the bomb!
@ nutella really would be amazing, but I would eat the whole thing and no one else would get any. …hmm, I see no downsides 🤣
Works for me!
Maestro le recomiendo que lo rellene con azucar, canela, cacao, ralladura de naranja y chispas de chocolate! 🤤😍😁 saludos desde Chihuahua!✌️
I bet this would be delicious with little pieces of apple in place of or with the raisins, etc.
That line about tan lines on the nude beach had me in stitches.
Great ones make it look so easy.
Looks delicious! Merry Christmas All!
Merci beaucoup, Chef John.
Oh my gosh, that is SO pretty. What a beautiful gift!
It would look pretty with the shiny sugary granules sprinkled on .... in colors!!
Or white pearl sugar to resemble hailstones, lol Fika time
This looks amazing! Usually I bake a sweet christmas bread called "vianočka" for the Christmas day breakfast but this year I need a star on the table 🤩🤩
I saw this on great british bake off
Absolutely beautiful and fun to make!
You are the Guy Pardo of how far with the fruit and nut mixture you go….
Couldn’t help myself.
Merry Christmas John and everyone in Food Wishes land. 😂😊🎉🎄🦌🎅🧑🎄
I made a bread very much like this for gifts over 50 years ago. I’d forgotten about it. Thank you for jogging my memory.
I am thinking a smoked turkey, swiss cheese/cream cheese herb mix and cranberry chutney bread!
That sounds amazing
Holiday Star Bread from the internet's All-Star Chef.
❤ AWESOMENESS! ❤
I made a version of this also exactly once, using Nutella as the filling. So delicious and beautiful!
Looks absolutely delicious!
Delicious!! ❤
It's beautiful!🌟
Sooo coooooool!!!!
That's beautiful.
Thank you Chef John, I have seen this recipe a few times but wasn't sure I wanted to make it until this video 🌟
Looks yummy 😋
Had this just Saturday at a Friendsmas!
I was just looking this up to make a few days ago. Good timing!
Will give it a try!
I think this would be amazing with a chocolate filling…!!
👍😍😍😍👍 Looks so beautiful & delicious! Thank you!
Thank you
from here on out, im shapping my dough into trapezoids
I'd bet this would be good decorated with Swedish pearl sugar.
Did Chef John watch this years Great British Bake Off Christmas episode :)

You are the Pat Benatar of your Star.
That looks delicious! Now, how am I going to screw this one up. I always find a way.
Always takes 2 tries at least- will try 😂👩🏽🍳🥂🎀
Something similar to this was on this years holiday great british baking show
Click and like before watching. I have made it once with Nutella. Let me see your version.
Could you possibly spread a thin layer of cream cheese on the second layer.
Why are there voices in my ears whispering "bacon as a filling" and "mince meat (as in mince pies) as a filling"?
Probably good, not to fill to edge. It allowed for neater bread tips.
I got the first upvote and the 1st comment! 🏆
Chef John RULES!!!
Congrats! Yes, he does! 😊 happy holidays to you

😮 good catch!
eww.
