Gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers, New Zealand.

Compilation of my amateur video clips and some photos from visiting a large gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers, New Zealand.
Only way to get to the colony is by commercial operator. I went on a minibus tour with Gannet Safaris Overland. The tour went through bushland, coastal farmland and past golf courses where the rich and famous play golf. Until at the gannet colonies at the edge of a cliff with amazing views.
The birds were pretty noisy but did their own thing, nesting on nests of bird poop and seaweed (pretty smelly). Birds were constantly taking off and landing. I saw a few eggs and some of the others saw chicks.
This was in October, 2022. Springtime in New Zealand. The video doesn't fully capture but the cliff top scenic views were stunning. I painted a rock of a gannet inspired by my photos.
