The bank has been brutal in the Northeast. You gotta cast past the first 20ft of ice lol. Barely any room to work a lure. And not too many fish to aim for in the first place. The only time I get them is if I can find minnow school and follow it.
@LowBrowFishing true fully. I hate sharing this but anywhere theres a nuclear reactor that pulles water from the the local waterways for cooling will let you know the timing of the bass spawn because the ball will go to the warmer water everytime 🙄. I hit up my river a few weeks or month or so early before the lakes to where the bass spawn. The smallest bass ive caught this year on a chatterbait fishing the river this year where the reactor gets it's cooling water was over 3lbs. Find the warmth and find the grass and find the females. I also caught a 27inches long largemouth on a a golden shiner with a balloon that barely weighed over 5lbs. I also use a popper with a hairjig tied about 18inches below the tail hook and that's a 2lb landing tip for you. Those males seem to like the top water while those girls like it DEEP. Think about it but who cares. I've been drinking tonight
I fished for one hour Friday from the bank and caught a 14", 7.5, 6, and another 6lb. LM. I had to make a 130' cast to brush piles on a main lake point. The water was 8' to 14' deep. I was using a Missile Baits D-Bomb (GP) on a Jika Rig (I make my own) 1/2oz weight. This is my best cold water rig for me. I use weights from 1/8oz to 1/2oz. The Baby D--Bomb works well to. I just drag it very slowly along the bottom and thru the brush. NE KS area.
okay so i just got a rod, but oops. it’s a boat rod, now im worried, cause my rod doesn’t have a lure rating, its a medium heavy rod fast action. but its a “boat” rod. can i still cast with it. am i supposed to use a heavier weight to make it cast able. i can’t afford another rod right now, but i also don’t want to waste my time if its not good for casting. any tips or advice. it’s a 7ft rod.
I don't think there really is a "boat" rod or a "bank" rod. The rod is based more on the technique and lures you use than where you are fishing from. A 7 ft medium heavy rod is a great choice for many applications. Lighter, finesse applications, like wacky rigs or small ned rigs, might be a challenge with your rod, but overall, I'd say your good for most things you want to do.
@@LowBrowFishing another question. because you’re so helpful. what’s a good casting distance. i’m just starting out using a rod. what distance can i expect, and does experience and technique factor in
Have you been catching them from the bank?
With your help, I catch year round from the bank 👍🏽
I've worn tracks in the ground around my lake 😂. Thanks for always remembering us bank fishermen!
I always try to remember that the vast majority of my audience fishes from the bank!
I like fishing from shore. A boat is too much of a hassle and you have all those extra expenses.
My little boat doesn't have a lot of extra costs, thankfully. But my big Bass Buggy likes to spend money, lol!

Dealing with hard water is definitely a challenge, but at least you're able to find a good way to find fish!
@LowBrowFishing The trout are still biting more actively where I live, so they've been keeping the skunks away lol.
That drawdown is so nice for bank anglers. We don’t have anything near to us where that happens. And totally agree with the boat ramps! So good.
I imagine you have to deal with a good deal of hard water in your area right about now.
The river here near the Tennessee Eastman has warmer water than anywhere else in this region so it's a no brainer for me at least.
Finding warmer water is a good idea!

I like those D Bombs on a mojo or a Texas rig!
Thank you for the advice
I'm happy you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Your channel should have so many more subscribers! It's such a shame that so few people sub yet you get tons of views.
Thanks so much for the support!

@@LowBrowFishing one other things. what weight lures can i use? i’m assuming something a bit heavier?
@@neillamm I'd feel okay with anything from 1/8 oz to 3/4 oz
