    hi, i dont understand the 1:08 part, why change in current( change in direction of left and right) will affect its action potentials? Like..why change in direction to left will increase in action potentials?
    please reply, i need to understand

      Hello, the hair cells are embedded in a gelatinous structure, so they cannot move freely. However water waves will cause their bending. If the stereocilia bend towards that long strand (kinocilium), then potassium channels will open. And since the gelatinous fluid is rich in potassium, then potassium will rush to the inside of the membrane and depolarize it, causing an action potential. If the hair cells bend in the opposite direction, then hyperpolarization will occur, and no action potentials will be generated.

      Thanks for your feedback. I think I get the gist of what you are saying: "Why did I make this for fishers because it is so technical?" Perhaps the first part of the sentence was lost? Anyways, I believe every fisher should have a basic idea of the lateral line. Cheers!

    Also, the lateral line of fish is known as tǐcèxiàn 體側線 in Chinese.
