The contract states that the keys only need to be picked up. Alan could have kept them, or he could have set them back down on the floor and walked away. X'D

But if Rowan keeps any of the keys to the store on that keychain & Alan *doesn't* give them back, the Rowan could hit him with theft of company property. If I thought of that, you can be certain Rowan would also think of that.

@@JackLaPoire Well, the clause says "Rowans keys" so by definition keeping them would be stealing, and he can't throw them away because he would have to pick them up again, what he can do is put them somewhere really high up.
@@adamtarnowski343 You could always pick them up and gently PLACE them back on the ground. As long as they have not been dropped, the employee is neither negligent of contract nor committing theft.

Malicious compliance: the contract states picking up the keys, but it doesn't specify handing the keys back. Also, to prevent being accused of theft, it specifies being dropped on the floor, so Alan can just throw them on the floor again. Now that they aren't dropped, but thrown onto the floor, he doesn't have to pick them up until they are dropped again.
Rowan is such a great boss, he easily could have used the "Whiplash" method of enforcement as outlined in the contract. Instead he patiently showed Alan where he was wrong. Well done Rowan, the best manager in the world, well done.

Bored is so hilarious and accurate it's scary. Working in retail I've literally delt with every type of customer Ben has played and I've had a manager almost exactly like Rowan.

The contract specified that the emloyee agrees to always pickup Rohan’s keys on the floor, but it didn’t specify what to do after it. Were I Alan, I would totally pick up the key, then throw it to a dustbin.
