- I've been meaning to get this one out for months now and finally got around to finishing it. This is from a session back in August, when I found Brixham at somewhere near its best and had a fish filled day, with a really nice mixture of species, the very last one being the highlight!

Perfect weather to sit back watch & chill 👍🏻
Hope you enjoy mate! 👍🎣
Nice to wake up to another fantastic Devon Lerfer video. One of my fave lerfers. Thank you for all the info you provide too - looking to do some shopping to downscale my lure kit with some new lrf gear. I'm hooked on lrf videos atm. Wishing you a great new years and look forward to 2023. Tight lines sir!
Thanks mate, appreciate the kind words! Happy New Year and tight lines! 👍🎣
A great watch for a staring lerfer, thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed watching, tight lines 🙂🎣
A great watch on a miserable day in Brixham. The reaction the topknot got from Lucas was amazing haha.
Thanks mate, very different weather in the video to what we're suffering at the moment wasn't it 😅 yeah I did have a chuckle when I heard that in the video, love his passion!
Some cracking wee 🐟 🐠. Not been out for a couple of years cos of covid stuff but after watching this video I'll get planning this years lrf sessions. Hope you have a great fishing season ahead. 👍
Thanks mate. Good to hear you're planning some LRF sessions! Tight lines for 2023 👍🎣
Great video rich, glad to see you start talking!
Thanks mate 😁🎣
Been a week dedicated to my new granddaughter so no fishing for me such a relaxing and chilled watch brilliant video can’t wait to be back out and hopefully see you all in the new year
Congratulations mate and thanks! Happy New Year, see you in 2023! 👍🎣
Cracking video and what a session Rich, don't think I've ever had 15 in on session before down here in the east. Happy New year to
you, Ben and Joe. See you all soon cheers Phill
Thanks mate, that was one of my better sessions of this year, it's not always quite that productive 😅
Happy New Year mate, see you in 2023 👍🎣
Great vid Rich! 👍
Thanks mate! 🙂🎣
What a session 👏making it look so easy 😊 that corkwing looked a right chunk 💪
Cheers mate, it is pretty easy when Brixham is firing like that 😁 love a big corky 🙂🎣
@@DevonLerfer really must get bk down there this year 🙏
Great video Rich nice topper
Thank you mate, was well chuffed with the topknot 🙂🎣
Lovely vid mate.That Topknot!
Thanks mate! Was so chuffed to catch the topknot, was a perfect way to end a great day 🙂🎣
Thanks Rich, what a cracking session that was, I am horribly jelous as we don't get anything like that number on the south coast, got to keep trying though.
Thanks mate, nowhere quite like Brixham in my opinion but loving seeing you guys having a go over your way 🙌🎣
Amazing session mate. The Instagram post on the day didn't do it justice like the video did! Very enjoyable watch! Those long summer sessions feel like a distant memory. So was nice to be taken back. More please!!!!! oh, 19:53 - How does a Mackerel go??? Haha
Thanks mate 😁 ah I almost cut that out as it sounded so daft, I knew someone would say something 🤣
@@DevonLerfer well I'm glad you left it in. Made me chuckle. Along with the "big fat blubbery friend" one. The clips did make me chuckle
That was worth every minute
Thanks mate! 🙌🎣
Just come across your channel pal and find it fascinating. I’ve just purchased my first LRF set up and can’t wait to get started. Not a clue what I’m doing but am going to give it a go! Subbed mate!
Hi mate, brilliant to hear that you're going to LRF a crack. I hope you become as addicted and obsessed as I have 😂 thanks for watching and subbing to my channel 🙌🎣
@@DevonLerfer got a lot of advice from someone down your way which was kind. Brought an Aikido 1-7g rod and Aikido 1000 reel. Going to keep it simple and learn drop shotting first then venture out. Trouble is I live in Kent so may have to have a weekend to Devon/Cornwall to look at different species.
@@jamesrobertson9930 that's a great set up mate, starting off with the right gear gives you a fighting chance at least! Dropshot is a good rig to start with, a split shot rig is also really simple and effective. Not sure if you're on Facebook but The Big Lerf group that we run is full of friendly and helpful folk if you're looking for a broader range of advice and opinions 🙂
@@DevonLerfer I’m not on FB but will create an account just for my fishing ventures and join the group.
@@jamesrobertson9930 excellent mate, see you over on the group 🙂
Great video 👍
Thanks mate! 👍🎣
How did you know what sex the Wrasse was before you landed it please My son would like to know thanks
Hi there, I'm not sure if I do in this video, but in another Brixham video I spotted female cuckoo wrasse, which are all pink, whereas the males are bright blue and pink 🙂🎣
How did you pack the rod for flying. Separate itemised item or just inside the suitcase
@@gp4103 all in my suitcase mate, rod, lure bag and even my net 🙂
Could you kindly remind me what cheb and hook you are using Rich.
You did mention before but
I've forgotten.
Every 1-4g cheb i buy seems to have thick wire so i cannot pass my size 12-16 hook onto them
Help!!!
Ps: what an awesome coloured ballan that was, so dark but with a nice copper coloured lateral line.
Beauty
Hi mate, I tend to get my chebs from predator tackle and use a decoy sg-3 hook usually 👍 it's not that easy to find suitable hooks to fit a Cheb unfortunately!
Was blown away by that ballan, one of the most impressive looking ones I've caught!
@@DevonLerfer thanks Rich.
Are they the vike chebs
Yes that's the ones mate. Nine Seven Tungsten also do some decent chebs 👍
@@DevonLerfer thanks once again!
Brilliant session! Just wondering, would you tie rigs up on the spot? And would you switch rigs due to snagging or more for targeting different fish?
Thanks! Yes I tie all my rigs on the spot, some prefer to pre tie certain rigs though. I switch rigs depending on what I'm targeting or to suit the ground I'm fishing, although a snag will often be what prompts a change of method!
@@DevonLerfer thanks for the reply! I pre tie my rigs and store them using the carp rig foam roller things. Saves a lot of valuable fishing time!
Action packed video! Was such a good watch! Would you mind telling me the gram rating of both the rods you use in this video? Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed watching! The rod I'm using to start with is a Tailwalk Ajist, rated up to 5g and the other rod is a Major Craft Truzer, which is rated up to 7g 👍🎣
@@DevonLerfer Great! Thank you! Those mackerel look like incredible fun on that rod! I'll look into getting one myself!
@@TheTangledAngler no worries. Mackerel are so much fun on LRF gear, a genuinely great sportfish! Let me know if I can help with anything else!
@DevonLerfer final question I swear... what breaking strain line and leader are you using on the second rod?!
@@TheTangledAngler haha, always happy to help if I can! I was using a 0.4pe braid (around 6lb breaking strain) and 4lb fluorocarbon leader 👍
Great video, can you tell me what metals you were using please ?
Thank you! I was using Major craft jigpara metals in this video 👍
@@DevonLerfer Thank-you, sorry to be a pain ,what sort of weight do you use ?
@@paulspencer434 on this occasion I was using 5g and 7g metals but generally anything between 3g and 7g, depending on location, conditions and what I'm targeting 🙂
@@DevonLerfer Thank-you, very helpfully information.
What size hooks are you using for split shot rigs, are they around size 16 or smaller?
Yeah 16 is my go to size for all round stuff mate. I'll scale down a bit if targeting the smaller gobies or stuff like that, but a size 16 covers most species I'm likely to encounter 👍
Thanks for reply
Poor Cod/Pouting/Bib are same species…
Pouting and bib are the same species but poor cod are an entirely different species, different fin positions, different colour and different shape 🙂
