As someone who has been robbed... the screams of agony of thieves are music to my ears
I haven't been robbed (hope to god I never do) but I can relate, seeing these people get what they deserve makes me feel happy for once

Lots of states have "shopkeeper defence" laws. Surprisingly even blue states, that dont have castle doctrines in your own home. In California however, everything is illegal. Liquor store owner will probably be charged with a hate crime there.

I will never forget the times I was on the front line of armed robbery. One person was stabbed, one had his arm broken in a botched attempt to steal, and another was beaten unconscious. To know that these twits will probably be spending years in prison is a relief, but to see at least one suffering from an open wound is a rare delight

Yes, however will probably be let off with probation cause they're "oppressed" in that sh_thole of a state
Weird fact: in many jurisdictions, if the store owners obvious self-defense bullet had been lethal, the accomplices in the car could be charged with that as a murder (felony murder), and there have been multiple cases of this (store owner shoots one of 2 robbers in clear self defense, one robber dies and his buddy robber is charged with the death of the other robber).
It is one reason to never let “friends” talk you into into going along “just a little” or “c’mon, just drive the car” during crimes, because even if you don’t hurt anyone…if someone involved does - everyone participating in the crime faces the charges and prison time for that.
I think it came about because often in group crimes, every accomplice says “yeah, I was on the scene, but I didn’t do the really bad stuff…” and hard to find who exactly did when all lie about it, so now if you join a crime, you can bear the consequences of the actions of all involved.

Every time someone comes to an ER bleeding out after a gun shot, are staff supposed to say “sorry…gotta pull the security tapes and get statements from everyone first to be sure you aren’t a criminal.” And of course both sides will be blaming the other, and it usually takes some time to sort out who is lying, or is just murky (like if there is an argument, one guy shoves another to the ground, and the person responds by shooting him dead…and turns out the first guy had no weapon (Michael Djerka case)….is that self defense, or not?)
What would really suck about that law is; what if you are giving a friend a ride and unbeknownst to you that friend has a gun, then they decide to commit a crime without informing you. If someone dies in their crime attempt, now you're going to prison for murder even though you were just innocently giving a dude a ride. Makes me not want to give anyone a ride ever.

If you know your friend was going to rob someone and agreed to serve as the getaway driver, you're guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and if someone dies you should be charged with murder as well.
If you had no knowledge of the gun or the robbery, then you aren't guilty of any crime. You didn't have the "mens rea" or "guilty mind" required to be convicted, similar to how you're not guilty of fraud for writing a bad cheque if you thought the account had sufficient funds but your card got cloned and a scammer had emptied it. You did the act of writing a bad cheque, but you didn't intend to.
This, and the young man who stabbed the kid trying to rob his smoke shop made me feel so proud for the good guys for once. Criminals will ALWAYS choose the easiest places to rob. If they know you'll defend yourself, they most likely won't bother.
This incident and the smoke shop incident had nothing in common. There was no self defense at the smoke shop, The smoke shop owner is going to face charges self defense will not hold up in court. The shop owner stabbed a shop lifting teenager in the back and attempted to kill him with a final stab to the neck as he was screaming for his life. At no point could you consider that self defense.

This was not self defense, it was retaliatory for his accomplice stealing the tip jar and attempted shoplifting. The way the shop owner handled the situation makes me doubt there is an ounce of humanity left in him. In the automobile world we take precautions so our vehicles are not easily targeted and stolen. I don't feel bad when someone's vehicle vehicle is stolen if they pretty much asked for it. Same goes for a smoke shops, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

@@bepositive4494 I can confirm. I'm a small business owner in CA and they treat me like an enemy of the state. I'm supposed to be "tolerant" when I'm getting robbed, which happens often in my city. But I'm in an extreme leftist city. CA is actually pretty diverse when you get out of the major cities. For example San Bernardino County passed a measure to secede from the state and it will be on the ballot in the midterms.
