    I love that whole area from New Orleans to Pascagoula and in between for food.

    Always pass that place. I should take the time and eat there one day.

    The Major cracked me up. He had to remove that “gumbo” from his sight.

    That was hilarious that The Major put his “gumbo” on his chair! His fried shrimp dish looked fantastic though, as did yours! Will look into this place, when we drive through this summer, after visiting New Orleans, and on our way to Florida.

      I liked my food and I would have eaten Major's fake gumbo as the shrimp still looked good but I'm not eating after Major 😀

    Gonna check this place out next time down. My wife is a crab cake snob so she'll enjoy all that crab meat. I'll dodge the gumbo. Thanks for posting!

      I think something went really wrong with the gumbo order as that was obviously not a gumbo. Thanks for watching!

    Nobody in Southern Mississippi would call that gumbo either. That was an outlier, generally gumbo is very good on the MS Gulf Coast. We're not animals you know!?!

      @saintsfan39475 It is hard to find a good gumbo outside Louisiana... This is one of the worst examples ever though... Mary Mahoney's claims they have better gumbo than NOLA but I would certainly disagree with that claim.

    The flounder looked quite good! Too bad about the gumbo. But like I tell my wife: Living in New Orleans has really raised the bar on what we expect at restaurants! 🍛🦀🍤

      Their gumbo looked more like a shrimp etouffee over rice 😀

    Did y'all ask your waitress if that, in fact, was gumbo? Maybe she grabbed the wrong plate?

      She said that was all that was left and there were new people in the kitchen etc.

    I hate the way they advertise on the entrance door that it's a gun free zone . That's an invitation for trouble.

    • @NOLAGent1
      @NOLAGent1  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep or they do the metal detector and pat down. If someone or some group wanted to get in to do harm I have seen zero of these places ever have any legitimate way to prevent that. Not to mention there are plenty of weapons made out of things that won't be detected by metal detectors. It is all theatrics to instill a false sense of security or maybe even more ridiculous it is required by their insurance...

    THE FIRST THING THAT TURNED ME OFF WAS THE GUN FREE ZONE SIGN ON THE DOOR I DON'T GO ANYWHERE THAT INVITES PSYCHOPATHS TO COME AND DO THEIR DIRTY WORK

    • @NOLAGent1
      @NOLAGent1  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that is an odd thing. I might guess some insurance companies require that or maybe some state regulatory agencies might demand it. Even Flora-Bama makes you get wanded and pat down to enter now!

    Let me get this straight…you go to a different location and order the specialty of another location and complain that the food you ordered doesn’t taste like the other location…you sir are a real brainiac

      The Major lives in Alabama and eats a lot of what I think is awful gumbo all the time there and loves it but this "gumbo" wouldn't be called a gumbo by anybody on the Gulf Coast I know as there was literally no liquid in the bowl. A gumbo is a type of stew/soup so what Major got had zero resemblance to that. Now personally I would have just eaten the shrimp and as it looked like he got way more shrimp in that concoction than if he had actually gotten a gumbo.

      Hey, this is Major. FYI. You may call that gumbo wherever you live, the gumbo rock that you live under but that’s not gumbo. I am the Major. I have to fight for my rights to party.

    • @blake_7791
      @blake_7791 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did I say the gumbo looked good? I’ll repeat myself for the reading impaired. Don’t go to a different location expecting them to be good at another location’s specialty. That’s like going to Egypt and expecting them to have excellent sushi.

    • @NOLAGent1
      @NOLAGent1  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Gulf Coast has gumbo all over and so they consider it one of their specialties. So the situation is more complex than your example. Mary Mahoney's in Biloxi, MS literally says on their menu that they have better gumbo than New Orleans. In Louisiana we also have disagreements between the team New Orleans Creole Gumbo and team Acadiana Cajun Gumbo. Mobile, AL even tries to claim they invented Mardi Gras. So lots of overlap all in the Gulf Coast area but in general to my taste the gumbo and poboys are terrible once you get outside Louisiana! To people outside of Louisiana they often think they have the best and there is a French heritage overlap in the region so some similar cultural fabric exists.
