I didn't realize the working title G530 is so feature packed. I never use it really as I have the premium version of PM5 GTN750 which is a touch screen and makes doing VNAV much easier to use. Although cumbersome to use, the new G530 is full of features. Excellent video. I enjoyed it. I also enjoy flying the 182 which was worth the purchase price.

I am quite tempted by the TDS GTNXi

Yay, first successful ILS landing in 182RG. Dogs were able to sleep through the whole approach due to the lack of shouting at screen. Thank you, James keep em coming. (MooseP)

Bless you for this! I have been experimenting with this VNAV screen unsuccessfully for a while. Very helpful.

Thanks James. Great to transfer skills to other aircrafts. I'll be sure to add this method when approaching runways where possible

Thanks Suzie. The C-182 seems to have many hidden talents.

Hi Hud. Your use of the C182 RG in your videos tempted me enough to purchase it last week. You kept referring to the EGT in this video. It's the exhaust gas temp, correct? Is the gauge used for correct setting of the mixture? Any tips on how? Like in your video, my needle stays roughly in the middle to top end during a climb but then I'll notice it's suddenly gone all the way to the left.
Thanks for the very useful info on how to use VNAV. I'm about to give that a go now. I'm curious why you only set the height for the final approach though. On the chart you bring up at 6 minutes in, doesn't the 7000 at BIG mean you have to be above that altitude at that point? I think you had already begun descending by then and so were under 7000. Similarly with 6000 at BIG R293. Or are they just a guide? Unless relying on NAV mode on the AP, I could imagine it would be quite a faff to keep changing the VNAV for these different Altitudes on the chart.

You are correct: EGT = Exhaust Gas Temp.
This video may help you with that: th-cam.com/video/Tcb0TR76jDc/w-d-xo.html

I still use my Xbox wireless controller and my HOTAS One for my flying escapades.

Nothing wrong with that, at all.

always enjoy your tutorial videos James. This method seems easier than then the g1000. Just curious, not sure if you ever use X-Plane with the Garmin 530 or the 1000. Would the methodology be the same? I have all three platforms of the sims.

I really like this method & love that it's in my current favourite GA aircraft :)
