As a Native Hawaiian who's visiting Redding right now MUCH LOVE and RESPECT to my fellow Indigenous/Native people brothers and Sisters!!!DON'T GIVE UP AND KEEP FIGHTING for your birthrights!!! Much love!!!
I’m Shasta through my paternal grandmother but she never taught my father anything. He received money as a teenager back in the 60s, but her sisters sent their checks back, ripped up. I’ve never had the opportunity to learn about this part of my ancestry and I’ve always felt a profound sense of loss as a result.
I can't help but to appreciate this tribe's desire to be recognized and given the opportunity to take action to preserve their way of life. It's just that I question the whole notion of asking for recognition by the American government and the United Nations. To do so legitimizes their power. My sense is that this is the time when legitimacy of the nation state is deeply called into question. Many of us are withdrawing our belief - and that also means energy - in the right of the US gov and other political organizations to wield any kind of power in our world. Who are these elitists? I have come to realize that all people in our world are conquered people. We are all slaves of one kind or another. And as we all come to terms with this truth, then we are in the best position ever to release our support of these patriarchal, top down, command and control structures and to return to a natural way of living. Aho!
Dang man. Im all for them having that river completely. With access to (non tribal) visitors only permitted within certain times of the season. Please, lets start respecting our native indigenous people. Alot of my spirituality stems from native teachings and medicine, i truly believe that the indigenous people are the future of this country. They will come back strong.
Love love and nothing but love to the trip . Thank you for shering this fine video .I am so happy to be lisening to your wisdom . Thank you so much . Blessings to you all . With love from one in Denmark ...... Thank you .
I am part of the Shasta tribe we are fighting too. I'm greatful for my tribe and I want to learn more about my ancestors. It would help if we could have peace in our tribes to fight as a United front.
@@SeekerofTruths that's not right to say. If she really is of their TRIBE BLOOD, then she has a say. Regardless of her skin color. All tribes look different. It is that thought that is holding us back.
@@SeekerofTruths guess what asshole not all Native's are tan like you seem to think. I have a bit of Native blood in me with a splash of Irsih. Guess what my skin color is in my Irish blood. So yeah we come white too, maybe read a book and look at others that is in our tribe.
Where can I buy those grass caps that you wear, do you have an internet site where you sell them? My tribe the Chemehuevi used to wear those, but I don't know anyone that makes them down here in Southern California.
Non indigenous people are so clueless!!! They say we are not civilized,, yet who interrupts scared ceremonies and shows such disrespect! Keep going toward your goal!!!
I was born in Mt Shasta and lived in McCloud till I was six (1982) and frequently fished the McCloud River. I've known there were native tribes before but I didn't know your tribe existed till I started doing a youtube search. That area can only be blessed by recognizing the native culture of the area. Please let me know what I can do to help you
I'm wintu and my father and grandmother were barely taught anything about being native and so I know almost nothing. I see other tribes from different parts of the world and so wish that could be me😭😭😭
That's no woman. A woman is modest and doesn't display their body like a fool. I am sorry you have to go through that. My son is 25% wintu as to why I'm watching this. I am working hard to teach him his roots.
How can I appease native American spirits my house was built on native land and I'm white and I feel a lot of anger and guilt not sure how to rectify the situation the house has been in my family for a hundred years so I can't just move. Any help would be appreciated I'm from Redding California
How many of you this mountain have an ancient similar carving of hindu deity Lord Dharma sastha Ayyappa from Sabarimala Kerala India which is one of the most visited pilgrimage center in the world over 5 million devotees visiting every year. Revive ancient culture and religion

Thank you. We are posting on our channel as we support your mission for recognition.

Ignorance is right! It so saddens me to here and see this. Stay strong and keep fighting for our people and culture.

Spread the word about our tribe. I think if we get enough people talking about this something is bound to happen. Yes I am part of this tribe.
I feel sorry for them people have no respect for others ancient tradition it makes me sick

Same thing happened with our family, my parents were ashamed to be Indian, so we didn’t learn from our grandparents.
Same. I wasn’t taught about my Wintu heritage until my teens and my family kinda kept hush hush but I finally got my CDIB
I 100% support you my grandpa family comes from here
Im sad for u and all your people AHO ALL MY RELATIONS

This is sad, natives should be top priority since this was their land that's been taken and abused. Greedy humans.....

Right!
What the hell is that to mean? We are a tribe not dogs.
🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely horrible.
I don't think its right to put restrictions on someone who's lived and have known the land far more than before the white man came
Those are very white shastan from the original 😬
We got turtle Island now baby, read em and weep!
