My favorite, my No.1 arcade game of my childhood! I had fed the arcades so many coins to master it, but I never made it - and never managed to see beyond the "green" levels (and 10th round). I liked this game too, but it wasn't a game I was good at in the 80s (I'm almost 60). Thanks for the comment, but I'm not really the one playing. This game when you reach the level with 8 enemy cars is too hard to play, the world record is only close to 200,000. That's why they released "New Rally X" of which you can find videos with a score close to a million. This is not me doing this in real time. I recorded this frame by frame and with save states on an emulator, a Tool-Assisted Speedrun (TAS). Not meant to show gameplay skill, just for entertainment purposes.
If I could have an arcade at home, it would be this game...specialized stores, shopping malls...wherever there was, I was there playing. It was great when the crowd gathered to see it but at the same time the nervousness hit and any hesitation was gone, not to mention the emotion of leaving the initials of your name engraved on the scoreboard
This was the arcade game that in my youth my dad would drag me away from for getting too excited. This game right here is the reason I got into video games. Many years of gaming & still loving it 👏👍

At the beginning of a round, you have about 3 seconds that you can pass through the red cars before they begin chasing you. This is a known trick, you can see it in other videos like th-cam.com/video/Th7jjptN0fU/w-d-xo.html. At 8:37 I did not have the time to pass through all the cars, I had to wait for the last one to get out of my way.
It sucks that a bug in the program made it so you could not continue to play the game and get a higher score or even loose a life so you could keep playing, they should have made it when you run out of gas completely you loose a life without having to wait for the other cars to crash in to you.
If I don't pick it up soon: I'll be doomed. "We're finished in this town, is that understood?" No one has ever said this to me about what I want to keep. Even regarding what interests me the most also.
