Such a marvelous piece, so wonderfully played. My late father loved the horn. Shortly before he died of cancer, I showed him a high quality video of a top horn section playing this thing. He got the biggest grin you ever saw lying in his bed. Demanded a audio recording of the piece. He listened to it every day until he died a couple of weeks later.
I am, as the Brits like to say, gobsmacked! Somehow, in a life of 82 years, conducting bands and playing trumpet and French horn, I had never heard this before stumbling on this performance on TH-cam. I’ll never forget the upward arpeggios and the magnificent sound and precision of the four marvelous players!!!😄😮
Woow, what a performance! The best I've ever heard! The big dude is insane, what a horn player! This is an extremely hard peace of music, but for him just like me having a breakfast! Congratulations for you all! Very well done
That may be the most beautiful performance I have ever heard. Bravo!
I have played all four of these parts and I can say this is one of the most beautifully played and musical performances out there. I have heard some of the world's best play this, and these four are amongst the greatest! Bravo!
Atemberaubend..
Incredible. Monsters, all of them. But one is also a maniac for doing it on an Alex 103. Seriously who does principal on this on a double? A goddamn maniac monster. kudos to everyone
One of the most difficult works in the horn repertoire, played amazingly, appreciated by a clarinettist.
This was a VERY CLEAN and TIGHT performance!!!! Beautifully played throughout the Soli and Orchestra!!!!! Bravo Ladies and Gentleman
You have chosen the apt words : "clean and tight". A very good rendition indeed !
Great ensemble and what a solo horn player!! He's a fantastic player! One of the best versions of this piece I heard on TH-cam. Thanks for putting it on TH-cam!
Fantastic performance. - And a great way to distribute the load of the horn parts among the group in the 2nd and 3rd movement!
Just astounding. As a horn player I know intimately the difficulty of this piece, and this quartet nailed it. That beautiful Alexander 103 sound! Actually, now I think of it, I'm not sure I've ever seen the first horn part NOT performed on a descant or triple. He clearly didn't need it; those high E's rang out with no visible effort. Brilliant performance from beginning to end, soloists and orchestra.
In May I watched the horn players from the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra playing the Konzerstück on their Vienna Horns (Single F) in a live concert. It was a great performance with unmatched sound!
@@Fafner1956 I am SO envious! The Vienna horn is an incredibly difficult instrument, and the sound is to die for!
Outstanding performance! Matias makes it look so easy, and it's anything but. Maria, Mia and Christina, you all play so beautifully and make a fantastic section - go the girls!
yesterday I saw Matías playing a Horn concert of Mozart here in Chile, it was abslutely amazing!
Fantastic! A brilliant rendition of the piece, which is a huge achievement for any aspiring horn player. Great to see three ladies too - on an instrument that was considered a male preserve for the longest time. They are so accurate and together, perfectly balanced. WELL DONE! It's a pity the cameraman didn't concentrate more on the soloists.
One of the best I've heard! Great playing from all four horns!
A truly outstanding performance! And one of the reasons it's so good, is the entire Horn section are playing the same brand of Horn: Alexander. There's been a lot of discussion about this (same, vs. different Horn manufacturers within a section), but I attended an International Horn Workshop in the 1980s where a clinic demonstration clearly showed that sections using the same equipment blended better. Your opinion may vary, of course. But this is pretty good proof of the theory.
How beautiful!! One of my favorite pieces. I hope to some day play first horn
Bravissimi!!! Congratulations to this great horn section!! Compliments to all 4 soloists! Great performance!!!
And Gergiev!
Yo, Matias!! And on a 103 to boot. Most people wouldn't dare! Beautiful performance from everybody!!
When Stefan Dohr and Matias Piñeira in the same horn section ... Bayreuth Festpiele , for example ....
10:04 : the piece sampled in nearly every early Lou Barlow records (Sebadoh, Sentridoh...). After more than 30 years, it's cleared...
Just wow. This performance is is simply superb in both technique and musicianship and playing as an ensemble so well together. First class job by the orchestra and on the video editing, too.
Bravissimi!!! Great performance!! Compliments to all 4 soloists!! Bravi bravi!!!
Esecuzione spettacolare, cornisti bravissimi, il primo corno superlativo.

Wunderbar, einfach Fantastisch!!! Herzlichen Grüsse aus Lima Perú..
The best channel! Thanks for sharing this content
Spot on! Never heard that clean and neat performance.. Hats off for all 4!
What a beautiful and interesting sound this group brings to this difficult piece! Matias is, of course, an outstanding musician and soloist, and this shows his remarkable musicianship and command of the instrument. The supporting cast is wonderful throughout but particularly so in the beginning of the slow movement. I especially like the subtlety and nuance in the 4th horn playing. It's easy to overdo the low part, or not give it enough, or become crass. Bravo, and brava!
Extraordinaire, magnifique, bravissimo!!
Magnificent! BRAVO!
Fantastic ! Bravissimo !
ESPECTACULAR VERSION.......GRAN MATIAS...... FELICITACIONES
Excepcional. Uma das mais célebres orquestras europeias. Afinadíssma! Grata surpresa.
interesting and curious phrasing/tempo. Magnificently played by all members of the orchestra who seemed to all understand the phrasing. LOVE the horns!!! Very well Done!!!
I really like Ms. Rubio's clear tone and attacks. Bravo!
Fantástica versión 💪👏🎉📯
The perfect opening for a new Fantasia-like spectacle.
Wonderful playing. From a horn player to the four, salut!

Super impressive! Wow
Pineira must win the Berliner Philharmoniker Solohorn chair!
Exceptionnel!!!
Great 103 Sound!
Wonderful performance indeed... second only to the version of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Stunning Job by Matias, though.
Wunderbar!

Wahnsinn!😊👏👏 Ich bin begeistert.

Amazing performance! Don't these people know how difficult this piece is supposed to be?
Stunning performance, but I didn't recognize Val without his toothpick...... Oh wait, I think he had the toothpick.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Explotado!!!!
Bravo. Bravo exceptional performance. I am not a big fan of the Turner arrangement, but performed brilliantly. Again Bravo 👏👏👏👏
? Is there a big difference to the original? Are notes missing? Is it easier? I have never heard- about the Turner arrangement.
@@john-horn There are no missing notes versus the original and not necessarily easier. In the original the yeoman's share of the heavy listing is handled by the 1st and 2nd part. The Turner version just distributes it throughout all 4 parts so that more rest is given to the 1st horn.
@@Ramjet223 thank you 🙏
God level 🔝
Bravi! Wonderful performance by all! The overall quality of horn playing world-wide has taken such a huge leap in the past couple of decades. I credit this, in part to the great teaching and performing of the late great Dale Clevenger. Whether any of the artists in this performance studied directly with Dale I do not know. But his influence was worldwide.
This is Great! Hey, don't Crack my horn!
Are there any commercial CD recordings of this? Any others which might be comparable in skill and feeling? Thank you.
Круто
This is brutal..
Cool avec une majorité de femmes!

Astonishing how different the first three sound compared to the fourth in that sequence (the Horn 1 part) -- almost sounds like they were mic'ed differently? Like perhaps Horn 1 had a dedicated microphone but the other three horns were using room mics? Seems like they have more "echo" in their tone.
👏👏👏👏

Outstanding performance! Bravo! The conductor's constant finger waggling is very distracting though! I've played under a lot of conductors, but never one who did that.
It's a tremor, I'm pretty sure he can't help it.
I know the conductor is in trouble now but this performance will n my opinion never be surpassed
beautiful ! When was this performance take place?

Why is everyone clapping like they just played Mozart's 3rd Horn concerto? Lol
it needs a stinger, but otherwise wonderful
Is Gergiev conducting...with...a...TOOTHPICK??
Face Nappies - No No No !
Sorry to say this but maestro Gergiev simply don't get this piece. Tempo is completely off.
Teh conductor's "hand trembling" is extremely annoying!
Jörg Brückner als Erster Solo Horn war viel besser ! Ich vermiesse ihn !
Jörg is absolutely amazing person and great musician. I was privileged to meet him in Saint-Petersburg in 2018.
WHO THE hELL IS THIS CONDUCTOR ! This is a pure insult to the orchestra... shameful !
Oh he's a nobody, just one of the world's great maestros.
