I went to Bartending school and I now have a job at a Hotel Restaurant bar. They told me that the main reason they hired me was because they could tell, at the interview, how into it I was and how badly I wanted to learn. Don't give up guys, I started with no experience and I'm working my way up!

I got hired as a bartender at a sports bar, I have no experience! 😭 My best friend is a bartender there and she will be training me. I’m super nervous bc there is a Fight Saturday so it’s going to be packed. Plus the owners watch the cameras to make sure you’re doing the correct counts when pouring. I don’t wanna screw up.

Kurt Fox - they usually only hire women for front of house work because when people go to sports bars/dive bars they expect to have fun or flirty women serving them not other dudes, but with my experience of working in sports bars, yes being pretty helps, BUT most of the time if you get hired with no experience it’s because you have a good personality and attitude and a noticeable willingness to learn. Being pretty or having a nice chest or behind is great, but the customers would rather have a fun positive and nice person serving them than a super hot girl with a bad attitude and doesn’t know what she’s doing. But young pretty girls won’t be young and pretty forever so it’s worth using it while you can. I personally had my RN license (registered nurse) when I was 19 and still worked in sports bars until I was 25, 3 or 4 nights a week because I made double the money I would working as a nurse full time. Don’t hate because young beautiful women take advantage of the society that only cares about looks, hun.😘

I had zero experience and went to bartending school.. did my research.. and practiced. I am now bartending private events a few times a month! The money is great, and I love all the people I meet! I’m a go getter, and I’m driven. A lot of getting the job is putting yourself out there, trust me something will come to you. Just follow up and keep at it!

Biggest thing is that you communicate that you are eager to learn and that you are (reliable.) The bar that I started bartending at. I watch the management struggle with their prissy Coke head bartenders calling off all the time and not showing up for their shifts. I say the bar manager Having a meltdown over one of these unreliable bartenders, so I immediately approached him and said hey I really wanna become a bartender and I will be here anytime you need me. Would you be willing to train me to do it. My bar manager taught me a lot, and I even ended up filling in for him anytime he had a family emergency, and even learned a lot about running a bar from a managers perspective.

It also depends on where you work. If you’re working a beach bar club on the Jersey Shore where you’re hitting the speed rail liquors for well drinks the whole night, it doesn’t take years of experience.
The keys are appearance, hunger to learn, trustworthiness, flexibility, outstanding customer service and anticipation of customer needs/multitasking.
And I’m not even a bartender. But I’m certain those traits alone will bolster your odds greatly of getting hired.
