It works with offsets in any direction or plane. A lateral pipe can intersect several other pipes at the joint. It takes only a few minutes to set up the 3D model and see exactly how the connection looks like. From there the profile templates, at both ends of the lateral, are obtained in DXF / DWG format. The thickness of the lateral pipe is taken into account to comply with AWS welding requirements. This approach is frankly cheaper than any other method. There is no need for any fancy software nor sophisticated equipment to achieve always a perfect fit and welding.
