    Curse you that you got to be up so close to such wonderful swords that I'll probably never get a chance to....

    Someone should make a 3D print of these treasures, to more accurately reproduce them.

    Casually I saw yesterday several artistic representations of montantes with finger rings on the crossbar. They are on representations of the sons of Jacob on the Museum of La Seu d’Urgell. From mid cinc-cents catalan religious art

    Mi chiedo che utilità avessero delle armi talmente ingombranti, erano solo di rappresentanza immagino, indubbiamente hanno un grande fascino!

    • @FedericoMalagutti
      @FedericoMalagutti  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, in realtà avevano diversi utilizzi. Sia nel quadrato di picchieri, che come armi per attività speciali: Guardie private, guardie di passaggi obbligati, sui ponti delle galere ecc. Diciamo dove vi sono colli di bottiglia e un singolo uomo può tenerne a bada molti grazie alla gittata e al terrore dell'arma.
      Diversi manuali insegnano le forme ideali per adempiere ai secondi scopi citati, mentre il primo sta venendo ricercato, Niccolò (nel video) sta facendo anche questo.

      @@FedericoMalagutti parto sempre dal presupposto che una arma debba essere anzitutto funzionale, uno spadone di 4kg e oltre, diventa poco maneggevole anche per braccia molto robuste e rallentandone i movimenti rende il suo utilizzo poco efficace, è interessante dunque scoprire che effettivamente venivano utilizzati in varie occasioni, probabilmente erano più allenati di quanto ci si immagina!

    very, very cool. But you did make 2 mistakes:
    1:05 crossguard 448 cm
    5:48 weight 40.5 cm

      44,8 cm
      The weight I should check instead
