Never get tired of seeing amazing antiques and owners responses. That ring was very unusual.
That surprised me, when he opened it. I've never seen anything like it.
RIGHT?! My eyes got SO wide.
His estimate is low- there’s no way that’s a 1500 ring/bracelet- I worked in a jewelry store and we had an estate case. He’s way off.
@@silvergirl7810 I know nothing about jewelry whatsoever, but I felt he was lowballing for sure!
@@silvergirl7810 That was in 2002 though lol
@@handpickedstuff the good ol days 🙂
WOW! Whoever designed that was BRILLIANT
What a beautiful item of jewellery.
Beautiful piece of jewelry. I think it would be worth much more.
They do not make jewelry as such anymore! How fascinating and breathtaking!
Loved the special feature
That's an older episode. I can tell because I watch the reruns on Samsung TV, and the appraiser is MUCH older now!!! The Roashow started in England over 40 years ago and this episode looks to be at least 20 years old, hence the lower appraisal.
Thank you.
The flowers on the band though...
Stunning piece 🤩
That ring/bracelet was beautiful.
Oh my that ring was pretty, so unique love it!
I love these 30 plus year old videos.
Wow what a great ring bracelet no one today makes this I love this ❤
Beautiful 😍
I have never seen anything like this!!!
Whoa I would love that ring. Absolutely stunning!❤
1000 is low… its ok she isnt selling
it. what a lovely grandpa! loved her greatly! heart melt!
Beautiful designed ring.
Wow that beautiful
We could see the disappointment on her face at the value of the ring.
I would have thought it's value would be at least £5000.
I bet its a ruby just saying when i first seen it i thought it was adark amyathest.its beautiful .never seen anything like that before .very lucky woman to own such aunique pieace
Most contemporary jewelry doesn't have this character.
Pretty sure that dude low balled that lady with the ring/bracelet
Neva sought!
1-1.5? Is he nuts
That’s not a garnet.
Always one know it all!
Why the f are you putting your hands on the painting oh it’s worthless
Such a unique, really unique ring. She’s so lucky to own this little piece of art. Just gorgeous!
Low estimate for that first ring. Worth way more.
You have to understand that it’s only worth as much as someone is willing to pay. Also, appraisers generally err on the side of caution when valuations are done. Maybe you know more than an expert with decades of experience?
That appraisal is over two decades old when gold was just over $300 per troy ounce. Not only have metal values increased, but desirability for unique pieces have as well. What exquisite work and still durable enough to last this long without wear or damage. A true family treasure.
@rachmonte I'm assuming you're an expert like the chap here, and also have expert knowledge on the valuation of such a ring in the time this was broadcast?
Rhetorical question btw 🙄
Nah materially it might only be 150$ worth depending on how good the gold is. that garnet would be 80$ new. he priced the craftsmanship and age pretty high
These are older shows. Could be worth more now
I was expecting it to be a poison ring, then when he started unfolding it I thought it might be a flip ring, but no! It’s a bracelet! 😂 So cool 😎
Exactly!! Poison Ring 1st! Then, as he began to open it, I thought Flip Ring!! What a monumental surprise! One of the most stunning rings I've seen on RS!
The fabulous ring seems very undervalued. What year was this recorded?
c2004 I'd say
In the description it says 2002
A "watermark" at the beginning, top RHS, says 2002.
A two fer, ring and bracelet, brilliant.
If it turned into a necklace also then I would be impressed!😂
Experts and their egos😀. She got the date of this ring just right, yet he couldn't just confirm that, he had to go around the houses to eventually agree with her after pretending she said something else...😀...
I have seen some beautiful jewelry, but that ring! It's just exquisite. Absolutely gorgeous. At first, I thought the hidden secret was that the box opens so you can put something inside. But no, it opens so it converts into a bracelet. I have never seen anything like this before. Also, I think it is way undervalued. It's a unique piece that should be worth more than that.
Yes, of course it was low-balled price. It may even 18k Gold.
@@waynerain2372I doubt that. That would be too soft for that type of jewelry.
@@mjrussell414 24k is softer than 18k.
It's not unique in Brittain.
I love that ring!
Wow that Victorian Braclet Ring! Beauty & craftsmanship outstanding
Today to have that ring made would run 4-5k Add in 160 years and I think it’s grossly undervalued
I agree, and even if you spent 4-5k, there's no way it would last 160 years with how cheaply things are made today. Not to mention, this was filmed in 2002, over 20 years ago.
I agree, even at the time of filming this was grossly undervalued.
no
That ring is too beautiful
This ring is so beautiful!!!!
For the first time in my life I just got an ad for Western Australia suggesting it's a good place to invest money that I totally have. Wow you even get a classier kind of advertisement when you watch the Antiques Roadshow!
Really excellent little video. Thanks! ♒️
That’s beautiful and not something you see coming and going. 😍
OMG it turns into a bracelet. 🤯
I find their estimates very low. No way you could buy them here for those prices
How about 22 years ago when this was recorded?
That ring would sell for at least 5k-7k actually but depending on gold carat weight. The garnet is probably rhodolite which gives it that purple color. If it was a precious stone it would worth much much more. Would be stunning with an emerald 🩵💚💛 I’m an antique jeweler btw 🤓
Do you have a website? I would LOVE to see your collection as inspo. I’m an electroforming jewelry designer & take a lot of inspiration from antique pieces ❤️🔥 Thanks in advance!
Keep in mind the appraised value is 22 years old, so yes I would assume something as unique as that would be worth more now, as you stated.
I agree about the purple. The colour is definitely not your standard garnet. My favourite garnet is the demantoid garnet. They’re such a delicious green colour. I’m an art specialist, but worked st an auction house for a decade, so I worked on a huge variety of sales. I used to love jewellery viewings. So much to try on!
@@annephillips1870 ooooh I love the demantoids, they are hard to find now and can be very pricey! They’ve been mined out of Russia and the mine is closed. I heard there was a small vein found in Africa but I haven’t researched this claim. Also one of my faves 💚💚💚🤓✨
@@psalm1197 I only deal in antique jewelry sorry. I’m a Jeweler 🤓💎✨
You could see exactly what that that lady was thinking when he told her the photo of Paris was worth $3000 …. “I’ll snap it on me phone and I’m selling this faster than you can say God save the Queen!”
I don’t want the picture I just want the ring
Personally i don't like the look of it but boy can i appreciate the craftmanship that went into it? Whoever made it had a few yrs in the jewellery industry behind him, absolutely the work of an expert!!
The craftsman shipping into that little object is nothing short of magnificent.
🎶 five goooold rings. Anyone else?
That ring is so cool!😮❤
The ring that ends up a bracelet. I’ve watched that before 😂
I wud Have imagined that the Lovely ring/ bracelet from 1840 wud be valued to its history as well at least $6000 mínimum 🙆
I absolutely LOVE Antique jewellery, I can just never afford them !
Much much much more, looks like it would be in a museum.
Beautiful and unique ring❤
Lowballed the ring last like crazy! You couldn’t hope to have that made for the price he quoted
Looks like Notre Dame is directly in the middle of the painting.
I want that!
We have the greatest culture 💪🏻
gorgeous ring. BTW we love John Benjamin.
Don't sell that. It is very very beautiful and especial.🎉🎉🎉🎉
That’s my moms ring can also be a bracelet
May 2555
Wish they made such rings today.
In correct that is my mom’s birthday stone ring it’s a purple Emorold stone
May 25 55
That’s Italian gondola
I'm no expert... but that ring is worth wayyyyy more. I understand it's "just" a garnet and enamel", but I hope she gets a second appraisal... disappointed in that guys opinion. I agree, your distant relatives, us Americans may overvalue certain objects because we've become so aesthetic, but less than 2000$ for a unique, antique ring... come oN!
Not a stash box
First thing I thought 😂
@@SarinaSazi Same here lol
1500 pounds for something that old, something that well maintained, with a surprise trick? I thought there's a hidden compartment. This was something new.
For all the bullshit modern art is worth, this ring should be worth 10x what the man claimed
Is it paste and wow, hidden gems!
1,000 pounds for a early Victorian diamond, gold and garnet ring.. low price indeed
The ring/bracelet £2k? 😂😂😂😂
Dear, THAT PIECE IS PRICELESS
The ring is ugly/beautiful. That it opens out to make a bracelet is quite fab.
I love the old painting of Paris.
Wow,its simply remarkable😍I love it! Its so beautiful. so pretty💐
When you can clearly see the hinge it's not very well hidden. Fine craftsmanship to be sure but you can clearly see the hinge
The moment he said how much he thought it was worth, her response surprised me.
Was she shocked because she thought it was too low, or had she preferred that he hadn't said any price at all?
I’d have that in a heartbeat if it was offered. Diamonds leave me cold give me an Opal especially a black one any day.
you could not have this ring / bracelet made for 1000 pounds , no way
Absolutely stunning! ❤
I would think they'd make that now days too.its not like they don't no how? They charge enough
Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you have a ring that opens up into a bracelet. Holy cow!
such a priceless heirloom you have its worth about 1500 pfffft
1000 bucks for the ring? looks like it has more gold than that in there.
Someone finally figured out this show had millions of tiny clips to put adds on
I was expecting the top to open like a poison ring. What a cool ring/ bracelet!
Beautifully made ❤
wow this is beautiful, they should make things like this now days
Wow! ❤️
That painting is gorgeous
what a weak and under valued quotation = absolute rubbish ! = that is a $12, 000 all day long in any ones country !
I think this clip is around 20 years old
Guess you didn't bother to read the video description that states the video is from 2002 so 22 years ago!!!
@@1nm1j
Always amazes me that the jewelry isnt as valuable as a painting or a pot
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
$1000 to $1500??? I can see that going for $10k easy.
Did he say turquoise like terqwah?
Wow! Absolutely gorgeous! Hang onto this ring/bracelet for your (most responsible) grandchildren!
I can NEVER understand why jewelry owners NEVER clean their jewelry’s when they bring it to Antique Roads and Pawn Shops?
Stunning. Love it.
amazed it's only worth 1k
That ring is freaking beautiful
Jerri Hall has one she showed it to me we'd joke about it that you could put coke in your ring ..😮
I thought it had compartment my bad..😮
