  • In this scenario, we're up six in the 7th end. But if the other team is still playing, you might need to be careful.

Glad to see you're posting regularly again, and excited to see more.
I have to admit, I immediately thought split the house. It was great to hear your thought process in that situation.

Fantastic video, I also was looking at the split. Thanks for exposing that weakness.

Like you pointed out at the end, it is important to know your teammates as much as the proper strategy. If your team can't make a strategically required shot, the best strategy in the world won't save you.

hitting the guard is probably the right call. but roll your shooter to the center, not peel. Threatening the steal is a great way to keep your opponent from thinking big end.
They either draw into the fourfoot behind your guard giving you something to freeze to + splitting the house... or they take out your count stone leaving you an open double off before your skip throws the draw behind the center guard with his last.
Scenario A: Hit and roll to center, double, drawbehind
Scenario B: Hit and roll to center, freeze behind center

Paused video before you speculated on any shot call - my immediate instinct is to peel the yellow guard.

What are some of the different balance stances for the thrower and how to find the most comfortable push off the block?

What are your thoughts on running your yellow in the house to jam on the red in the back? might be a little touchy as a shot, but it "runs them out of rocks" while possibly leaving you 1 or 2 counting. Maybe this would be more likely to be on the table if the score was a little tighter, but I think you have quite a bit of rock that would drive out the red, and a control weight hit probably leaves both yellows in the scoring zone.

At 7:04, the red team is kind of stupid not to roll the other side, as they have now lined up an easy triple. just hit 7/8 out or inside and all hope will be lost. I am all for peeling the guard but if you ever were to draw the other wing and team red rolls and lies three behind cover it is easy to just repeat the same shot and draw for 1st or 2nd shot beside the red rocks. In that case you force your opponent to make a very good shot with the entire game on the line. Great video as always!

A few things wrong with that statement. Red can't really roll to the other side because you can't avoid the jam on the back. Whether there's a guard in front makes all the difference. If there's no guard and a potential triple any average league night team will the double, if not get rid of 1, leaving a red a draw for 2 or 3 which is much better than a situation where you need to be almost perfect on draws on different paths and if you're not than giving up 4 may come into play. Since you're up 6 you will win a higher percentage of games of you play defensive and get rid of the corner guard.
