Yes, we lost in the first round, after a HELL of a regular season performance. Just because we didn't get the Cup, doesn't mean the team isn't worthy of support in their other efforts. We'll get back to the Playoffs again, but we need to put the loss behind us and focus on supporting the team. That's all that matters.

Personally, I think the Yankees collapse in 2004 should be number 1. While the Cubs collapse in 2003 was an epic disaster, it was still kind of expected from the Cubs at that point. On the other hand, nobody expected the Yankees to crumble against the Red Sox. Considering their history, the Curse of the Bambino, and what happened the between those teams the year prior. It was one of the greatest sports stories of all time.

    A few suggestions for a Part 2:
--The 2019 Tampa Bay Lightning (Utterly dominated the league in the regular season and won the Presidents' Trophy by a landslide, tying the NHL record for most wins in the regular season in the process. In the playoffs? Swept in the first round by the Columbus Blue Jackets, who hadn't won a playoff series in their existence up to that point.)
--The 2019 Vegas Golden Knights (Had a 3-1 series lead against the San Jose Sharks. Blew that lead. Particularly, in Game 6 at home, let in a shorthanded goal in double overtime, and then in Game 7, they blew a 3-0 lead by letting in four goals in four minutes. For those that claim the refs were responsible, refer to both Game 6 and the very soft goal they let in to end Game 7's overtime.)
--The 2014 San Jose Sharks (For fairness's sake. Reverse swept by the Los Angeles Kings, a major rival, who for extra pain went on to win the Stanley Cup for the second time in three years.)
--The 2016 Atlanta Falcons (They're already on the Honorable Mentions in this video. Blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl.)
--The 2003 Minnesota Vikings (Won their first six games to get a very hot start. Proceeded to lose seven of their last ten, including blowing an 11-point lead to the 3-12 Arizona Cardinals to knock them out of the playoffs.)
--Ajax Amsterdam in the 2019 UEFA Champions League semifinal (Had a 3-0 aggregate lead going into the second half of the second game, only to allow a hat trick to Lucas Moura to lose to Tottenham Hotspur on away goals.)
--The 2011 Texas Rangers (Were *twice* one strike away from defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series. Both times they allowed a hit that tied the game. Then they allowed a walk-off home run to David Freese to force Game 7, and then they lost Game 7 as well to lose the series.)
    Just a few ideas.

You made one serious omission which was a prelude to the Red Sox collapse in the 1986 world series. The Sox themselves were benefactors of another epic collapse in the preceding ALCS before their series with the Mets. They were down 3 games to 1 to the Angels in that series and were trailing in the top of the ninth inning in game 6, being within one strike of getting eliminated before Dave Henderson hit a 2 run homer - on a very favorable pitcher advantage position of an 0-2 count no less - off of Angels closer Donnie Moore to put the Red Sox ahead in a game they eventually won in extra innings, before returning home to Fenway Park and winning the remaining two games to capture the ALCS crown over the Angels. Without that dramatic meltdown by the Angels, the Red Sox would have never even had the chance to be the victim of one themselves :-)

I think Steve Bartman got totally screwed in the court of public opinion. Was he responsible for interfering with Alou’s attempt to make the catch? Quite possibly, yes. Was he responsible for the Cubs giving up 8 runs in the inning as a result of his actions, or the Cubs’ subsequent failure to win game 7? Hell no! It’s pretty sad what he had to endure after that game. Besides, he did the only thing he’s guilty of is trying to catch a foul ball, which almost all of us were taught to try when attending baseball games.

Cody Christoffersen Clear and fair goals? The Suarez penalty had almost no contact and the PSG defender didn't even try see Suarez but he fell for no reason. Neymar could have easily jumped and avoided the PSG player in the second penalty. Both of those penalties were unfair. Di Maria was slide tackles from behind by Mascherano as well as he was the last man so it would have been a penalty and a red card.

If you're going to include the 1986 Boston Red Sox, then the 2011 Texas Rangers should've been included even higher on the list.
Like the Red Sox, the Rangers were 1 out away (with a 2 run lead) from winning the World Series over the St. Louis Cardinals only to give up a game-tying triple to David Freese. Then they blew *another* 2 run lead in the 10th inning, followed by (who else) Freese hitting a walk-off homer in the 11th inning, followed by the Cardinals easily winning Game 7 the next night. As the cherry on top, the Rangers have still never won the World Series.

It was really close to being fan interference, I still can’t even tell to this day, but the Cubs pitching also gave the Marlins 8 runs and the series. You can’t just blame Bartman, to me, it was the pitching as well. However, it doesn’t matter anymore because the Cubs beat the Indians, so this curse is over.

In the 1964 National League pennant race, the Phillies led St. Louis by 6.5 games with only twelves games left to play; however, Philadelphia had a major collapse during the rest of that season while St. Louis surged and won the pennant by one game over the Phillies. I'd say that it's still on Stefan, he should have shot that puck long before it took that bounce. He was showboating a bit by skating all the way up to the net when he could have fired it right as he broke away and had an easy shot with absolutely nothing in front of him, with less chance of a bounce like that.

Agreed to a point Nick. Being fair, the 2016 Indians were a surprise to even make the world series that year with 2 of their 3 star pitchers out with injuries. Corey Kluber basically took Cleveland on his back to make game 7. Even with that huge setback to be up 3 games to 1 with 2 chances to clinch the championship at home is a choke. Not top 10 all time choke jobs(since at least 1985) though IMO.

Not worthy of the list, seeing as there are numerous teams that have blown a 3-1 series lead. As it was, the Indians were lucky just to take Game 7 into extra innings.

2010 Boston Bruins. Up 3-0 vs flyers in the series and 3-0 in game 7 and still lose. Go Flyers!

1999-2000 Flyers up 3-1 in the Conference Final, and lose to the Stanley Cup Champions New Jersey Devils! Go Devils

2011 Bruins got revenge but you forgot that one of course! Oh yeah it was better 4-0.

If they didn’t bounce back from trailing 3-1 and beat the Red Wings in the Stanley Cup semifinals, the 2013 Blackhawks would’ve been right up there

All of a sudden TH-cam doesn't allow "Thumbs Downs" anymore?! I'm a Bruins fan. As one, that series hurt more than words can say! LOL!!! I'm surprised myself that this didn't at least make it as an honorable mention. Personally, it should've been one of the ten; I'm thinking top five, at least!

a 3 games to 0 lead is far worse of a collapse than a 3-0 lead in one game, especially to a rival

To be honest, that wasn't a choke. New England just got outplayed by the Giants; they got beat straight up.

    • @MrJordwalk
      @MrJordwalk 6 ปีที่แล้ว

No, New England was the one doing the outplaying. But Tyree's helmet grab was THE DEFINITION of a lucky catch. NE would have won the SB if he hadn't made that catch.
