I now want to write a story about a furry who creates a supertech fursuit for cons and ends upp accidentally becoming a superhero.

That would be an interesting twist on the "oops, now I'm a werewolf" sort of story. You might take a few pages of inspiration from a fairly lousy comedy film called "The Tuxedo" -- beware, it was panned harder than a Waffle House kitchen at lunch rush by every critic in town (and a few who weren't), and rightfully so, the plot is hot garbage at best -- but there are a few sci-fi ideas in there worth borrowing... along with the fact that the reason all that Neuroware junk sells so well is that the public at large has no idea how simplistic it really is inside (sorry folks, it's gratuitously useless trinketry at best).
In the latter case, assuming you're discussing an amateur film script (hey, go for the gold, dude!) and not a novel/book, the stupidly tired old trick of having someone wander around wearing a colander with a ridiculous mass of wires coming out of it from some sort of tech-probe-looking-something inside (maybe use like the lower quarter-length of a squishy-style tablet stylus? IDK) will go quite a long way here ;) I mean, it's been how many years since the original "Star Trek" episode "Spock's Brain" and the ridiculously silly hairdresser's perm 'helmet' full of metal spikes (just bits of random aluminum scrap rod turned on a lathe, no doubt -- an easy afternoon's job in those days) and yet that stupid trick still works! /sigh

That's quite possible if you know how to work with technology/wiring/coding and a basic understanding in welding/sewing when i was younger i loved to tinker with stuff and i'd take it apart to see what made it work but ever since i turned 18 i haven't had the time to sit down and work with my hands so most of my projects are collecting dust and unfinished

You can achieve this with smaller low density foam heads, and shortpile faux fur. The lightest fursuit head I’ve made only weighed half a kilo. :D

I don’t even know how you would make it THAT light. You can make it lighter by using 1inch foam and gluing it as if it is fabric for the head (/legs) but the lightest you can get it is just the plain fur, which is what the body is made of.

for the DTD replacement one, i saw a very cool app for custom clothes that are tailored to your body through a spandex outfit sent to you with white dots all over it. It almost seems like motion-capture, but it traces distance between dots to calculate your bodies' physical form! I saw this a while ago, but i still remember thinking it would be crazy helpful for fursuit makers.
edit; it's called Zozosuit! They are sharing their tech with third party buisnesses, too! I genuinely think if fursuit makers got their hands on this tech, it would make things so much easier! I am going to sound crazy to so many people but now I'm determined to get the fandom aware of this cool stuff!

I'm currently working on fursuit feet paws that the wearer can never grow out of. A person will be wearing clean shoes that are held down by polyester straps over the toes. And up from the heels to a strap around the ankles. Like a sandal inside the paw. And when the wearer is done growing new shoes can be glued down. But the wearer shouldn't run because that could be a hazard with a sandal interior. I'm also making a normal head base, hand paws and tail with the feet paws for my cousin.

Honestly I love the idea about using a phone to send measurements with a 3D scan app but it's no different than using measuring tape to send your measurements. As a fursuit maker myself, I need a physical base to work with to make sure it's going to fit on my customers body perfectly and to know where to place stripes and markings specifically on the body. HOWEVER! I am not saying it's a bad idea, this is just the only way I know how to sew and I need to make my own pattern off a dummy to get the design and shape right, and I personally can't work off just measurements alone for various reasons.

I was just complaining about heavy USB battery packs for my fans in my ears. I've been wanting to get new fans and wire them to something else other than USB, and now I want to try and find ones that shake to charge. I find they often don't last as long, and that could be good. Especially when dancing since they'd turn off after a while of not dancing, by then I'd probably be cooled off.
Also, I make fursuits that have very little waste by using fur clippings, foam chips and other scraps as stuffing in things like the tail, and I'm always super careful not to waste fabric when I cut stuff out. I've bought scraps from other makers and I was very confused to see circles cut out of the middle, when everything should be as close together as possible. Also, plush makers pay decent money for foam chips, anyone who uses foam bases already has a bunch of foam, so why not use it?

But i have a background in game development, programming and etc, And have even made simple animatronics via reused Lego motors.
It may not be for a while, but eventually, I hope to do something epic with a fursuit i try and create, With everything crammed into it i can possibly do.
My goal : actual live emotion and simulation of what the character would physically do and etc, such as tail movements and all sorts of things, Naturally without a single button press.
Who knows when i'll get to it, But eventually either way, I'm going to mess with it. That's a guarantee.

@Sebastian Hahn Yeah, embryonic development and splicing using genetic engineering and already developed individuals using things like CRISPR can do “some” things, but something like a full on transformation of your already developed form is going to require stuff like nanotech, since CRISPR or splicing can’t shape or change our bodies, bones, organs, etc in such a huge degree.
Think of that goo that transforms Wickus in District 9, that was definitely some kind of nanotechnology, since that’s the only kind of thing that could do so dramatic a change.

There will come a point where Fursuits, won't even be real suits anymore. They'd function, feel and look, as if they are you. They wouldn't be an extension of your body, they'd become your body

Itd depend on the person. Someone bought a fursuit for $50,000 during a bid, but there's also other people who think they should get fursuits for free and that giving a shout-out is enough payment

    You forgot...
    VR
    Spacial awareness and recognition
    External Cameras
Combine all 3 and you can:
Eliminate Fursuit vision, you can see just as you would normally.
basically have the Fursuit equivalent of Tesla vision.
And have fully robotic Fursuits that don't require you to be in them.

If tech and engineer furries ban together with fursuit makers, with a little bit of mad scientist craziness we could make revolutionary breakthroughs of changing the human form into ANYTHING. And why stop at just costumes? Make prosthetic limbs and upgrades to not only improve aesthetic but functionality of the human body into something better. Yeah we could get CYBERPUNK 2077 *real quick* if given the chance and resources.

See, the thing is, the most advanced fursuit using ALL of these advancements would cost an upwards of $100,000. Thats just probably for the materials alone. Including labor would probably be anywhere from $110,000-$130,000 (depending on the labor and some other factors). I want to use most of these advancements, trouble is it would take me over half my life to save up enough for one (not to mention I do not live in a furry friendly area).

    • @Real_UnholySins

I know this isn’t fursuit related but honestly I can seriously see Elon Musk trying to find as much information to up his rank n such by doing next level mad shiz and making All sorts of crazy looking electric cars or god knows what.
      When he sees this and gets to the Part where you power it yourself or solar energy or whatever;
      Elon be like;
“Okay guys; Our new car isn’t gonna be our normal everyday electric car..
      Maybe not even considered electric..
We’re gonna make it so it’s powered by the people themselves.
Hah so basically if they’re gonna drive or get to work; they need to exercise for half an hour to an hour just to get car able to drive or be powered and then go where they need to go”
Like seriously; something like that and then Elon’s plan just completely backfires.
      But honest mood though.
I can Seriously see Elon being on TH-cam and stumbling across this and this entire thing goes down.
      🤣😭
