This interview has really stirred me, I am 56 years old and have been racked with guilt for years, I'm wish I had an ounce of this womens courage. Maybe I could of saved other children from being abused, I'm shaking as I write this, my 14 year old self is writing this.
I was sexualy abused by a BBC camera man, he told me he worked on Top of the Pops , at the time he abused me they were filming a children's drama called Code Name Icrus which was aired in 1981 / 1982 . My parents had a pub that was being filmed in the drama, the crew used to drink in there after filming, I was star struck, especially with a camera man who was telling me about all of the famous pop stars he'd worked with, and Blue Peter, he even gave me a Blue Peter Badge which he conveniently produced from his trouser pocket.
Whilst drinking at the bar he was buying baccadi and Coke, and buying me coke , he was then tipping the baccadi from his glass into mine, at the time I thought it was so cool, my parents had no idea what he was doing, at 10 o'clock my parents told me to leave the bar and go to bed which I did, due to the amount of alcohol I'd been given I fell asleep almost immediately, I guess it was aprox an hour later I was woken up by the camera man getting into my bed , I was absolutely terrified during my abuse.
As an adult now I know I couldn't of been the only child he'd groomed and attacked, he knew exactly what he was doing.
I didn't tell my parents because I thought I'd get into trouble, I told my Mum when I was 35 years old, she was mortified and sad that I didn't tell her at the time.
I carry so much guilt, because I know i probably wasn't the last child he abused. The lady here has so much courage, how brave she is.

I had a friend who was a guest at a civic banquet in the 1980s. No one could sit down until the guest of honour took their seat. When she went to sit down the male dignitary in the seat next to her had put his hand, palm up, on her chair. She turned to him and quietly said. ‘ if you don’t remove your hand I’ll break your fucking arm!’ A no nonsense young woman ahead of her time!!

Between Rolf & “Hey,Dad”,working in the industry wasn’t good.
As a rape victim in my 20’s who never reported it,I feel so proud of women like Suzi for outing such creepers.

It was not just Harris. Back in the 80s, Tony Blair was fined £500 by Bow St Magistrates Court for solliciting young men in a public toilet. He gave his name as Charles Lynton and didn't appear in Court. Another one in the ring was Gary Glitter and Cliff Richard. Why do you think Jill Dando was murdered ? She was getting too close.

My hubby and I had a really unloved bringing up,but James we’ve been together for 60yrs,and it’s really took our three boys to teach us love, especially my youngest. I relate so much to what Suzi has been through - I have a story or two of my own. It's a complex issue though, and not as simple as women being the victims and men the perpetrators. In our work to ensure women get the support and justice they need we need to be aware and guard against the misuse and abuse of that very system by women. The processes in place to help and support women are being weaponised by some women - it's way too easy to make false allegations against men with devastating, permanent and irreversible consequences. In my case it cost my son his wife and family and in the end cost his life. The female got away scot free in spite of authorities knowing (and admitting they knew) that the allegations were false. While our experiences of abuse have been devastating, and the journey to recovery long and difficult, it's important to ensure we keep a balance and realise that abuse can and is perpetrated by men AND women, and that we need to advocate for justice for PEOPLE, not just women.

I'm sorry that it keeps being mentioned it was an 80s thing. It's still happening today. The police in scotland ignore complaints of sexual assaults and the gym l was assaulted in was Pure Gym, full of cameras, it was a staff member and everybody just stared. .....not my only experience. It hasn't changed. The policeman told them to get rid of the cctv of the 3 minute long assault.

when i was young i had a odd feeling about rolf harris and jimmy savile. as i got older i just could not stand to watch tem on tv. so explains alot i also get the same feeling when i have come across any creeps. its a female thing that is built inside us.

Yes I got that about Jimmy Saville when I saw his car parked outside a shop near where I lived, at first I went wow that's Jimmy Saville's rolls and then this fear swept over me and I grabbed my young daughter's hand and rushed past the shop before he came out and I hurried away. That was in the nineties and now I e been wondering what he was doing there.I somehow thought he had a caravan there but am not sure. This was in Devon.

I was a child in the mid 70's ...Savile, I used to run out the room when Jim fix it came on, mum would say what's up, I had this horrible gut feeling. Never got it with Harris, swap shop sort of strange! Watched Tizwas instead! was just fun and rock stars, Motor Head, Quo, Cozy Powell which I loved no bad vibe. ....Not surprised ...just some bad shite vibes within certain kids TV looking back. Feel for this lady, god bless.

I remember going to a shop in the 70s, when I was 13-14 & the man working in the shop made me stand in a narrow place, between displays of goods & then pressed his way past me, running his hands all over me in the process.
I told my mother & she just said, "Oh men are always like that".
My mother was a crap abusive mother anyway but I told other girls at school & several of them had had similar experiences & only one mother had complained at all, & nobody went to the police, she had only complained to the manager, today hopefully the average mother would be calling the police.

Being heard really helps the healing process...the average child abuser groomz/attacks 115 children. One out 3 stay silent, the other 2 don't !!!
I've never seen justice, my family won't speak to me...I struggle some days. It's hard to move on when I've been attacked as an adult and keep seeing perps get away with it, protected by the legal system. The statute of limitations has to go !!! It affects someone for life, if they don't die from substance abuse or unaliving themselves.

So sad & angry! Rolf could have had a good life for all of his life. He had talent, money, skills, friends etc. Was that not enough? What a waste of a life, just to work up to a point where he got himself in such a load of trouble he has to spend the rest of his life in prison & leave a trail of hurt children & young people behind him. What crap decision making over & over again. I do not know whether he lacks a conscience or is so nasty he just completely ignores the voice of his own conscience.. Shameful. So shamefull.
