  • Winchester 30-30 is still a great round. Come along and we'll shoot a few of these lever action rifles.

    the under respected, far under rated 30_30 Winchester lever action. some say about 100 yd shots about it.then they never seriously tested and shot them past that. I've tested them up around 350 _ 400 yds and in the hands of a marksman it can be done with scope and quality reload ammunition to matching rifle. as a self defense firearm it's proven it's self through history. being realistic the average hunter/ shooter can't stand off hand with there favorite deer rifles and hit a gallon jug at 300 yards regardless of calibers. truth is most hunting rifles only get shot maybe a few times a year and the average hunter fails in marksmanship regardless of type firearms or calibers. no practice, no good. practice, practice, practice distances find out what we can or can't do. papa wishing you well 😊

      @@johnnymccann5607 in the 70s the 30 30 was used for almost every thing but by the 80s the ruger mini 14 had taken over for varmints because it was semi auto. The 30 30 was always a 350 yd weapon. Still is the best for deer hunting.

      I have a savage model 99 lever action I got from my dad. asked him why he never got a new deer rifle. told me that gun had taken more deer than any two rifles in the valley. haven't shot it in years but I would never part with it.

    I was in college in '91 when l aquired my first '94 at a pawn shop in Cleburne Texas. It was on a clearence rack that said $149 and less. Paid 149 for it and found out later it was made in 1914. The metal butt plate was gone and been cut straight with the plastic Winchester plate, the saddle ring was missing and lead was filling the hole and the barrel was bent ever so slightly to the left. You could barely tell. Didn't shoot it much, but l still have it plus many more 94's in .32 WS, .32-40 John Wayne commemorative (was fired before l got it) and .30-30 of course. My last one was last year made in 1934 and paid the princely sum of 1200, ouch!!! I remember when i used to buy those things for under $200 back in the '90's. I reload for all of them and have moulds for all except the .30-30. I do shoot reduced loads for that with cast bullets l purchased and use Trail Boss. Too bad they don't make it anymore. I have 4 bottles left.

    Have you ever seen a Mod 94 30-30 with a half-length magazine tube? I have one I purchased in the early 90's from a shopping mall sporting goods chain. As I recall it was $199. Hard wood stock, well finished, 20 " barrel. No complaints about post-64 issues. I had a gun smith install a Williams aperture rear sight and a gold bead front sight. I always figured it was an uncatalogued special order for the stores as a promotional item. I never shot it much, but it seemed quite accurate. I have never been able to find a half-magazine 94 in any catalog or book.

      @@richardmize5326 it may be a special order for that sporting goods store. It sounds like it could be a model 64 hybrid of some type. You have me curious now. I do know a lot of the ones made for sporting goods stores were high quality. I wish I would have paid more attention when we’re selling them. Thanks for asking. 👍

    Very nice collection of rifles there! 30-30 is one of my favorite utility and deer hunting rounds. I’ve never been disappointed with it or felt like I didn’t have enough gun for whatever chore I was about to do. I have a Marlin model 36(square bolt) with a 24” barrel and 2/3 magazine tube that is one of my favorite rifles in my collection. I still want to add a pre 64 Winchester model 94 to my collection yet. Great video!!

    But that old rifle looked pretty easy to work.
    My '70s model needs authority used.

      @AZRancher  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I’ve never compared them until now. Each one requires different amount of effort to cycle the action. I believe it has more to do with how much wear it has. The more wear the easier it is to cycle. That’s just my opinion. Thanks for bringing that up. I learned something. Thanks again!!!

Como calibre .y creo que los rifles de palanca en su mayoría ese es el mejor calibre (vuelvo a repetir es mi gusto personal) para mi todavía mejor que el 500 .❤

      @@guyvossen1640 You are correct! Tannerite cost me a good horse. Shooters were out on the ranch blowing up stuff with Tannerite. The plastic containers that stuff comes in exploded into sharp pieces. I wasn’t the shooter. The horse injected the small pieces and cut his intestines up. It was a long painful death. Had to have the horse put down after an expensive surgery to figure out what happened. Not good.
