The Princess Royal, 71, performed the moving tribute as the coffin was carried into the palace, having travelled with the cortege from Balmoral to Edinburgh today. Anne was visibly emotional as she lined up alongside the Queen's children and their spouses - Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, Prince Andrew and the Earl and Countess of Wessex. Sophie was seen reaching out to console Anne, who was at her mother's bedside during her final hours at Balmoral on Thursday. Being the Queen's only daughter, the pair shared a special bond that was highlighted today as Anne made the six-hour journey from her mother's beloved Balmoral to Edinburgh in a vehicle behind the hearse.

Any mother daughter relationship is always special and close, but Anne and the queen were extremely close because of who they both was. Can I just add Edward and Sophie are also loyal and very very close to our Queen. Genuine sorrow. They should play a bigger role than what they have done.They really are nice, Genuine people.

She was close with prinse philip.. her mother the queen admired her strong powerfull karakter calling her prinses Raw. their bomd grew over timee. It was not like any mother daughter bond when the queen started a family but soon was a queen

Barely put a foot wrong in her life The Princess Royal, looks genuinely shook and bereaved. As for Andrew Prince of Nowhere, he didn't help with Her Majesty's Longevity, after a faultless life of by HM Queen, always doing the right things, her son poured more shame onto her than she could ever imagine in her final couple of years. Shocking guy.

I've watched this a number of times: both the Princess Royal and Countess of Wessex give deep curtseys and the Earl of Wessex and Duke of York bow their heads. I'm curious as to why Admiral Sir Tim Laurence seemed to do nothing? Maybe I missed it? Anyone??
