How to setup Spark 2 with Control X for looper function

- I had some trouble getting the looper function to work with the Positive Grid control X and spark 2 and that there wasn't much help online. After updating profiles I found that it worked on my previous control x and this step is undocumented. If you want to see just the profile step then check from 7.20 otherwise the whole video shows end to end steps.
In the video I have a new control X since my previous one turned out to have a faulty button.
Hope this video helps - let me know if the profile step helped you because I didn't need to do that step with my new control X but it definitely helped on the previous one.

Maybe try pressing the button before you turn the pedal on, hold it down while you power up the spark control.

To have a CD with fully instructions on the spark.Two amp because half the guys that are doing this instructions don't know what they're doing
Thanks for the video. Is it easy to make loops with the pedal. Does the BT speed allow for a seamless
loop?
@@GwilymJames As a basic looper yes easy to use. I find the app sometimes goes back to the default BPM in between uses. There's no way to save loops either. I've not noticed any lag issues with Bluetooth - just my foot!
This might not apply to but if I owned the original Spark I don't think I would upgrade just for the looper itself - better buying a separate one in my opinion. But Spark 2 has other better features to factor in too and they could always add extra features by firmware/software updates (save loops etc)

I WAS thinking of taking advantage of the upgrade offer to get spark 2 (from spark 1) AND this pedal, but the price seems too high for a marginal gain, even with the Black Friday offers, so I went with a cheaper solution, by picking up the xsonic ulooper paired with an airstep lite pedal, which should give me most of the same features for a faction of the price, plus they seem to be compatible with a wider range of devices
thanks! do i need to keep the app running to use the looper, or can the phone/tablet go to sleep and the X looper control will still work?
@@JanPKolodziejczyk Hi - it will still work you don't have to worry about the phone going to sleep. It's handy to keep nearby so you change the looper timings etc
I can enter looper mode now, thanks. Problem is it applies effect one when I do it, I then can't change the effect without using the app. The pedal is the weak link in this, might return it.
@@TheJohn48231 You can use top right button a on the pedal to cycle through the effect presets. Agree usability could be better.
@@paulj6 Nice tip, thanks. Is it normal that I have to press the pair button on the amp each time I power on the pedal? I thought once it was paired it would just work when I switch it on.

I’ve been experiencing many missed actions when pressing the buttons, but I’m unsure whether it’s a connection issue or a mechanical problem. Did you run any specific tests to diagnose it?
@@stocmarco1 The button was completely not working in any mode - pressing it didn't change light on off etc so it was an obvious issue. A way to check the buttons is to use in default mode and switch between different tones a few times - see if it is a particular button - that would more likely to be mechanical. If all sometimes work/don't work then more likes connection I would think.
The thing is nobody tells about if you block your device (tablet/phone) the pedal disconnects.

If you are buying the spark 2 for the looper. DONT. It is trash. Amp sound is definitely better than Spark 1 but the looper is just buggy and way more complicated than it should be. WTF is going on with the annoyingly loud click track when you start a loop?
Why do I have to pick timing for a loop?
Why cant I stomp the pedal to start the loop, stomp it again to stop it like every other looper?
@@rickcalvert4820 Yes not worth upgrading just for the looper. But this was my first spark so it made sense for me. You have to set loop length to free and also turn off the click. Then it works like a typical looper pedal. One difference is it will start recording the loop when you start playing automatically in free mode, you don't have to stomp the pedal. Took me a while to figure this out too. I'm hoping they can update and improve usability, also option to save looper settings as profiles would be good.

really so stupid to not have a cord connection.. think about it.. your not going to be that far away from this little amp ever that you couldnt just use a cord.

@@canned74 Agreed. I'm ordering it, but I'm wary of everything being connected to bluetooth and an app. So many points of potential failure. We'll see.
