Of course, you can't prevent a freak ankle break, like with Danilo, but you can prevent many serious hamstring tears, etc. by looking after the players properly & Nuno's team clearly prioritises that over rushing players back.

I think Villa have the record for most spent after promotion, and it hasn't worked out badlly for them either, ultimately. But also, it never guarantees success. Southampton and Ipswich have spent over £100m this season too.

As an AFCB fan, we want to finish another place higher than last season. Anything more is a bonus. But considering the key players we are missing at the minute [ obviously you pundits won't know this kind of thing ], we are doing superbly well. For what it's worth, I say to people that the greatest 1 Season Miracle in English football is Leicester winning the League....the greatest 3 season Miracle is Forest going from promotion to Champions of England, and Twice champions of Europe (and two League Cups too).....and the greatest 10 season Miracle is AFCB going from 4th Division and rattling tins to survive ( I recall it being on Football Focus !!!) to becoming an established PL club. Respect to what your club has achieved !!
Forest fan here ; Simon is right. What Leicester did was a once in 30 years thing. Like Forest winning the League in 1978 or Ipswich in 1962. Everything went right for Leicester in 2016 - and they took full advantage. The highest we will finish is 7th. We could yet finish 13th. Top Half would still do me.....which would be our best position since 1996 - 29 years. I am looking forward to next SUmmer - I think we will be very active in the transfer market.
Forest need another striker with guaranteed goals and i know thats not easy to find but whats exciting is that for the first time in decades, we are one more decent striker away (Chris Wood included) from having the potential to push for Europe. I actually dont think the team is punching that much above its potential at all.

I'll be happy if Bournemouth prove Simon wrong, won't be the first time! Lol. My club is in the top six on merit as are Forest. Half of the season has almost gone and these teams are in the top half. Yes, it's close and you can go down to Man Utd in those in competition for the top six, but Forest and Bournemouth don't have as many fixtures as they are not currently in European competitions and Brentford, Fulham and Brighton will all be challenging as well. Injuries and cup runs are the only things that are likely to prove a challenge for the smaller sides. The Premier League is changing and Man Utd, Tottenham and Newcastle are under far more pressure than the Bournemouth and Forest's of this world. Simon you are looking backwards - you are a romantic hoping the top six will not change. Man Utd have spent massively but look where it has got them in the last few seasons. Bournemouth have spent big for a club their size, but they have done it wisely and that is what counts. Our transfers have been exceptionally good as have Brentford, Brighton and Fulham. Clubs like Bournemouth are ambitious and are looking to change perceived ideas of what can and can't be done. That is why they hired Iraola, because the club is progressive. I'm not Bournemouths biggest fan but everyone underestimates them due to the size of the stadium. They've beat some very high profile clubs and grind out results as everyone thinks they'll beat Bournemouth at a canter. Leeds were horrific in their last season in the Prem.

Stadium size has nothing to do with how well a club performs, as you've stated. That thought process about Bournemouth will disappear in a few years. They are getting all their ducks in a row at the moment. 36m training complex/Academy opening next year and Stadium to be announced too. Doing things the right way round, get the infrastructure set up so they can continue to compete at PL level, sell home grown players for pure profit and worry about seats in the ground later on.

Can't speak of Bournemouth co I don't know enough about them. But Forest will maintain this. They were ranked 6th or 7th best counter attack side in all of Europe's top 5 leagues. While last season they had a massive weakness at set pieces, from open play thet were 6th best premier league defence. They've solved the set piece issues, and the bones for maintaining it were there last season

as a forest fan i would be incredibly happy with conference league. that is way beyond we could ever hoped for 3/4 season ago. and even if we do manage that id be happy to be knocked out at an early stage. otherwise it could ruin us and potentially relegate us as we don't have the depth...... and to be frank if we drop off and finish mid table like 10/11/12, for me that's still a dam good season

Forest lost two games recently to Arsenal and City. We're still up there. Also, we've played City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, ManU and Brighton all away from home. They all have to come to the City Ground. We may not win all of them, but we have a good chance of picking up quite a few points from that lot, which obviously denies them points as well.
most forest fans would be happy with mid table with no fear of a relegation battle but European qualification would be the icing on the cake.
Playing midweek will adversely affect them in the Premier League so it’s a difficult one, but it would be great to qualify for the UCL
