    How to choose BMS, battery management system for your battery bank, whether it's for DIY power wall, DIY solar power setup, DIY portable solar generator, or solar off-grid battery bank. In this video, I tackled common port vs. separate port, the importance of cell specs/datasheets, 32650 cells' BMS calculation, mixed cells for DIY powerwall/projects, capacity differences when using used laptop battery cells, safe zone calculation, and the risks involved with BMS and some more of good tips you can bring home.
    Note: I didn't include the C-Rate topic as it's a very technical thing to explain and to squeeze it in this video. I'd rather have it in a separate video tutorial.     In this video, I talked about common port vs. separate port, the importance of cell specs/datasheet, 32650 cells BMS calculation, mixed cells for DIY powerwall/projects, capacity differences when using used laptop battery cell, safe zone calculation, and the risks involved with BMS and some more of good tips you can bring home. I hope this would help those who seek information regarding how to choose BMS.

      Hi sir JF, gusto ko pong matuto gumawa ng diy battery bank pra s solar power system namin at on going po pag aaral ko. Sir nalito po ako s charge at discharge nitong mga 18650 battery nyo. Bakit po meron sobrang taas ng discharge, ms mtaas pa s charge, meron din the same, meron din pong mbaba s charge rate. Ano pong ibig sabihin non sir? Contrast po kc s mga npag aaralan ko e. Psensya n po newbie lng po

      Sir baguhan p lng ako sa assemble ng lifepo4 di ko po alam kung pwede po yung 30A na bms 16s 48v
      Sa ebike na me rate na 48v 1000 hub motor
      Saka isa pang ebike na 48v 800w hub motor 28 amper na controller

    Tama boss JF kaya di muna ako naglagay ng BMS dahil sa risk na pwede masira SCC ko.. need talaga ng relay na mag trigger sa coil ng contactor para sabay mag disconnect ng PV at battery sa SCC once na bigla mag shutdown BMS due to some problems.. kaya sa mga kaibigan natin sa larangan ng DIY Powerwall basahin at intindihin po natin ang specs at manual ng mga SCC natin bago natin lagyan ng BMS. Salamat po..

    Baguhan lng ako sa solar kaka search ko sa TH-cam nakapag install ako Ng 12v setup off-grid sealed lead acid...     Nicely explained and are very helpful, though I still base the BMS A-ratings on the actuall wattage of the load (for scooters and battery packs) because it could mean disaster if I base them from the nominal charging rating. Scooters could suddenly stop in the middle of the road if the vehicle happens to draw more current.

      Good day and thanks for watching. This tutorial is specifically for DIY powerwall, portable solar generator and solar off-grid setup but when designing an electric scooter or ebike system, you always have to match the BMS according to the peak watt power of the motor and then building the battery bank capable of supplying the peak demand current of the motor on a nominal level or a bit higher. In this way, heat issue can be eliminated. If the battery bank is being maxed out to its C-rate, it will introduce a shorter lifespan for the cells as well as shorter range. I hope this is clear enough.
      And by the way you might also notice that my channel is all about diy powerwall and renewable energy.

    Hello sir ...may 3s10p po ako na 18650 battery gamit ko po ay PWM na scc (white) B2 po ang setting ng scc ..bakit po kaya hindi nya mafullcharge ung battery pag 12.1 na po nagflofloat na sya agad sir ...pero pag ililipat ko sa B1 settings sir kaya nya punuin yung battery ...ask ko lng sana sir kung ano posible na sira sa setup ko ...thank you sir

    Cite for examples i have 32650 battery that is 16s 3p po.. then may controller amps was 30A.. and lifepo4 bms should be?30A too? Or to be safe 45A?

      If the cell has a capacity of 6000mAh or 6Ah, with the C-rate of 3C max discharging current, that's basically 6Ah x 3C, which results to 18A max discharging current per cell, to be multiplied by 3P and that's the max discharging current of the battery bank. Question po sir JF, if gagamitin for automotive use with medium sized sound system ang lithium battery paano at ano po ang mga dapat gawin or i-consider para maging success ang build? Been looking around YT regarding different batteries na maganda gamitin pang-car audio systems aside sa mga advertised audio specific battery, and of course can be recharged by the vehicles charging system.

      Good day. 🤓. Ang pinaka magandang paraan ay kunin ang C-rate per cell, at kalkulahin kung ilang nakaparallel. Maging ang max current draw ng load. Yon ang BMS. 👍

    Sir, puede ba e connect in parallel 2 batteries with different bms port. One is common port while the other one is separate port. Paano ba Ang wiring connection para maging parallel Ang dalawa. Am more particular on the charging port of the separate port bms. Where is it connected if the batteries are to be connected in parallel?

      Good day W. 😊 hindi pupwede, sad to say. Kung gusto mong i-parallel ang dalawang battery bank, dapat magkapareho ang BMS, i.e. common port or separate port maging sa specs ng amps rating.

      Good day D. 😊 oh yes you can, but your battery bank won't have the over current protection, as long as you won't go beyond the discharge c-rate of your battery bank, it should be fine.

      Good day. Dapat po may BMS at Active Balancer at pwede po na hindi magkakapreaho ang capacity ng mga cells, kaya lang ang suggested na pagitan ay nasa 100 - 200mAh lang po dapat para mas tumagal ang serbisyo ng mga cells.

      Kung 1800mAh ang mac discharge current, i-mulitply nyo yan sa 50P. So 90A ang BMS kung gusto nyong isagad ang battery bank. Kung hindi naman, pwede ang 50A to 80A.

      Depende sa laki ng battery bank at kung ilang amps ang balancing current ng bms. Mostly, kung maliit din lang ang battery bank ay ok na din lalo na kung well balanced ang mga packs.

      Good day. Ang amp rating ng BMS ay nakadepende po sa total C-rate ng battery bank. Kung plano nyong magdagdag ng mga cells, maari nyong kwentahin kung ano ang total C-rate ng final assembled na battery bank.

    Tanong ko lang po, ano kailangan na bms sa 8pcs na lifepo4 32650 6000mah 3.2v? Gagawin ko po cya 12v. Para sa motorcycle na 125cc.Salamat!

      Kailangan, pero maraming gumagawa na wala neto at active balancer lang ang gamit.
