Daryl was so excited to be singing with Smokey. He was fan girling hard 😂 Pulling out some of Smokey's old hits. He looked so happy 😁❤😎💯
When the full episodes were up on the LFDH website originally, I seem to remember comments that Smokey didn't like to do Ooh Baby Baby anymore. Can't remember why - maybe he done it so much in the past. But Daryl and company segued into it at the end of Sara Smile and nudged Smokey into doing it. I think that's why they were all smiling. Anyway, glad to see a lot of the original episodes back up again after being in syndication for a while. The total body of work from LFDH is just incredible.
My understanding was Smokey told Daryl that he would do the show provided they didn't do that song.
Which I think is why Daryl was looking a bit wry in his smile

oh my gods...I can only watch this video every once in a while. It's just so f'ing good that I can hardly stand it. I am not so musically oriented, meaning that I don't "speak" the language of music, but every time I listen to this, I feel like I pick up just a bit more of this mysterious sonic conversation. Sublimely soul shattering.
Timeless tunes
Being a professional vocalist, I have to agree with however you are experiencing this video. There is no right way or wrong way. It's two superstars that came together to make their songs into a new interpretation. I am breathless. Wow.
I try to watch this (and sing poorly to it) almost everyday. Nobody sings this like Smokey, and nobody is cooler than Daryl Hall.
Also try to listen to Kipling"s "If".
And thank god for every minute.

Daryl's voice to me has matured and gotten more mellow and sweet. I know that Hall and Oates was "categorized" as Pop. Hmmm hate that music is categorized. Great music is great music. However; just my opinion, to me the "Sweet spot" in Daryl's Voice is in R&B". Loved the collaboration with Smokey Robinson.🤗💙💘

Back in 1966 and in England l bought a record called l'm the one you need by the Miracles wasn't a big hit but a great record l knew then that Smokey was a class act still got it all these years on and Daryl has that same natural ability. Really good to listen to great stuff.
