Thanks a lot for the review! Are the parrying hooks entirely stiff without any give? Currently looking for a sparring Zweihänder that I can use vs. rubber tip spears with wooden shafts and vs other synthetic weapons (which aren't compatible with my steel montante).
Hello. On the synthetic, the hooks are fairly solid. Rubber tips will not fit. They work really well to stop other blades but that does come as the trade-off. But the point is not sharp, it could create blunt force. This is why these are really not suited to the HEMA beginner.
@@lefthandedhemawithlordrami8220 Thanks for the info, good to know the hooks are rigid. I was looking for a montante trainer that everyone in the club can use, so I was a little concerned about the parrying hooks, too pliable would be useless and too stiff a potential danger. The ones on my steel montante are short and rounded so minimal risk there. Maybe I can still make use of the BlackFencer synthetic if I tape some foam around the parrying hooks...that will probably not be a durable solution.
