Then you also had the Puritans, who's leader, John Winthrop, came to the Americas where he felt they could create the ideal English church, "a light to the nations". They landed in 1630. The Puritans rejected religious freedom and numbered approximately 1000.
Pilgrims were definitely pursuing religious freedom along with being economic refugees (or adventurers). Puritans were not, they just wanted to create their own personal utopia, and America was the best place for that in their opinion. 2 different groups that get conflated.
